  1. Yeah, might be difficult to get work on an office building or apartment doing Reno work after you become known for your work starting a fire that almost destroyed a historic 800+ year old building. Probably going to be impossible to get contractors insurance again too.... How do you insure it though? I have read some articles saying you couldnt get insurance for it, and if it was possible, the premiums would be astronomical. I would assume that there was insurance to protect most of the valuables inside, but the building itself probably not. What insurance company could afford to insure a building like that?
  2. A heroic sacrifice that included saving Ackbar would have left a theatre in tears, but would it have all been a trap? As for the comedy, I think that started back in the prequels, it's pretty much the entire reason for Jar Jar Binks....... I like Guardians, but that's what I think bugged me about Thor Ragnorok, they tried to make Thor into the Guardians and make it more comedic which doesnt really work for the Thor character. Alot of the superhero stuff seems to be trying to go in that direction lately and take from Guardians. (I think it worked well in Guardians because they weren't a very well known Marvel entity to the average person so they could play the characters how they did and people didnt feel the characters weren't like the comics. Just like how after DC did Batman/Dark Knight as dark and edgy and others tried to copy that formula, they are now going for more comedy and hip music like Marvel did with Guardians. I just finished The Umbrella Academy on Netflix and it was done similar, noticing Titans/Doom Patrol to also go that way. Theres many things affecting the Star Wars franchise and why people are disliking the newer films. I think one is that the time between the original trilogy to the prequels doesnt help because the ones who loved Star Wars when it came out as kids remember loving the originals as kids and now are grown up and taste have changed so the new ones dont live up in their minds. Second, and probably the biggest, Star Wars has a cult following and some spin offs in cartoons, books, comics, and other media that have continued story lines for the hardcore fans. They have their belief on how things should have went because of certain books or comics or shows have laid out the story, and if the movies dont follow what they believe is supposed to happen they dont like it. Third, some people just expect way too much from movies/TV today that they cant enjoy something if they dont feel it reaches a certain level for them. The comic book movies, Star Wars, Transformers, etc. Are not supposed to be Oscar level masterpieces. The story lines are going to twist reality, have things that are unbelievable. They are meant for you to come out and turn off your brain for a few hours to just sit back and enjoy watching some action and explosions. This isnt for everybody and that's fine, no ones saying you have to watch. But you cant go into watching star wars and expect to see Shindlers List........
  3. It's already started. (Just look above you) Close to one of the biggest catholic holidays, start of holy week, other churches being vandalized. Of course it was also undergoing massive renovations to the area where the fire started which is much more difficult to access then where the damage and vandalism was done in other churches. It's easy to assume that it must be terrorist (seen many comments already just saying it was muslims) and not a construction accident. Some comments I read said it couldnt have been from the work cause workers left 2 hours before they think it started. Of course in an old structure like that it doesnt matter because it can take time for a fire to actually start flaming. I saw a fire that was caused by a discarded cigarette butt thrown by a roofer off a roof that was blown into an attic space during the day. The home owner noticed her attic was on fire around 10-11pm that night. Depending on the damage and the cooperation from the contractors/workers, it may never be known how it actually started.
  4. I find photos of fire damage to be fastening but they also creep me out, especially something like this, an old church. I'm not surprised that alot of the building structure itself survived being stone/concrete. Although with the building being filled with alot of wood fixtures, and some wood framing thats very old, it can take forever to fully extinguish a fire.
  5. I remember them announcing that they won the championship while watching a late season Jays game, they had some really good 2nd generation MLBers on that roster
  6. Fisher Cats? Were the prices higher last year for the honor to watch Vlad Jr?
  7. Were you high and drunk at that time? You might be the first person I have every read call The Dome a "Nice Facility". LOL I dont think it's horrible, but it's not that great. One of the reasons they apparently went with Shapiro from the Indians as their president was because of the work he did to make Progressive Field in Cleveland better. The best move to make the place better was in place before he took over and then scrapped by them, install a grass field to get rid of the fake turf. Instead he is focusing on more hangouts for fans at the game where they can meet and spend time while a game is being played. If I'm spending good money to go to a baseball game, I want to watch a game, I can hang out and catch up with friends at much cheaper places.
  8. And yet theirs tantrums being thrown about the current ones over the female roles.... Seemed to have touched some nerves around here......
  9. I spent part of my day taking the front lawn then adding top soil and seeding. Half of my seed had been attacked by a mouse in my garage and the bags were all open inside the plastic tote I was storing them in. Then the soil I was using I order last year to do this (but ran out of time) the centre of the bag was frozen from the winter and now I have to wait for it to thaw (it was a cubic yard of soils that gets delivered in a bag similar to what tarps are made of)
  10. Hey Look, one of them is here!
  11. Yeah, the original trilogy was much more realistic. Thousands of Storm troopers who couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with their guns but could be taken down with one shot from the 'good guys', or a planet size fortress that could be completely destroyed by being hit in one specific small opening....... Fan boys will hate it because they put the original trilogy so high up on pedestals that it will be impossible to compare, and because the story wont be the way they thought it should go. Then there a whole new group recently of typically white wannabe macho males who will hate it too because their are woman in prominent roles, along with minorities playing characters and they will cry because its gona all 'SJW!'
