Vic Carucci says Bills to make major changes
apuszczalowski replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I bet he has also never thrown the winning pass in a SB, or kicked a winning FG, doesn't mean he will come out of retirement to do it. Does anyone know if Cowher even wants to run an organisation on his own from top to bottom? And how did he earn that level of power? By being a good coach? Most questioned Marv being given a try at GM after being a HOF coach. My point is, Bill Cowher has done all he needs to as a coach and doesn't have to come back and prove anything. He can continue to live the stress free life of TV analyst until he finds a spot as a coach that he likes best for his family and himself. He doesn't need the money, or to try and gain respect, or win a championship. He will come back on his own term only, if he ever wants to -

Sorry, I forgot that teams never make signing mistakes -
Why mess with it? Hangartner has played pretty good so far. Leave Wood at guard til Hangartner is gone or hurt, then move him over to the middle. One less hole to fill next year

?? The Bills had one of the better blocking TE's in the league (Royal) and the fans chased him away cause he kept dropping passes. Normally, you get one or the other. A good receiving one or a good blocking one

But now the Bills have drafted 2 good guards, who are playing on a line with only 1 player who had an NFL start before this season started, and you want to say inexperience isn't the problem???? This current line needs some time to gain some experienced before we start over again, or bring ineven more rookies to start on it -
Which players would survive a regime change?

Its impossible to say until you know what kind of system the new regime is going to run on offence and defence -

Ralph isn't stupid or senile either, he knows all this and spends money, but it just makes fans feel better to blame him cause he does spend like others -

FOR THE LAST TIME, BILL COWHER IS NOT COMING TO COACH IN BUFFALO It wont be because of money, or Ralph, or whatever. It will be because he has nothing left to prove in this league and never has to coach again. IF he decides to come out of retirement and coach somewhere, it will be because it fits his life outside football and himself the best. He doesn't need the money, he has a championship, and he will be a HOFer coach, he also has a real nice job that probably pays him what he made asa a coach and only involves a fraction of the work it does to coach -
You would keep AVP, whose the guy calling the plays for one of the worst offences in the league, and the reason why the Bills are losing, yet fire Fewell, whose defence is actually keeping the Bills in games until late when they just become gased from being on the field the entire game cause the offence can't do anything with the ball? Right now, Fewell and April are the only guys I would consider retaining if the new coach wanted to keep the same system

it was reported that at the deadline, Baltimore called the Bills wanting to make a deal for TO, but Buffalo told them he wasn't available and they were happy with him
-
Well, sign for training camp and season ticket sales, then Trade As for Stevie "Hall of Fame" Johnson, if any of the other GM's in this league saw even half the potential or ability in him that the fans here do, he would have never made it past the first game on the practice squad

Just like being a successful offence starts with having a QB behind center with the RB behind him (the Wild Cat would never be a success!) The structure doesn't always matter, its that the people in charge calling the shots are teh right people calling the shots that they were hired to do. This front office (and the owner) aren't that stupid, they know they can't give excuses for another year of no playoffs, and keeping the same coaching staff. They may allow DJ to "Step down", but they will not come back next season with him as HC cause the lemmings (fans that bought into T. the saviour O.) are too far gone to fall for the Sign a Big name FA trick now. The only thing that might convince fans to spend with DJ back is if somehow they get Brady, Peyton, or Brees for a 5th round pick this offseason

Yeah, but you don't get it If the offence, when they do get the ball back and the defence has held the opponents off the scoreboard or to only a FG, they need to do better then go 3 and out and put the defence back on the field. Right now, all that will come from the Bills defence making their opponents go three and out, is the impotent offence will just get a few more chances to go 3 and out and put the defence back on the field. I'm not saying that the Bills defence is top 5 in the league, but if you give them an offence that can atleast score more then 20 points a game, they would be in the top half of the league and the Bills have a winning record. It doesn't matter how many yards you give up to another team, its about how many points are scored, and if your defence keeps other teams out of the endzone, it should be enough for most competent offences in the league to win games. You can't expect to win by hoping your defence can keep teams from scoring under 10 points in the NFL on a regular basis Now as you say in your last sentence, that teams move slowly to wear the Bills defence down keeping them on the field, if the Bills offence was remotly competent, and scored some points, the opposing team couldn't waste time just trying to wear down the defence and they would get time to rest off the field while the offence is on the field for more then 3 plays, and take pressure off the defence from having to be perfect just to stay in the game

Not bad, not bad or, instead of a firing squad, family member of those shot should be allowed to be the "firing squad" Firing Squad is a bunch of trained marksmen who will kill him with one shot so they done't "suffer". Let some inexperienced shooters get a few shots each until one gets the "kill shot"

