Is Perry Fewell Mentally Retarded?
apuszczalowski replied to edwardslynchevans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly, you have to figure that at some point, you might as well change it up and try. Whats the worst that could happen, the Cards offence scores? They were doing that running the defence you had out there already And the Bills have blitzed many times this year, sending guys like youbouty or Whitner in on a blitz. It wasn't that they don't have the personal, it was that their game plan was not to get burned by "the big play", it was one of the keys to the game that they had on CBS's coverage. They were affraid to send in a Safety or CB to blitz because they felt that they might get burned on a big play. As for Schoebel or Stroud, yes, i believe they were questionable up to game time, but don't tell anyone else that, Schoebel sucks and should be cut or traded this offseason cause he is overpaid and not a Pro Bowler (even though he has been to 2 of them), and unlike another Bills Pro bowler, he actually played in the game -

No one is saying they aren't, but at that point in the game yesterday, it was the end of the game cause without a Buffalo score, or letting Arizona put more points on the board, the game was going to get too far out of hand. You have to know when the right time is to use timeouts in a game, and they aren't always just for the end of the game/half. Sometimes there are situations during the game that a timeout could be helpful. In that case, taking one then would be better then saving them for later in a game that was about to get blown out of hand. -
Its what I asked for so yes Although it doesn't go into details on the personal fouls, it does show he has a history of being penalized for it. It does speak a bit for him that coaches didn't think enough of him being dirty with all those personal fouls to consider him a dirty player though. As for the Lynch play, the tackle, or attempt to add to the tackle, may have been gratuitous, but that doesn't mean that he intentionally tried to rip off his helmet and injure him. Guys do lose their helmets alot and I would saw having your helmet pulled up and off your head seems more like an accident then having it spun 180 degrees around your head. I do think that because you have it in your head that Wilson is dirty because of the amount of personal fouls is clouding the judgement of the play a little in assuming that his intent was to hurt Trent or Lynch, while since Poz doesn't have a background like that and he is a Bill, you assume that his incidence wasn't dirty or had no intent to injure

All the games are important to win. NE may have lost Brady, but they are still a good team thats not a push over. And you don't want to lose any divisional games cause you don't want to help divisional opponents gain ground since those games are really worth more then other games. If the Bills really are a playoof/good team and want respect from the national media, they have to win games against teams like NE and SD, good teams, and also against teams that are as good or worse, like Miami and NY If you want respect and want to be a good team, you not only have to win games that you are expected to win, but also some that you are considered an underdog in

Kurt Warner - don't feel bad

Retarded in the slowing down/impedding sense though -

Exactly What were the Bills going to save the time out for? The defence was not stopping anyone at that point in the game, so its not like DJ could let the call slide and just let his D go out and get a 3 and out and save the time out for when his offence gets the ball back and catches up. The raiders game was different, at times the bills defence was stopping the Raiders and not letting them score on every drive. Yesterday they were not doing that. It was almost 100% certain that giving the ball back to Arizona at that point was going to lead to Arizona increasing their lead. So why not take a chance and maybe have a very close call that even the football guys on the TV doing the analysists said was close enough to be reviewed, and just maybe luck goes your way and it gets reversed giving the ball back to your offence. At worst, you lose a TO and your defence has to come up with a big stop, but they are a little more rested, and you gave you D co-ordinator a few more moments to set something up to stop them, instead of saving the TO for the end so that maybe they could delay the end of the game and stay on the field longer -
So if Wilson has a reputation, before Sundays game, where were previous incidents of his "dirty" plays? Just because he hits hard, it doesn't mean he is an assassin or dirty. And how is it arguable that Lynch losing his helmet was a deliberate move by Wilson, yet Poz ripping someones helmet around 180 degrees was an accident?

No doubt, the Cardinals have a great offence and lots of weapons, but its not just because of Warner. When he has time to throw, he can be almost as good as any QB, but pressure him and he crumbles, the Jets showed that, unfortunatly the bills defence decided thats not the way they want to do things -
So, as I said to Dave, would you consider Poz a dirty player when he spun the Jax RB's helmet around on that one hit?

So what were they going to save that time out for? the first time that the defence can force the Cards to turn the ball over without scoring to give the offence some extra time? That was a critical time and one that they should have asked for a replay for, even if they didn't think it would have been overturned. It wouldn't be a wasted Time Out. If the refs saw something and overturned it, the offence is back on the field and you just may have saved the game. If it is ruled the call stands, then they let the defence rest for a little bit longer and bought some time after the turnover to prepare for trying to stop the Cards and getting the ball back -
There is more to this loss then people want to see

So make him earn his new paycheck? Not just make him a one trick pony? I'm not against that -
So you don't want to talk about Poz cause you don't want to consider him a dirty player? Or because its fine when buffalo does something but when it happens the other way, the player is dirty?
-
Exactly. They don't honor the players because they had a good after football career, they honor them for what they did as a Bill on the field. OJ will always be a Buffalo Bill, unless someone can get that Delorean and change history. What he did after his Bills career has nothing to do with the bills themselves, and I hardly believe that anyone associates teh bills with what he did later on in life
-
Why aren't you talking about Poz? You brought up helping Lynch with his helmet so I compared it to a situation where a Bills player did something overly aggressive. I guess its not deliberate when you hit someone and there helmet spins around and does a 180 on someones head then.
-
Its true, the season isn't over, and its only one loss But you can't just put it behind you and say, "well the defending champs had lost a game by the same score and went on to win the SB, we will be fine" The key will be, can the Bills coaching staff and team learn from this and make the necessary adjustments to make sure it doesn't happen again and they get better from it? Will they come back stronger from this loss?
-
You can take anyone out with almost any kind of hit if they are in a vulnerable position like trent was in. It wasn't a "helmet to Helmet" hit with intentions to injure, it was helmet to helmet because they are around the same height and thats where peoples heads end up if they don't duck
-
Did Poz help Jones Drew (or was it Jax's other RB?) when he hit him and spun his helmet around while still on his head?

Exactly. Even if it isn't reversed, he atleast buys the defence some more time to rest before going back on the field -

Take out the part about the sacks, and the points he made were all reasons why they were able to put up 41 on the Bills so easily. Missed Tackles, missed blocks, stupid penalties, they all made it easier for the Cards offence to score easily. The Bills defence finally stops the Cards offence and keeps them in the game by forcing the FG, and Jenkins has the stupid penalty giving the Cards 4 more tries in the Red Zone for 7 instead of getting out of it with only 3 and still being in the game -

That was one of my biggest complaints about the game. We all saw what worked last week against the Cards in the jets game. We have all seen that pressuring Warner turns him into a turnover machine. It seems like the defence and the coaches went into the game thinking they were smarter then everyone else cause the defence was ranked so high that they could just come in and do what they have done to this point, instead of adjusting to neutralise the strengths of the opponent. They put no pressure on Warner, and decided that they prefered the idea of letting him try and beat them, something that if given time, he will do
