  1. That is actually really interesting to look at, seeing as how the both ofthem are so close in almost every category except sacks and YPG. Yet one is seen as the saviour of the franchise, and the other is seen as a guy who will never QB a team in the NFL again (or even the CFL) Its almost impossible to compare the 2 because they didn't get to play in the exact conditions. They faced different teams, had some different players playing on the same team at different times, and are 2 completly different kind of players. Losman is a "gunslinger" who is going to use his "athletisism" and take chances and look for the big play. He won't win games with his head, he will win them with his arm. Trent won't make the big throw, but he will win with his brain and will play the TOP game rather well. He is similar to Kelly Holcomb, but with more talent
  2. So I guess last year then Jauron was a good coach, able to get so many scrubs and backups to get onto the field and play hard, and now this year he sucks. I never said not to blame the coaching staff, my point is that the blame needs to be spread evenly around between the players and the coaches. These players are proffesionals and have been playing the game their entire life, they shouldn't need a coach to sit there and make the players play hard, they should be doing that on their own because they want to win.
  3. An how many of those teams have been to 4 straight, or even 2 straight? What people need to understand is that having an NFL team in your home town is not a right, its a privelage. Winning a championship is not a right either. If you don't like it, no one is making you continue to support the team.people seem to think that just because a team is located in your home town, that the owners of the team owe you a championship, and that its their job to spend their money to give you some satisfaction. If you don't feel that you are being entertained by the "product" they put out, then go find another "product" to enjoy
  4. The defence might not be fantastic, or a "top 10" defence, but its been good enough to not be considered the teams problem like you have said. If the offence puts up points and does not rely on Lindell kicking FG's all day, the Bills win a couple of the games they lost. The Bills team has only had maybe 2-3 bad games all year. The rest of the time they have been good enough to make the Bills a playoff team. The Defence doesn't need a complete overhaul right now, its the otherside of the ball that does
  5. Because name games like marty, and Cowher, and Seifert = instant success!
  6. Take out the part about taking too many sacks and you are starting to discribe Trent in about 50% of his games this year. Inaccurate? I think he completed under 50% of his passes this weekend Locks on to One receiver? JP had Evans, Trent has Reed (or when Reed was out, Lynch) Holds on to the ball too long? He has been doing that alot lately but he just hasn't been letting them end up as a sack Does not manage the play clock? He has been having to call a fair amount of Time Outs lately in the middle of a quarter because he can't get the play off in time I have as much confidence in Edwards snapping out of his slump as I do of JP QBing Buffalo to a win
  7. He writes a weekly article for TSN.ca and is on their version of Sportcentre a couple times a week as an anaylist. I believe there was a demand for him to play in the CFL but he and his father turned the offers down to get into broadcasting instead
  8. So when did they add into the coaches job discription the job title of Babysitter? These are grown men. They should be able to prepare themselves and know they should not spend the entire night before the biggest game of their careers drinking and partying all night. They should not need a "Babysitter" to have to make sure they dont get into trouble
  9. Before or after the Browns became the Ravens, and the NFL gave them the new Browns? Haven't all three of those teams also withing the last decade threatened the area for funding for a new stadium? (The only one I am not sure of being funded by the area is Ford field in Detroit)
  10. maybe he refuses to sell them before he dies because there isn't anyone who has seriously been able to step forward and make a serious offer to buy the team and guarantee they stay in Buffalo longer then their lease at RWS? Besides Jim and his "Mystery financial backers" that he supposedly had to buy the team, who else has stepped forward and said they want to buy the team but Ralph said no? maybe the reason why he refuses to sell the team before he dies is because its the only way he can guarantee they stay here atleast until he dies? Ralph has passed up making alot more money to keep the team in Buffalo. He could have sold the team over the decades and cashed out, or moved them somewhere that can make him more money.
  11. Palmer had great success on ABC's the Bachelor, and has a decent career now as a NFL analyist for TSN in Canada, LOL
  12. Playcalling, along with poor play from the QB position, dropped passes, bad penalties, horrid punting and kicking from both kickers. It wasn't just the play calling and the coaching that cost the Bills the game, the entire coaching staff AND players are to blame. Players don't call the plays, but the coaches also don't execute the plays on the field
  13. Don't take the blame away from the players, the coaching staff can only do so much, the players are the ones on the field who have to actually play the game, and the problem hasn't been that the players have been playing so well and the coaching staff just keeps doing moronic things to hold them back. Too many players were dropping passes, missing blocks, throwing weak passes, missing FG's, etc.... Thats on the players too Blame the coaches all you want, but the players deserve just as much of the blame. These are Pros who have been playing the game their entire life, they shouldn't need a coaching staff to hold their hands and lead them all game. The worst part for me at the game that made me disgusted with the fans was the reaction after half time to JP coming into the game. When about 3/4's of the stadium is booing the backup QB coming into the game, after the starter is not breathing any life into the offence is disgraceful. I thought people (Trent guys) didn't care who was playing QB as long as the team is winning? Its not like he was given a chance in the game and he stunk it up just as bad when the boo's started, all he did was march onto the field to start the second half. Even if he was put in not because Trent was hurt, why boo him? The team needed a spark, and Trent wasn't providing it in the 1st half. You have to make a decision at that point as to what you care more about this year, rebuilding and developing a QB, or keeping your slim playoff hopes alive.
