  1. They are also either really old or have some serious injury concerns, or grossly overweight w/ attitude issues. How are these guys going to "dramatically improve the o-line this year" from IR? Taking a flyer on these guys would also require the bills to have to cut someone from the roster that they want to look at. They are not building for this year, they are building for the future. They don't want to have one good year and then have to re-build half the team again. They want a team thats going to have a solid core that can maintain success over a long span. This unfortunatly takes some time and patience, which bills fans don't have. and enough about how this o-line is going to get Fitz killed. He made it through last season just fine, and he performed well enough with it that he has won over fans who now believe shouldn't even have to compete for the starting job. Also, that quote from Nix is nothing new, he said it before training camp started, that the o-line was a concern of theirs.
  2. Although I'm sure that after a couple weeks of training camp and one preseason game you can already determine that hairston is a bust because he isn't starting yet How have you not been hired by the bills to evaluate talent yet, you could save them tons of cash if you can already prove after 1 year, that Wang and Calloway cannot play in the NFL
  3. I don't think their defence is that great, and with the current offence they have, they could be as bad or worse then what most believe the Bills will be this year.
  4. Its kind of ironic and funny to see Bills fans bashing other teams for picking up Bills castoffs, when bills fans are always screaming and throwing tantrums cause the bills don't pick up others teams trash. Except in the Bills fans case, those guys are never trash, they just need a change of scenery/new scheme to play in, could be kept on the roster and rehabed back into their former self, or they are "better then what the Bills currently have"
  5. I forgot about McKelvin, he has already begun his quest to be the new Whipping Boy
  6. it has to be Kelsay, although he is usually one of the punching bags around here every year so its tough to say he counts. Probably Roscoe, Moorman/Lindell seem to be emerging as favorites, Pears or anyone else listed in the tackle positions, Urbik? no way its Florence, fans were begging he re-signs.
  7. But if he is only a short term answer, why take away valuable in game learning/experience from guys they think may have the potential to be a long term solution? If he is close enough to 100% and he can be the long term answer, I'm all for bringing him in, if not, then why put off seeing what you currently have at that position? its not like he is the final piece to the puzzle that will take them to being a SB contender. They are still atleast a year or 2 away from that. We all know that this year is not going to be a playoff year, wo then it becomes an evaluation year for the team. Of course you go out and try to win every game, but you also want to evaluate what you have and see what you need
  8. So why do you stay with the Bills if they have always been (or 90% of the time have been) only mediocre? What else can you do except consider yourself lucky that he has been a good enough owner to not take his team and run at the first chance to make more money and has guaranteed that the team stay in Buffalo until atleast the day he dies? Its not a right to have an NFL team in any location, its a privelege. Most fans don't seem to realise that. If you don't like it, go support a team that gives you the joy you crave. you will find out that life can be a little less miserable if you do that And why should he look past his death? So that the fans that have been wishing he would either die or sell cause they think things will be free spending with a new owner will be happy? He has guaranteed the Bills won't move anywhere until he is gone, has kept the tickets at or near the lowest in the league, and made games affordable for the average fan. I won't think any less of him or blam him just because he won't guarantee that the team will stay in Buffalo past his death
  9. Well, the Front office can do what the fans want, which is to bring in anyone they have heard of before on ESPN just to fill the spot because "they obviously have to be better then what they currently have" which may or may not help the bills win a game or 2 more this year (but still not make them a playoff team) OR They can play out a year with the young, inexperienced guys they do have, giving them valuable in game experience and learning, and find out what they do have in the players on the roster, all while ending with the same results, a non playoff team with maybe a slightly higher draft choice and a better idea of what they need in this years draft. I would rather they spend this year evaluating Pears, Hairston, Wang, Wrotto, etc and giving them valuable in game experience, then bringing in guys who are over the hill (Flozell), overweight (McKinnie), dealing with/coming off of a very serious injury (Gaither), or a mixture of any. now I'm not against them bringing in a guy like Stinchcomb for a look to see what kind of shape he is in, but its sounding like he is not near 100% and will not be much of a help to a rebuilding team at this point on the field. But if they bring him in and see that they can work with him to get him back to 100% like they did with Merrimen, i would be all for signing the guy, but I won't kick and scream and through a TBD tantrum because the front office didn't sign a player who was just released coming off surgery and an injured season because his name is known and "he has to be better then what my proffessional scout eyes have seen from internet reports, a pre-season game, and or training camp"
