What else can they do? Overpay for a Prescott or Dalton? Or resign Brady for 1-2 years and draft his successor this year?

How to Define a Franchise QB in Today's NFL
apuszczalowski replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's more likely the standard gets lowered as to what make a Franchise QB. Even the 3 guys you mention are closer to retirement then being part of a new era of QBs. Who else is left since them? Look at the guys drafted in the last 5 or so years and who was expected to be the next group. Marriotta, Winston, Goff, Wentz, and Prescott, all taken and expected to be franchise guys but are being questioned. Recently you have the Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, Rosen, Jackson draft where Jackson has been the best so far and many don't think his success will last. Mahommes and Watson might be the 2 best in the last few years and it's questionable if they can sustain a high level of play over multiple seasons. -
Playoff #1 Bills @ Texans PostGame Thread

The only people who think Daboll is horrible and bad are Buffalo fans, outside of them he is thought of highly as a good coach. Frasier isn't getting the attention because he has had HC jobs before and teams don't want defensive guys as HCs anymore. The trend is to go for Offensive guys to run the team because it's an offensive league. -
I think the fans sent the message with the large turnout at the game to cheer them on and support them during the game. Average does make it when you have a cupcake schedule and most of the league is average or worse.

How to Define a Franchise QB in Today's NFL
apuszczalowski replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This era/idea of having a franchise QB who will carry a team to dominate for 10-15+ years is over I think. I don't think your going to see the Brady/Brees/Manning's anymore. The way offences are moving Nd the types of QBs coming out today will probably be very good for 3-5 years before injuries take effect or they get figured out and become average -
But who else is going to give them their participation ribbons and make sure their feelings won't be hurt after their loss? Buffalo is used to celebrating just being there and moral victories.......
-
They have made the defence the primary focus since they got here and will probably continue that this offseason too. This front office still thinks the way to success is defence first You want to use the oline as an excuse yet they were just beat by a team with one thats worse and doesn't need to use it as an excuse
-
It's Buffalo, where moral victories and mediocre play get you fans waiting at the airport for you to arrive......
-
So was the Bills offence this year...... But they also blew a double digit lead in the 2nd half, of course it wouldn't have been as easy if the lead was more then just 2 scores.......
-
Why would NE not keep him? They have no one behind him to replace him so they are better off keeping him and getting a couple more playmakers this offseason. I would be surprised to see them make a few moves to draft his replacement early in this draft.
-
I'll believe Brady won't be QBing that team next season when I see it.
-
You think they are going to leave cause the NFL fines Kraft some money and a draft pick that they probably get back as compensatory picks? They already have said they can't link any of it to BB and the coaching staff so it's going to be a fine and maybe a pick or 2 at most.

Who said they were playing not to win against the Pats? This was a team with a bad offence that was able to get into the playoffs because of an easy schedule and there being alot of bad/mediocre teams in the league this year. They couldn't beat the good teams and needed alot of help and luck to squeak out wins in games against bad teams. -

They also don't appear to have the cupcake schedule they had this year....... And they barely beat the Jets the 1st game where they needed the Jets kicker to not be able to make a kick, there's a good chance the Jets could have squeaked out a win in the last week too. Who cares if they 'almost' beat the Ravens and Pats, the end result was still the same, they were all losses.... -

Defence wins championships...... Who needs to be able to score more then 20 points in a game to win? And the most important thing today, fans can be happy that neither QB threw for 300 yards! -

Who said it was Dabolls decision? Maybe he wanted to use him but McDermott was hesitant to let him play? -

Are you kidding? They probably consider that an honor, also may have gone up in value because of its uniqueness now..... -
NFL Black Monday - Coaching Changes

Rex should be put in there, what did the truck ever do to anyone? -
I see the Titans beating the Patriots this week, they are a good team and this is one of the rare down years for the Pats where they will lose in the playoffs, people will spend all season talking about how the dynasty and Brady are done, then they come back reloaded next year and dominate again. Brady is still Brady, he isn't holding them back this year. They will get a couple of guys that will work better with him this offseason and improve the line and be back looking like the favorite again next year. As for the Bills, I don't have a good feeling going into the game and think they lose this one in another ugly low scoring game where the defence will do enough to hold the Texans to around 20 points and the Bills offence will put up 10-14 points and lose. Hopefully I'm wrong and the Texans have one of their bad games that they have had this year, but I don't see it happening. It looks like just like the Pats game, I will miss the end of it for my hockey game that day........

Meathead [Gronkowski] strikes again

I wouldn't really call him an analyst, he's just a former player they trot out their to try and get ratings hoping he does something goofy or dumb that will get people laughing. -
I think you have to throw in that they also keep Wade rotting away on the practice squad, have shackled Allen from putting up big stats, have the worst OC to every hold the position in the NFL, have the worst kicker/punter combo in the league and can't move forward because the league won't allow owners to own 2 franchises in the same city in different league's and you have covered it all......

Not really a spoiler but, My brother's a big Star wars fans and he still can't get over the space horses...... -
I do, I really don't see NE doing anything in these playoffs, although Info see them being back to their old selves next year though, this is their one off year when everyone thinks they are done then come back again next year to make everyone look like fools for.thinking they are done.....
