  1. That's true about commercials. I used to find it funny how when Sirius/XM satellite radio came out they would push the fact that it was commercial free. Then when I had it (free subscription for a period of time with a new vehicle) they would have commercials for either content on other channels, or for actual products or services (the machines for sleep apnea, or cleaners for them, Alan Thicke promoting a debt management service, some supposedly really good underwear, and ED medication). I think there was the one service, Crackle, that started Jerry Seinfeld Commedians in Cars show that would have commercials before or during a show or movie sometimes because it wasn't a pay service.
  2. That's why they say 'its a dry heat' when talking about Arizona and Nevada...... Up here when it's 80-90 it's HOT because it's so humid and you sweat, but there 80-90 isnt unbearable unless your directly exposed to the sun.
  3. I think it depends where you are. At one point in Canada (or at least Ontario) Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC were owned by Tri-cor. Tim Hortons and Wendy's were owned by the same corporation (they started building combo locations where they where joined inside). Then Wendy's and Tim Hortons split and I believe in the US either Tim Hortons or Burger King bought the other. I like BKs burgers, sometimes on weekends I get the mix/match special of a Whopper and Chicken Sandwich for $7 (used to be $5 at one time). Never heard of or seen tacos at BK here. Most of the Taco Bells around here closed down, but unused to like some of their stuff. Now I go to a couple of the smaller chain burrito places around here if I feel like a taco/burrito. Usually for under $12 I can get a massive burrito that at times can be difficult to finish cause of the size.
  4. Meh, how can a plastic open tube be so dangerous for sea turtles? It's hard to suffocate using one.... Yesterday I tried to save a couple racoons on my way out of work that appeared to be stuck in a storm sewer. The local SPCA/Humaine Society didn't seem to care and when I went back out it appears they had either drowned or got out so I left too. Guess they are further down the list then sea turtles.....
  5. I am hating the recent heat/humidity. When I was younger I had issues at times were it seemed hard to breathe, like I had something sitting on my chest, doctors checked me out and said that I could try an inhaler but my dad for some reason decided I wouldn't need one and said I would be fine. I have had that same feeling recently at times in the heat/humidity and it's worse now when you have bruising under your arm and ribs......
  6. I would support the Titans winning if he was going to do it, but I would take his word for it and don't really need to see him do it.......
  7. I hate the way all of these companies will give you a lower price if you just waste your time calling them and playing the 'i will leave and go somewhere else' game. How about just give me the better price all the time and not jack up the price when your not a new customer..... As for cable/dish, as everyone gets rid of it or switches to streaming services, either they will need to adapt and drop prices, or they will slowly die off. The only thing that's going to help them is that people will soon get frustrated with the streaming services because there are going to be so many of them, all specialized in what they have and it will involve you paying for multiple services just to get a few shows you want to watch. This will eventually lead to pricing being similar to what you would have with cable and people looking for alternatives again.
  8. I didn't realize she had an account here on this board? Lol. Yeah, Im laid back and don't care when it comes to most things so it's usually "whatever you want" which usually doesn't go over as well as it should cause she will get mad for not making a decision.
  9. Had a serious temper and alcohol problem Don't know why, but everytime I saw his name I always got him confused with the other old guy who had a moustache, would yell and throw confetti...... He was at the end of one of the Jackass movies.....
  10. He does resemble the terminator....... It was funny that this door is guarded during the day and when deliveries are made, but not at night when most break in might normally occur. They could save some money on armed guards by just installing a couple cameras instead. On a side note, at the Calgary Stampede this year they have recreated the Hawkins fair that you can go to, and there's a Baskin Robbins in Toronto that has been converted into the Ice Cream shop in the mall where they are serving the USS Butterscotch. I don't think the show strives to make every detail realistic, but also in the 80's, wouldn't they have been refering to these guys as Soviets, not Russians? Just a minor thing although it might mix up or confuse the younger generation watching it....
  11. I loved the look of the old Vista Cruisers... I think as a kid we only had A/C on one or 2 vehicles. When I bought my first vehicle, a '85 s15 Jimmy it had a/c until I read ended someone and it took out the condenser and rad along with the front clip. Replaced it all but never recharged the A/C. Had Jeeps for a while and never had or used A/C with them, you just take the top off. Even recently, my last few vehicles I haven't used the A/C in them mostly cause I'm cheap and don't want to waste the gas. In my new truck ('19 F150) I bought a few weeks ago, I have been using the A/C and have been getting good mileage so I don't mind. Anytime I go somewhere with my wife she has to have the A/C on because she's worried the kids might get warm. She also lets them eat and drink in her car making it a mess because apparently they will die if they have to wait 10-20 minutes to get home and eat and drink stuff there....
