  1. I think the issue with heavy wind is similar to bbqing in the wind or cold and it's that the pot is sitting in the cold and the flame has to keep heating the oil up to temp while fighting the cooler temps outside trying to cool things down.
  2. I haven't deep fried a turkey, but have plenty of experience with big fryers working in the back of a KFC in high school. Definitely not don't put it in there frozen or wet since water and oil are not a good mix. Your best bet to get it in is to start slowly lowering it into the pot and once you can feel the oil supporting some of the weight to gently let it drop in (we used to have to drop in large baskets that held about 6 chickens and were supposed to use a big metal hook but found it much easier and safer to lower the basket in with your hand. You will want to move back quickly in case oil comes over the top. Once it's in and the oil level goes back down from near the top you can cover it if there's a cover. I don't know if I would put tarps or anything underneath that could melt or catch fire. I had a friend who bought one of those fryers and he gave the pot it came with to his wife and used the base in his garage as a heater. Not really smart to burn an open propane flame indoors, but it did put off alot of heat. I bought a propane 'oil less deapfryer' for the backyard a while back. Still in the box in my she'd because I haven't finished the patio/deck to use it. It's supposed to do the same thing as deep-frying by heating the metal plate around the food and radiating heat towards the food. It's the same as my full size BBQ that has a pan that sits below the grates covering the flame. The pan heats up evenly and radiates the heat to the food.
  3. I think that should say Rona (aren't they a sponsor for the league too?) It does sound like The Bombers made a good move getting their QB this year that helped turn things around when it counted. I was going for Hamilton too, but had this strange feeling the Bombers were going to get the upset. Picked the Bombers against the spread with all the late games yesterday and tonight MNF game. Baltimore by 5+ and I can win $175
  4. And when they have a tough schedule everyone uses that as an excuse to why they are bad. Yes, we all know you don't get to pick your schedule, but just because you can get all your wins against bad teams, doesn't mean everyone has to be impressed and declare you a SB contender. Right now people have looked at their record and opponents and feel that after watching their performances in the games, their easy schedule is why they have the record they do, not because they are just really good. As for the Cowboys, they aren't getting much praise either, but they get some respect because they aren't really struggling to get their wins like many of the Bills games, and their confidence in that team that they could still win a game if it turns into a shoot out. They only have 2 games where they have scored less than 20 points this season and haven't really been blown out either.
  5. Me too, I have held onto him all year and was trying to convince myself not to drop him.......
  6. Another think to look at is are the Broncos and Titans good against the run because they can stop the otther teams running game, or do they look really good cause teams can pass easily on them so no one worries about running much against them? It's become such a passing league today that giving up 100 yards total on the ground sounds almost average for most defences.
  7. They have their flaws, but they are also one of the better teams the Bills will have faced this season, and so far this year, when the Bills are facing a tough team, they haven't looked good. They scored the amount of points that the Broncos defence has averaged giving up this year (you could mention yards, but according to everyone yards don't matter, only the score board at the end of the game). The defence looked very good against one of the the worst offences in the league. The Bills did what they were supposed to do and won the game which is great. But if they want to be viewed as a contender and respected around the league and by the network's like everyone thinks they should be because of their record, they aren't going to get that by just doing what's needed to get the win. Everyone complains about excuses and that there's always going to be people complaining or having excuses 'they played a bad team', 'Allen didn't have x amount of yards', 'they didn't win by enough', etc. But the same happens with the other side 'well they shut the offence down and didn't try to score', 'if they didn't have a penalty here the score would have been different', 'Dayboll didn't call the right plays', 'If player X caught the ball.....'. It goes both ways. I don't think anyone here is not enjoying the wins or are wishing they would lose so they can be right. The problem is that while everyone's enjoying the wins, some are looking further then the scoreboard and see the faults in this team that will be a problem when they start having to play tougher competition. They don't look like a team that would have the record they do and more like a team who's stats are inflated by having a very easy schedule so far. Some may be happy just watching game by game and not expect much while hoping to have their expectations exceeded, others are looking ahead and taking a cautious approach because they know that not every team they face is going to be at the bottom of the standings. I just always assume RB is Ruben Brown, never would have thought Running Back
  8. But Free Agent Right Tackle is just so many letters to type out......
  9. It's more that the Cowboys are better then any of the teams that the Bills have beat this season. Are people here really confident that when they need to start playing the better teams in the league when they have to score more then 20 points, that the Bills will not have a problem doing it? They scored what the Broncos defence has averaged giving up all season.
  10. How can anyone be concerned? They scored 20 points (could have always scored more but just didn't feel like it). I bet KC and Baltimore are working right now to revamp their offences to copy the Bills juggernaut. Does anyone really feel confident that if the Bills had to play KC, Baltimore, SF, NO, or another of the top teams in the league that this offence could get them a win right now if the defence doesn't play lights out perfect? Come back in a few weeks with this post of the Bills shock the league and beat Dallas and Baltimore. Then you can start bragging and calling out all the people who doubted the offence.....
  11. Lynch also lost his QB early last season to injury for the season which gave him the bad percentage. Elway was still riding the previous GMs defence with Peyton Manning on offence
  12. To be fair, the one on Singleterry may have just been a strong gust of wind pushing him over a bit......
  13. Why does everyone think that the Cowboys won't be hungry or motivated on Thursday if they beat the Patriots? They don't have some huge divisional lead or a great record that they can have an off game or not be hungry and it won't hurt them. In other words, his Kale and Seaweed smoothie was ready a few minutes early.....
