Jussie Smallette (Alleged) Self Inflicted Hoax Assault
apuszczalowski replied to RaoulDuke79's topic in Off the Wall
Theres a town around here that's thinking of playing Manilow music in the downtown area to stop some of the issues they have been having with people causing trouble. Its said to work that playing classical or other forms of music keep the 'riff raff' away and less issues happen....... What did people expect in this case? Even if it went to court and tied up the court system, along with a media circus, he most likely would have walked away with some fines and community service anyway. The only reason people want more is because the media blew it up because it was a somewhat 'celebrity' who did it so the media continued to run with it. Had this been a nobody claiming this happened to them, you would have heard nothing about it after the first day outside of local news stations. Nobody would care if the person was ever charged or faced any punishment. Theres now a pretty good chance he wont get another Hollywood acting gig after this as no one will want to be associated with him, and in about another year we wont hear about it anymore. -
I always love when rich/famous people do this. They are caught doing something illegal where theres pretty good proof they actually did what they have been accused of, but because they have money for the best legal teams, they will go to court and fight it based on some loophole or minor thing that they can find to get the case thrown out (or just threaten to drag things out to the point where it's not economically feasible for the other side to continue fighting it and they drop it). His legal team will probably go to court and fight it based on the video somehow being illegal and cant be used as evidence, or that he was actually dating the woman whole did things to him and he was not paying for the sex act. Maybe he will also say that he never gave them permission to fo the act and because of his age he was unable to refuse them doing the act and that he was sexually assaulted? Most people would just accept the deal they offered, take the slap on the wrist and walk away, but when you have money sometimes you decide to waste some of it along with time and try to get out of trouble in a harder way

Advice dealing with local government
apuszczalowski replied to 4BillsintheBurgh's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Bookings of public facilities like arenas, sports fields, public pavilions, etc. Are typically handled like rentals of non government facilities. You call in/apply to book times/dates of when you need them and pay the required rental fees. If the facility/field isnt booked, then you get it. If its already booked, you pick another time/date or location. Some places may have Grant's or subsidies you can apply for that would go through council and may approve waiving the fees for groups, usually if they can show they are charitable/not for profit, etc. type of organisation. There isnt really anything to fight, if the other group went through the proper channels, booked the field and paid the fees, they get the field at those dates/times. -
Advice dealing with local government

It doesnt matter if the municipality has come into money or not, that money will be used for things such as keeping taxes lower, infrastructure repairs and work, constructing other amenities for the public and saved for future expenses. It can also be used for helping out with grants and assistance to programs. If the field has been rented by an organisation that paid the required fees to rent them, they get priority of when they get used over a group that has just been using them for free over the years. There are other days that they are available that can be used, and if your using them without charge, then you have to take what you can get. Theres no use fighting it because theres nothing to fight, if the other group went through the proper channels to reserve the space, the they get the space and theres nothing you can do to get it back. Like I suggested before, if you are not for profit, or something similar, you may ne able to ask for assistance from the local municipality to get a grant or subsidy to help pay for the field rental times so you can book the fields, but it would be for whatever open times they have left. -
He was part of a Puttsburgh organisation that had to make do winning a couple of cups with Crosby and Malkin, and was in charge of their farm system that was successful in their league. Now he is here slowly building a dynasty that will only take 5+ years of patience before we see progress of taking the next step and being a playoff team.

Advice dealing with local government

Personally, I think your out of luck if you arent paying for rental fees and booking the field for those times. It may have been fine before because they didnt have any interest from a paying group and it was never an issue of others wanting to use the field, but now that someone is going to pay, they will get priority, doesnt matter if they are local or not. And it doesnt matter if the parents pay taxes, everyone does and when you work out how much of their tax dollars go to fund that field, it might work out to pocket change from their share. I get this argument all the time from people, you dont get to pick and chose how your personal tax dollars are spent. Other peoples tax dollars are funding the field too, and people may be upset that the municipality would push away paying customers to allow people to use the field for free, bringing in additional revenue can lower taxes, or atleast keep them from going up. What I would suggest, depending on the organisation you're a part of, if you can prove you are a 'not for profit' or a charitable organisation, sometimes you can get a grant, or the local council/government may wave fees for use of the public fields or facilities. -
Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
apuszczalowski replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
I'm thinking it will be the next one I watch once I finish up with Titans which has been pretty good. Around the same time i saw the episode about it, i saw commercials for the spin off 'Doom Patrol' which might be interesting. Also waiting to watch the latest season of Arrested Development, and at the tend of the month Netflix has an Animated 'Trailer Park Boys' series starting. This seems to be a trend starting here in Canada turning our shows into animated series, started with Corner Gas, now Trailer Park Boys. It is easier to reboot them that way after some of the cast members die (Brent's mom Emma died recently, Mr Lahey died just before their last season was released IIRC) -
You are never going to get a conversation without finger pointing Most of us outside your country can't understand why everyone in the US feels the need to carry a gun everywhere because we dont live in a place where we feel the need to be worried that if we left our wife and children inside our home for a minute, someone will break in and rape/murder them, or that if we didnt have a gun, the country would be taken over, or the government would enslave us all.