  12. Finished Episode 5 last night Only thing I found strange was the little girl had no problem opening the elevator door from the inside after she got in through the vent. But when they were all inside, all of the sudden the buttons stopped working and they couldn't do anything but go down. Also after the elevator was emptied, why wouldn't they just stay inside until it went back up to the surface where they could go get help easier then being trapped down in the Russians lab area? You would also think a secret Russian military lab under a US Mall might have just a little bit of security, like the occasional camera, in the hallways or in areas that would spot 4 kids waking around?
  13. It's funny how many of these festival concerts are being canceled at the last minute this year. Woodstock 50 There was one at Gillette Stadium canceled There was one near where the Signed just played outside Barrie in Ontario 2 here in Welland (not as big but weekend festivals with some name acts) one a hair metal and another a country music one. They all seem to be huge fantasy dreams by the promoter that end up failing cause they don't have the financial backing to put them on as planned. The one at Gillette was supposed to have a huge bounce castle and go kart track. The one outside Barrie was scheduled to have Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Nickelback, Blondie and others, all were supposed to have been paid upfront instead of the typical deposit, and they were selling VIP passes with access to air conditioned tents that would have expensive custom built skull chairs and seating, with custom landscaping that included shrubs trimmed to look like Les Pauls. The one in Welland was canceled cause bands were backing out when the promotor wasn't meeting their agreement (most likely not getting their money). Most of these are small/first time promotors who think it's easy to put on something like this and that it will just pay for itself. They blow all their money on stupid things and then it all falls apart when tickets don't sell as fast as expected and bands start asking for their money.....
  14. CBD appears to be the new miracle cure all for whatever ails you. There used to be a an old bank around here that was bought and converted to a place where you could go and smoke pot (if you had a medicinal licence). They ended up getting shut down before it became legal because they opened without permits from the city and were raided a few times for supplying and selling products on site which was illegal (they were only supposed to allow a place for you to go and use of you had your own). On their front window they painted on it a huge list of all the things that 'Weed Cures' and it included everything from glaucoma to PMS.....
  15. It's says MAY contain spoilers, you didn't say anything about it before though. What's next, you going to tell us all that the Titanic sinks at the end of the movie? I read something earlier in the day where they said he died (or may have died) at the end of this season. The bigger spoiler here was someone saying they are definitely doing a season 4? I didn't know they confirmed it yet, guess Amazon Prime decided not to cancel it........
  16. Great job McCoys with the spoiler....... Yup, the Duffer bros said they are going to get rid of most of the smoking in the future
  17. I guess some people haven't been happy with Hoppers character this season, saying he is too angry and aggressive with women. I think most small town chief of police would be too if it's the third time you had to stop demons and creatures trying to destroy everything and still deal with raising a teenage girl with super powers while being stood up for dates......
  18. But Al was also a high school football legend at Polk High...... They probably built the house and gave it to him after his legendary game........ What other expenses did he have? He drove a Dodge that was paid for, peg never cooked and they had no food at home. I guess he had Nudie Bar expenses but not much else.....
  19. Your right, it's been a while since I watched the show, got the names mixed up.
  20. Depends on how the show works it in. It can be done right when the show evolves with the kids when they age. It gets bad when the kids age but the characters are being held around the same age. Although sometimes the aging can be a problem because the show worked with a bunch of 12 year olds but doesn't work with them as 16 year olds. And when a show like this takes a big break between seasons, that makes they have to write in the aging to make it work.
  21. Not surprised, once other streaming services created competition, and the networks figured out they could make more money with their own service instead of selling their shows to others, it is just going to turn into cable/satellite tv again, with the only difference being you can pick what you want to watch when you want to watch it. Netflix was great when it had all the content (or the majority of it) and was the only real service around. Now it's just going to get worse because you are going to have to have many streaming services to pay for, or have juggle them based on what's coming up. You may end up keeping Netflix for a couple shows, then Amazon Prime for a couple others, then need Disney's new service for a few others. Then someone's going to come along and sell monthly subscription packages that bundle a bunch of the services together for you, maybe they will be brought to your home through some cable or satellite dish.......
  22. 3 episodes in, we rewatched seasons 1 & 2 last week before starting the new season. Wife's now mad cause I have been busy at night with work and can't keep watching right now. I started watching Jessica Jones season 3, it's been pretty good so far. Also just finished watching Good Omens on Prime, that was pretty good too.
  23. They are apparently donating the infill sand and rubber to schools and playgrounds. I believe it's the same stuff or similar to what's in the Rogers Centre in Toronto. I remember when they first installed it players having issues because the infill rubber pellets would fly up into the air when balls hit the turf and could get in your eye. They said it would take some time to break the field in and have that stop.
  24. Well I would think you may need a bit more time to get married and file for divorce to get the settlement. Unless your that irresistible that you can achieve that after only one time?
