  1. I thought they weren't going to do any hiring until the offseason? Plus, with them already having a black head coach, would they need to interview another? couldn't they just say they interviewed him when they gave him the interim job? As for Holmgren, just cause he said he would be interested in Clevland, doesn't mean he wouldn't go anywhere else if offered
  2. thats a good possibility. And hey, if he can take this group of banged up street FA's and have a winning record in the remainder of the teams games, I would give him the job cause he would be considered a miracle worker in my eyes
  3. Pennington is also considering retirement right now and is unsure if he will ever play again, I don't think I would offer the guy anything more then an incentive laiden deal at the veteran minimum and have him compete for the starting job in training camp As for Vick, If he can still play, I say why not, he did his time, and if he can help this team, bring him in. I can't say I have seen enough from his very limited time as a backup in Philly to say that he can't play anymore. Going to the Eagles with McNabb was a horrible career move for him if he hopes to be anything more then a backup in the NFL. How did he expect to show he can still play sitting on the bench behind McNabb running an ocasional wildcat play. But even with bringing him in, I would still have a plan 'B' just in case.
  4. Its not that the QB has to teach them much, its more that they need to work on timing and getting used to tendencies of their QB. One of the most important things for a QB and his WR to have is timing. Without it, you get overthrown balls, incorrect route running, dropped balls, etc.
  5. Lets wait and see what Levitre can do playing LT for therest of the season, maybe the Bills have a decent LT here, and have his backup in Bell. As for QB, pick someone up off of FA this year and see what you have in Brohm, he was a 2nd rounder with decent College stats. Theres plenty of other areas the Bills can chose from in the draft to improve this team, itsnot like they have areas they don't need to upgrade. Plus, without knowing who the new coach/GM is, we have no idea what direction they want to go in and what they are going to need. I would be looking offence in the draft personally (if they plan on going with the same schemes) as the defence has been Good Enough to keep them in games and win, its the offence thats holding the team back. That doesn't mean the defence couldn't use some upgrades, but if you want to improve on what you have and not start over from scratch, the offence is where the focus should be
  6. If they were looking to make TO a very happy player, thats the kind of QB they should have been bringing in, someone who will throw the deep ball all day long.
  7. Throw in everyones favorite, Bill Cowher - 15 years, 2 SB appearances, only 1 SB Ring
  8. But those guys aren't proven winners like Cowher. Thats the only way you can win in this league according to everyone here
  9. Well, Vic Carrucci, who on the day that Jauron was fired was on the radio in an interview, and he had said not to get too excited cause Shanahan is in line to take over the Washington job, and that his interest in Buffalo is more of a negotiating tactic to get a better deal in Washington, and that Schefter may just be "helping out a friend" with that "report". Carrucci still has alot of ties with the Bills organisation, so I wouldn't disregard anything he ahs to say either. He doesn't usually report something without some truth to it. He also thinks that the Bills will be looking at a more "Offensive minded" coach now
  10. I hope he sings "Loving You, Is Easy cause your Beautiful........"
  11. maybe theres no one out there even worth bringing in at LB, or DT or O-line. Its not like they are passing on some Pro-Bowlers out there just to add another DB.
  12. I have said it since the start of the year that theres a very good chance that the next coach is currently in the UFL. Its more likely that happens then Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden coaching the Bills
  13. You went with Jeff George in this debate and not the future HOFer on the unemployment line of Jeff Garcia??? I don't get all that hype for Garcia as anything more than a backup that went on when the Raiders cut him. He was decent for a while, but now he is not a quality starter anymore. He might be better then a couple of starters in the league, but unless you are desperate for a starter and are a serious playoff contender, why waste the time and money on Garcia instead of trying out someone with some future potential?
  14. Do we realistically have a chance at those 2, I say no, and it has nothing to do with Ralph and how much he would spend. Cowher is not coming back to coach, unless it is on his own terms, in a situation that fits him and his family the best. He has no reason to come back and coach, he has achieved it all as a coach, and HE LEFT, on his own terms, a much better situation in Pittsburgh then what he would get here. Its being said he would be interested in Carolina cause its close to his home. As for Shananhan, its rumored he is already in line to take over the spot in Washington (if they get rid of Zorn, which has about a 1,000,000% chance of happening) as a coach/GM. According to that rumor, any interest in the Buffalo job would be only a negotiating ploy to drive up the offer from Dan Snyder
  15. really, thats not hard to guess that he would "Resign". Alot of coaches are given that option to save some face and make their exit look better, and Ralph is to nice of a guy to just go out and fire someone, especially someone whom he like personally.
  16. Same could be said about Cowher, and yet everyone keeps going on about how they want to see him coach here
  17. Didn't the Bills have that amount after week 2 of last season?
  18. Except that this deal is repordidly for around what he would get if he took a job as a Head coach, and he has less work being on ESPN. He isn't coming back to coaching with this deal, that was the whole point of ESPN making this deal, I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is a penalty for leaving it early
  19. Vic Carrucci has said that the Shanahan rumor is not likely true. He says that Russ Brandon has not spoken to anyone yet, and that if there is interest from Shanahan, it may be a negotiating tactic as he is apparently the top choice of the Redskins right now
  20. He could make it 2-2 after this weekend. He is viewed as one of the top coaches in the CFL right now, and has a background coaching in the NFL too. He could be a really good pick
  21. Ok, so then I guess they put in Hamdan, or maybe Fred Jackson or Moorman, cause according to you Fitzpatrick isn't the best one, and Edwards hasn't done much better.
  22. This is the dumbest Post here in a while. Can the team do anything right? They don't fire DJ and they are horrible and won't do anything until they get rid of him. Now they get rid of him and they are doing the wrong thing cause it was at the wrong point during the season? What good would keeping DJ around for the rest of the year have done? How many teams that fire their coach during the season have someone new hired mid season instead of promoting someone internal and placing an interm tag on them? The only thing this does right now is gives the Bills a jump on interviewing permanent candidates now, and seeing what they have in a potential coach option in Fewell
  23. Like the Redskins who are supposed to have Shanahan at the top of their list for Head coach/GM Of course, thats only if they decide to let go of Jim Zorn
  24. Enough with the 3-4, changing now would set this team back about another 2-3 years, and its one of the only units that has been decent the last few years. This defence has almost no players that could work in a 3-4, it would be a complete overhaul at this point
  25. It was another "Damned If you Do, Damned if you Don't" choices. They let them attempt a 50+ yard feild goal, after the kicker already was short on another 50+ yard FG earlier, or you accept the penalty and hope that your defence can stop them from converting, something they couldn't do on the last 3rd and long the Titans had.. There was no "right choice" like everyone thinks