  14. You mean, a veteran player should stand up in the locker room and take control of things, sort of take a leadership role with the offence????? But then wouldn't he be considered a malcontent and a lockerroom cancer for speaking up in the lockerroom?
  15. Don't put all the blame on the coaching staff, these players aren't playing that hard, or you would see more heart and tougher play on the field. Coaching has been to blame, but the blame is about the same for the players who don't seem to care about winning or losing, unless they are infront of the camera where they can feed the media and all of us the standard lines about how they just didn't execute today. Trent let a pulled groin muscle take him out of a game, how many other QB's around the league this year have you seen leave a game with an injury like that without putting up a fight?
  16. I'm so glad they are petitioning to open the roof cause it is definitly going to give the Bills the advantage in the game!
  17. Collinsworth just about snapped his ankle in half jumping off the Jets bandwagon tonight! and BLZFAN4LIFE, the worst part about the game was that the 49ers never even came close to biotch slapping the bills cause the Bills were too busy doing it to themselves. Both teams didn't play well enough to deserve the win. Buffalo was the one that looked like they just crossed the country to play an early game on the east Coast atleast the Bills can take pride in knowing they had a first this season, they were the first team to lose a game at home on the east to a west coast team during a 1 o'clock game!
  18. great, and they had such a great game the last 2 games. Now what? Are they going to be out with the flu????? J/K
  19. He's like Timmy When he is on the ice, he can be a great player (atleast McKee was in his prime in Buffalo), but the key is "When he is on the ice" Both players have/are disapointing now because they can't stay healthy and play consistently. I think McKee though is at the point that the injuries have caught up to him, that even when healthy, he still won't be the same guy he was in Buffalo As for the Front Office, I would say the Sabres (If you are talking about the current front offices, Regier and Quinn for the Sabres, Brandon Jauron and whomever, plus I will include Levy for the Bills). The Sabres front office seems too stubborn to realise they need to evolve with the game, and not hope the game evolves around them. They were lucky the first 2 years cause the team they had was built for the "New NHL", unfortunatly the NHL went back to the "Old NHL" (pre-lockout play) and the Sabres continued to stay the courseand build for the new NHL and hope the league goes back to it. They have to look at what the league is calling right now. Theres too many second tier guys expected to play top spots on the team, and no Top Tier level players. They were on the cusp of being great at oe point, but they let their best chances walk out the door to continue to stay the course and keep out of the red. Its hard to see the Sabres "vision" besides just staying out of the red, and keeping enough people in the seats to turn a profit year after year. Anything more on the ice is gravy to the FO The Bills on the other hand with their current FO, they are in full rebuild mode the last 3-4 years, and you can see what they are trying to do, build a young team that will stay competitive for many years to come, instead of loading up on vets (like the Jets for example) to make 1-2 more runs at it. The problem is, sometimes you get lucky and it takes no time (like Miami and Atlanta, although i would wait til after next yearbefore praises are dropped on either of them and see that they aren't one year wonders first) and other times it takes a little longer (like Tenessee for example, they didn't get to be 10-0 overnight). Theother problem is that the Bills have to have a tighter budget then the Sabres because of the league they are in. The NFL is much more expensive then the NHL, and in order for the Bills to stay out of the red, and not be priced out of Buffalo, they need to run a tighter ship at the moment andwatch their spending alot more.
  20. So does the rest of the US, whats your point? Are you complaining cause Canadians show some national pride and think that their home is better? Or is that something only Buffalonians are allowed to do?