Help...I've got too much wood!
apuszczalowski replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I didnt see anywhere saying it was free to the dump, but reading that list, man you are lucky with what they pick up. Up here they wont take anything curbside that's viewed as 'construction waste'. That stuff has to be taken directly to the dump if you dont get a private bin. We also have a one can/bag limit, or else you have to put a $2 tag/sticker on each bag over that and they have even been talking about switching to 2 week pickup, and requiring clear bags so they can see if you are throwing out items that can be recycled..... The only thing I refuse to take to the dump and pay for is metal items, i take those to a scrap yard and get money to get rid of it. -

Actually, they are called By-Law Officers around here, or even Police Officers in some areas can ticket for burning where it's not allowed. Fire Department gets called they can also fine too in some cases. They take things seriously further into the summer when there isnt as much rain and everything's dry. Most Cities are getting stricter with their open fire by-laws these days. Just bring the wood inside I And burn in a fire place, the fumes will give you a nice buzz that's cheaper then buying drugs..... When I was a kid my dad used to burn our old Christmas tree and leaves in the spring/summer in the back yard. Neighbors called a few times cause they thought the garage was on fire. Usually got a warning as a first offence, then threatened with a fine if they came out again. -

Probably not much you can do, fields and parks usually require you to book them, and typically a 'first come first serve' thing. Some places may hold or give preference to long time groups, but they dont have to. If they booked/reserved the field first for those days and times, fighting will be a waste of time. -

Why does the question even need to be asked? Why do you or any of us have to know what method she used to end her life, why does it matter? It doesnt mean someone failed her, people may have done all they could. In many cases it doesnt matter how much help or support they have, if they have issues or reasons why they feel they need to do it, they are going to do it. She wasnt some young kid who didnt know what she was doing or how dangerous a gun can be. At her age it's not hard to find a gun someone may have stored properly .

I doubt it varies much at all. Announce he is available now everyone knows tour drafting Murray and value could go low. Trade him after Murray is taken and teams could low bid knowing he will now be moved. I think they just dont want to tip their hat so early before the draft by trading him now. Theres going to be bidding for him from teams looking for a starter, and your essentially getting something similar to drafting a guy now in the 1st except he has a year starting experience in the NFL. I wouldnt be surprised to find out they had a deal already worked out that just wont be announced until the pick is made. Also wouldnt be shocked to see them get a late 1st or early second for him. The Giants make sense because they have a second 1st they could use, and he already has some experience, but can sit behind Eli for the season until they feel he can take over. That team isnt going to be looking for a full tear down rebuild, and having Barkley will help take the pressure off the QB.
-
I would only want that because when has a team ever had 2 of the 1st round QBs from the same draft?...... I thinks it's more that Arizona doesnt want to trade him til after they make their pick in the draft so they dont tip off the rest of the league as to who goes #1 ( the NFL may have also asked them to hold off til the draft so they dont ruin things by letting everyone know who's going first overall)

Should the NFL eliminate the onside kick?
apuszczalowski replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think a team clearly dominated/outplayed a team so much that they deserve to win a game if the other team can win by converting an onside kick or even a hail Mary play. That means the game was pretty close.... -

I'm not, but I still do because growing up it was much more accurate to watch the Buffalo news for weather then it was Hamilton/Toronto My wife goes by Celcius all the time, I use Fernheight. I am surprised that almost all building in this area uses imperial measurements 99% of the time. I never see plans that are done in metric. -

We have the cold cast iron rads in an old concrete block house. Its been good in the winter, but not having forced air sucks for not being able to have central A/C We also had an old natural gas boiler replaced with an on demand combo unit for our heat and hot water. I have never come across anyone using Geothermal up here yet but have read about it. They were pushing a free course in the area to teach us about them recently but I didnt get to go, its just not common up here yet, although if our provincial government would have kept the incentives going for energy efficiency, we may have started to see it more. I have seen a few heat pump systems around here but they are a bit rare. We don't allow solid fuel fired appliances to be used as primary heat sources in homes up here, they can only be supplemental and require HRV/ERVs to be installed for makeup air. Forced air systems are the most common, usually 95% of all builds I see are forced air.