  14. As of this morning, Ti-Cats by 4.5 Ti-Cats are the Favorites, they beat Winnipeg both times they plaid this year but Winnipeg has looked much better with their current QB One of the woman at my daughters Daycare has a son who plays for Hamilton, a few years ago he was an Argo when they won it and brought the Grey Cup in to show the Kids I am going for Hamilton but I have a weird feeling Winnipeg wins on a surprise upset. Its the battle of the 2 teams with longest championship droughts in the league (Hamilton last won it in 1999) Its usually later in the afternoon, this year its in Calgary so its west coast time Have you seen the Sabres lately? Your not missing much......
  15. I think the Cowboys have a good shot at beating NE today, But win or lose, I don't feel good about the Bills winning on Thursday
  16. I'm talking about the cheap knock off stuff though, not the actual quality stuff built by them and passed off as 'Made in America'......
  17. I thought it was because I didn't wear my hat or scarf, or my jacket wasn't zipped up? That's what I was told as a kid and tell my kids every morning.........
  18. That's true and I'm not arguing that, but today, places try to make it sound like they treat even the lowest employee like they are a CEO and any position is great. People today also feel that every job should pay you do you can live comfortably even at the lowest skill positions. I think there has been a shift in how much perks and how well treated the higher ups are compared to the grunts. I think years ago that the lower level labour low skill jobs were treated a bit better rather then today where they are continually over worked and when broken, tossed aside. And the higher level skilled people are treated with way more perks to keep them happy.
  19. Just because you can't name many, doesn't mean there aren't more, might just mean you don't follow Hollywood today. With social media and tabloids like TMZ today, you hear about and find out way more detail on celebrities today, and way more people are being considered celebrities today then before because there's way more media for them to become celebrities compared to the 60s and 70s. Back then it was much easier to cheat the system and cover thing up compared to today where everything is documented and digital, records can be accessed from anywhere.
  20. That's because you didn't hear so much about the personally lives of the people in Hollywood that you do now. Today you could look up and find out almost any personal detail of a celebrity family on TMZ. There's more money and more people today making it harder to get in. Back then there weren't as many celebrities and rich people like today where every can be considered a celebrity.
  21. Never worked for them but bought alot from them. Find they are starting to go downhill, similar to eBay that it's all becoming Chinese knockoff stuff being sold by others through the site. It's seems like everything on eBay is now just people with online shops selling knockoff junk. With Amazon I'm finding there's more Chinese stuff being sold by other sellers. Prime doesn't seem worth it without the TV/movie aspect as I would get stuff just as fast by selecting free shipping here as I do using prime shipping. I'm not surprised to see there's a difference between how workers are treated, it's like that in most places. The people doing the heavy lifting positions that require bodies and not education are worked til they break then thrown away while the positions where they need educated people to create and do certain tasks are treated better and given the big perks. Those are what they use to describe and advertise how great of a company they are.
  22. Would the statute be made from the same material as the Nerf Football? Cause that would be awesome inside the stadium (not outside though)
  23. I was never a fan of Murray, thought he was a cocky pompous jerk most of the time, but I don't think he was as bad as everyone wants to make him out to be. His problem wasn't that he made moves or used resources to make them. That's what all teams and GMs do, they don't just collect their picks and prospects and wait for them all to magically develop into a juggernaut team, they use those picks and prospects to also make moves to obtain talent. Murray's problem was that he seemed to get really excited over certain players he liked and would overspend to acquire them. Robin Lehner was not a bad player to obtain (after now seeing what he can do when sober and getting help for his mental illness) but TM overspent to get him as he shouldn't have needed to spend a 1st to get him. Kane was also a good player, but knowing that the Sabres were the only team that could take him on before the deadline and let him sit the rest of the season, while giving Winnepeg something to use in their playoff push, he gave away too much to get him or should have gotten more in return with what he gave up. He seemed like a kid when it came to getting something he wanted and was willing to just give the other GM whatever they wanted to get that player. A good GM will get the guy they want, but not use up so many resources to get them. They would have used the fact that Ottawa had so many goalies, and Lehners injury history to their advantage and get him cheap. They would use Winnepegs needs for a playoff push and the fact that almost no other team could offer something to help them for a player who would play this offseason to basically steal Kane from their roster. Instead he paid market value or more to get them.
  24. I saw Gronk on Fox's pre-pregame show kind of defend it by saying there are times you blackout from anger building up during the game and then do something stupid that you immediately regret. He then used his hit on White as an example, saying he was held and had a bunch of things happen during the game to him that his frustration blew up and he dropped the elbow on him which he immediately realised was wrong and regretted. His whole explanation sounded more like he was suffering 'roid rage though......
  25. I don't need much time to figure out why guys want out, it's because losing sucks and they don't like it, even if it means the team will have a slightly better chance to draft #1 overall. Most of these players are brought in via trade and sold by the front office that they are going to do everything to turn things around and are on the cusp of winning, only to find that they want to take their time and wait for all their prospects to develop. The Pegulas have been sold on the idea that the only way to get good is to rip the team down completely, then take years to slowly build it back up, where you can't make moves to acquire veteran talent until you are on the cusp.