  21. Ding, Ding, Ding We have a winner. The ticket prices in TO for that game are insanely high, witht he lowest tickets almost as much as sitting in the "Club seats" in Buffalo right now. Toronto is Canadas largest populated City, and is probably the closest city in comparison to the US. A team would survive there if the Canadian dollar was better and more stable so the exchange rate wouldn't be a huge obstacle for owners and players salaries. There are enough CFL fans who are diehards that would keep the Argos in alive and not kill the CFL, and enough people in Southern Ontario to keep an NFL team there if the tickets are comparible tothe average cost of an NFL ticket. The big deal with Toronto is that they have the corporations there and the big money to buy the luxury boxes and keep money coming in. They would have a small town company like Perry's Ice Cream being their biggest corporate sponsors at their games. If it was any other City then Toronto, like Calgary, Vancouver, Saskatoon, Montreal,...... then I would agree and say that the NFL has no chance because most people there will stick with the "National game" of the CFL and not be swept in by the NFL. Southern Ontario is more "Americanized" then the rest of the country, they have more influence and are much closer to the US then the rest of the country
  22. If you are afraid to put in JP just because he is going to leave at the end of the season, then why is he still on the team even as a backup? You can't have a team with players you are afraid to put in just because they will be gone as a FA at seasons end. I still don't know if trent is the answer, and have not seen in him what most people had seen in him since last year. Yes he was consistent and he kept drives going, but the majority of those drives ended in FG's instead of TD's. Wearing the clock down is great, and having a QB that can do that is a plus, if the end result is 7, or unless your defence is one of the best in the league and can keep teams from putting up more then 10-15 points a game. I would compare Edwards with Kelly Holcomb right now more then any other QB, he has his greatest success when he "dinks and Dunks". As for JP, yes he is done and will never be the starter again in Buffalo, unless he is in a visitors uniform, but I still wouldn't call him a complete bust. With his athletisim, he could always be a threat to toss a TD, but with that, he was also very likely to be reckless and turn the ball over. He is more suited for playing in a gunslinger offence. One where they have a couple of top notch WR's and they allow him to throw 30-40 times a game. he won'tbe a cerebral Qb like pennington that will win a game on his brains, he will win a game by using his arm and having the talent to just let him go deep often to some skilled WR's. Something like a Mike Martz "greatest show on Turf" offence. As for Hamdan, why is everyone so down on this guy? What have they seen from him that would make them so eager to proclaim he is nothing more then a scrub that should never see the field? The guy was big in NFL Europe, so he has to have some skill. I'm not saying he is going to be a starter in the league, but who says he couldn't be a great #2? Fred jackson, and Kurt Warriner had success in other leagues before they came tothe NFL and impressed. Why not Hamdan?
  23. Are you kidding me? He is one ofthe best players on the defence currently, and a defensive captain, and you call that missing on a pick? maybe if you used Youbouty, or Simpson, fine, I might be able to agree, but Whitner has stepped up and became a leader, and one ofthe better players on the team, thats not a miss. Taking McKelvin early is only "retarded" if it is obvious that he would be available later in the draft, at your next pick. Right now, the Bills took a guy who is supposed to be able to play a position in their defence and can be a huge upgrade on their special teams. McGee was getting to the point that his position on the team, and his age was getting to the point where he should not be out there on the field returning kicks on a regular basis, so they got one of college footballs best to replace him, and for now, be a backup at McGee's psoition too. The Cover 2 is supposed to rely heavily on the secondary, and the bills completly rebuilt theres using the draft. Of those 4 players that were mentioned by Bills vet that the Bills already had, (Clements, Greer, Milloy and McGee), 2 are the starters now (and one of them only stepped it up to become a starter last year after not impressing enough previously to be anything more then a depth guy), One was looking like he was getting to the downside of his career (Milloy) and the other wanted to be the highest payed player in the league. The problem has been that the Bills have also tried to fill some of the gaps on the team with some FA's that they hoped would pan out instead of just drafting everyone, and some have not workedthe way they had hoped. The defence has beengood enough to make them a playoff team, but not good enough to carry the team like the way some teams have had in the past. I said it last year too, if you looked at the defence, they kept the Bills in the game for about 90% of the time, If the offence could only score a little more, then they would have looked alot different. Right now, the Bills can't be too aggressive on defence because they are affraid to make a mistake. They know that if they make a mistake, it could cost them the game cause theres no guarantee that when the offence gets the ball back, they will do anything with it. Sustaining long drives on offence is good for the defence cause it gives them time to rest, but its no good when the end result is only a FG, like most of last season. A defence that is only allowing 20-25 points a game should not be considered a weakness in the NFL, your offence should be putting up bigger numbers. The offence shouldn't rely on the Defence or Special teams to make a big play and score the points. The offence needs to get the ball intot he endzone more often and give the defence more of a lead to play with. Thats when you will see this defence look more "aggressive" and alot better cause they won't be affraid of giving up that one big play that costs them the game
  24. I would rather watch MadTV then SNL which hasn't been funny in about a decade. But I would rather watch King of the Hill over The Simpsons, and hey, Fox canceled that one too!
  25. That was the problem I heard, the ity is still loking over the contract but gave them the go ahead to start, the City hasn'tsigned the deal yet. I think they were too busy trying to get back the stolen items from the arena so they can re-sell them then do something meaningless like sign a contract