If Garcia could still take a team to the playoffs, why is he still available? The problem is, will adding even more inexperience to this o-line by drafting a rookie LT really going to help? If Bell is not the answer after gaining the experience from this year, get a FA LT As for no QB being able to play behind this line, Aaron Rodgers seems to do really well behind a horrible o-line. A good QB can make a bad o-line better because they can make better decisions and get the ball out to his players. You can give TE all day to through, but it still doesn't mean he is going to be able to get the ball out to his WR's and not just check down every play -
The bar is set really low this week for me
apuszczalowski replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But we will all be right back here after the game complaining about how bad the defence is and how do we fix it. With offensive explosions of those 2 field goals, whom can blame them Seriously, a few weeks ago, I would have said even with how bad the Bills have been, they will win, the Titans have just been that bad, but after the Bye and switching from Collins to Young, they have really caught fire and are starting to look more and more like the Titans of last season. -
You rode the shortbus to school, right? Most of the yards and points are given up late in the 3rd, and the 4th quarter when the Bills defence has been on the field for 2/3 of the game. The Bills defence held the NFLs top offence (NO) to one of their lowest scoring games this year, and were in the game until late cause the offence is impetent. Same with teh houston game, they were in it til the second half, even though they were given many chances to take over the game It doesn't matter when the defence makes the stop because the offence can't keep themselves on the field for more then 4 plays when they get the ball. If you actually watch the game and not just read the stat lines afterwards, you would see that during the first half the Bills defence might give up some big yards, but they keep the other teams offence out of the endzone. That is the most important thing. The league doesn't give out wis based on stats, they give out wins based on who scores more points. By the second half in most games, the Bills offnce hasn't been able to stay on the field for more then about a dozen plays and they keep giving the ball back to the defence. Put an offence on the field that can control the ball to stay on the field longer and actually score TD's, the defence would look much better cause they haven't been on the field for 60-70% of the game

That only works so many times, signing a big name. There is no way, short of the Bills winning out the season that DJ is employed the day after the season ends no matter how many years are left on his contract. Ralph may be old, but he isn't an idiot or senile. The only reason DJ is not gone know is cause he knows that theres no one on staff that is going to improve them that much more at this point and they are just riding out the season. They have their tickets sold this year. He knows next year though that BIG changes are needed in order to get fans back. Unfortunatly, the fans probably will never be happy with the choice cause it won't be one of the top guys that everyone assumes is available (remember, wanting to coach here has to be mutual, and its not always about money. Alot of these guys have made their money and won championships and have nothing more to prove, they can take their cushy TV jobs and spend lots more time with their families now making good money)

Depends on where the pick is and whats available. Right now the Bills have a VERY young/inexperienced line, is getting another rookie to replace someone who was a rookie this year really going to help? They drafted 2 linemen this year, have a decent "veteran" center, and a young LT whom everone expected to be the future LT for the Bills. I would say I would lean heavily towards QB. Trent seems like he would be a great #2, but I don't see him as ever being a guy that is going to put a team on his shoulders and carry a team -
Would you take Mangini
apuszczalowski replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not, everyone seems to think the Bills have to hire a coach and GM that has been a winner somewhere else cause it will guarantee success in Buffalo, or that hiring a Co-ordinator with no HC experience won't work cause MM and GW failed here -
Brett wanted to come back to the Packer around the time the were starting training camp, after he had already announced his retirement. Had he said after that playoff game that he can't wait to get back into training camp and hopefully avenge the playoff loss, he would have been a Packer. Instead, he had his tearful retirement about how he did not have that will to keep going anymore at a high level and he announced his retirement. The Packers moved on, and so did the fans. The Packers said he would always be welcome back, but the would be behind Rodgers because they were already prepared for the next season with Rodgers at QB. As for the Bills o-line, They aren't going to replace Bell, he is the supposed LT of the future, and they don't need a RG cause they can keep Hangartner there until his contract is up. The o-line just needs everyone healthy, and some more playing time/experience, they do need some better depth though

hmmmmmmmm Didn't Bill Bellicheck flop out in Cleveland too? -
Favre had been playing the "Will I"/'Won't I" retirement game the couple of seasons before that, the difference was that tthe last time the Packers said they wanted an answer earlier in the offseason cause they didn't want to wait until the last minute to have to start getting Rodgers ready for the start of the season. Favre just thought that because of who he was that he could make a choice whenever he wanted and the team would bend over backwards. I bet Favre is happy too that he can go and sit on a team that has been a QB away from SB contender the last few years. The difference between Rodgers and Favre is that even with horrible o-lines, Rodgers and his offence can score more then 20 points a game and break more then 300 yards with apparently less talent

Should TO continue to start?
apuszczalowski replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stop trying to defend TO A true team player still would have tried to go after the guy that picked off the ball. And TO has always been known as a guy that drops just as many balls as he catches, even when he had that "half decent QB" in Romo. The guy has nothelped out the offence at all this year with his half effort on plays. Whats it going to matter if the Bills put that double coverage onto Johnson or Hardy? Its not like Lee is now ripping it up cause all that extra coverage is being put onto TO, like it was supposed to do. No one is saying that TO is the only reason why this offence is brutal, but for the "future first ballot" HOFer, he sure isn't looking anything like that this season