  12. It will probably do that on it's own.....
  13. How would shady not be missed? He is tje best RB on the roster currently...... If he can be replaced with a 3rd, why would someone trade something for him?
  14. I wouldnt have thought of that name for a girl. It's not a common name around here but compared to many names today, i dont think it would get someone picked on or beat up, there will probably be 5-6 kids in his class with names that will get them beat up. As for names, it seems that for boys you worry about whether they will get beat up, for a girl you wonder if it will lead to a 'dance' career.....
  15. Bwahahahahaha The Leafs are done. The Sabres may actually tie the Leafs in playoff wins this season.
  16. Strongly disagree, his welcome was only worn out by the ones who believed that the Jay's have to deal away anyone over 25 and not named Guerrero. Pillar was one of the better defensive CFers in the game, his hitting though wasnt good most of the time. The Jay's dealt him away because he wasnt one of the guys Shapiro/Atkins brought in, all the more evident by them immediately handing Grichuck a 52 million dollar deal hours later and replacing Pillars roster spot by trading for Socrates Brito who's only assett is speed and has hit much worse then Pillar and osnt great in the field.
  17. I'm still trying to figure out if the Jay's are just unlucky and facing a bunch of really good pitchers who are taking no hitters late into games, or if they are so bad they are making every pitcher look like a Cy Young candidate....... It's going to be a long ugly year at the Roger's Centre......
  18. Russell is with the Dodgers, on the weekend he pitched the last inning of a game they were leading by 16 runs (and got all 3 batters out) then was catching the other night when also former Jay Kevin Pillar came up to bat for the Giants. I never understood moving Martin. He seemed to be ok in Toronto, was willing to be a backup and play in the infield, and it's not like they need to free up up cap space in baseball. Paying him to play in LA is dumb, hes a better backup option then Luke Maille. But he was an Anthopolous move so current management cant keep him around...... They actually are paying closer to $60 mil (almost as much as their current roster) to players not to play in Toronto after the moved Morales to Oakland the day before the start of the season and retained around 10 of his 12 mil
  19. If that's the way it went down, definitely wrongful termination. If it wasnt something where it was available online, and they were stolen from her phone by the student, it's the student who should be facing charges for theft and maybe more for illegally accessing her personal property. She didnt send it to students, or did this for modeling on an online site, or is having an inappropriate relationship with a student, she shouldn't be forced to lose her job. If anything the school board should have atleast made an offer to move her to a different school if students seeing the photo would affect her job. She should have a lawsuit against the school/board, and the student
  20. I think the reason that Lynching wasnt considered 'illegal' under the law was that they had other laws to cover what happens so it's one that kept slipping through the cracks of not really being needed. Typically, someone that's being lynched either ends up dead (where people can be tried for murder then) or physically hurt (where it can be called assault). Also it was used as a punishment so it would be hard to have the punishment be something illegal. I really dont think that it's much of an issue, aside from a symbolic gesture to the people whom it would have been done to, to have a law specifically in place preventing it because if someone did it, they would be charged anyways under a similar charge. I dont think cops and courts are throwing out cases or not arresting people because they were told it was a lynching and 'well, theres no law against it!"
  21. I think this has more to do with it then social media and video games. It's much easier to have access to hardcore porn then it was not that long ago. Generations before had to deal with scrambled channels, occasional late night cable softcore stuff, or an older brother or fathers nudie magazine hidden somewhere. Now, anywhere with internet access, anytime, they can easily find full porn available on the internet for free. Less work and cheaper then going to a bar/club and trying to hook up with someone. It 'does the job' and allows them to have more time to go back to playing video games and other stuff.....
  22. And it only took Tulo less than a week to get injured....... It's been a crazy start to the season with some good teams struggle and some expected bad teams starting out hot. I would think if you asked people to check out the current standing of the AL east before this season started they would have thought they were looking at it upside down. It's a long season though and everything will even it's way back out. It's not often that in baseball, a team expected to be good ends up bad, too many games to expect teams to be really good/perfect for the entire season ....
  23. Ottawa starting a rookie goalie tomorrow night, does he get his first win and look like a seasoned Vet or do the Sabres counter this tank move with a super tank move by not starting any goalie?
  24. With Beane saying they wont draft for need, I think it's more likely they trade up or stay out to get the guy they want at whatever position it may be. The only way they trade down is if they dont feel any of the top guys in the draft are their guy, or their guy gets picked and the next guy they want can be had much later. Becuase they dont want to draft for need, they dont need to worry about stocking up on picks, they can spend what they have to move around for whomever they want.
  25. It's not like those 2 guys are superstars, it's always a good thing to have to cut (or trade/deal) good players because the guys ahead of them are even better......