  10. Exactly. Everytime the Bills don't draft who someone here wanted, or don't sign a big FA, or don't win as many games as a fan thought, its always fire the coach or GM. new coaches and GM's like to bring over new styles/schemes that they are more familiar with. The Bills would have been much further along in their rebuild if they had hired a coach who liked/or was willing to run a Tampa 2 defence. But everyone wanted them to go 3-4 which was probably the hardest change for the team to do because their defensive players were probably the furthest away from being the kind of players needed, and it would take a lot longer for them to draft and find the right players (and evaluate the guys they do have to see who may work in it). It doesn't matter if you draft skill players or guys of need with your picks though, what does matter is that you pick quality players and not guys just to fill a need, especially in the higher spots. The problem for the Bills is that they have either wasted their pick taking guys that are high risk of being a bust (Maybin, McCargo) because they fill a need, or they have taken guys that just don't have the right attitude to play here (McGahee) or off field issues (Lynch). Then theres the odd time where they pick a guy who just didn't work out (Whitner, Poz, Mike Williams, all guys who were rated as good players, but just didn't work out to reach the potential of what we expected of someone who is drafted where they were)
  11. Aside from Spiller and Dareus, none of those picks were made by the Nix/Gailey regime so you can't blame them that they didn't work out and use it against the "Building through the draft" method they said they were going to use. And besides Nate Clements who priced himself out of Buffalo, the rest of the guys (except for maybe Lee) were being run out of town by the fans because they weren't good enough for them.Should Nix and Gailey pay to keep those players around just because they were drafted by the team? problem with building through the draft, it takes time and patience, something bills fans are in short supply of. It made harder if you miss on players, But when it works, the rewards are much greater because the winning is usually not short lived (like building through FA). Its not a quick fix, its usually a long term solution
  12. And without him, there is no team So your choices are to accept this, move on to another team, or pray that Pegulia is or can become the Biggest Bills fan in the world and drills a few more oil wells to be able to pay top dollar to outbid any other bidders when Ralph passes so he can keep the team in Buffalo. Unless of course you have enough money stashed away in your mattress (or enough credit to get a billion dollar loan) to buy them and keep them in Buffalo?
  13. You are right, it was all his fault in the 2 years he was here. He was handed a SB contending team from Tom Donahoe who was a master of great drafting and signing quality FA's. marv may not have made many good moves while he was in charge, but he was brought in to try and change the culture around the team (a calss organisation with high character kind of guys). His plan failed and he realised he was not the right guy for the job so he left. He is hardly the reason why this team is in the mess its in. Tom Donahoe started this mess, Marv made a quick attempt to turn things around, and Jauron and company continued bringing things down. So far, Nix and gailey seem to be showing signs that they know what needs to be done and are making the moves to change things, unfortunatly for them, Bills fans have no patience and very short attention spans, so when things aren't changed overnight (like how all teams are rebuilt from the ground up), they look to find a new saviour to step in and change things again.
  14. please keep facts out of all Arguements here at Two bills Drive. i could have also came here and said something like "Didn't Moss (multiple time pro-Bowler, possible future HOFer) get traded for a 4th?" or "Didn't Boldin get traded to the Ravens for a 3rd and a 4th last year"? But I won't because facts have no place here at Two bills Drive when in an arguement about how bad the front office is and how cheap Ralph Wilson is. Its not like those guys are any better then Evans........
  15. Wait a minute, Hold on here Are you trying to say that in the first pre-season game, that the coaching staff may have wanted the kicker to do something he normally would try not to do, so that the coaches can evaluate players on a certain aspect fo the game, and not worry about trying to win a glorified meaningless practice/scrimmage? Thats insane, don't you know that all the good teams go out and play all out to win every game in the pre-season because that team will be the Super bowl Winner? In the 1st pre-season game the fans should expect a final polished product with mistake free football instead of backups playing most of the game and coaches using this time to evaluate different aspects of the game/team and players
  16. There a much better chance that the Bills cut McGee, then of them cutting Kelsay, but we can have a million discussion/threads about why he is still on the team and about how he should be cut the at the first group of cuts. McGee is getting up there in age, and he is having trouble staying healthy the last few seasons, although I have heard reports from Gailey/Nix saying that he is in probably the best shape he has been in a couple years and 100% right now, also that McKelvin is looking really good out there, so they have been moving McGee to the nickel spot during practice and will probably have him playing there alot this year
  17. Its funny, Just a few days ago, everyone here was talking about the abundance of WR's in teh Bills camp and how many the Bills can keep, worrying they would need to cut someone like Roosevelt, or hide him on the PS. Now they make a move so they can open a roster spot and give these guys some game experience, its a horrible move. There were a bunch a posts about how they should deal Evans, and how the Bills didn't really need him. They do it, and now he is a great player they can't live without? The Bills have lost plenty with Evans, its not like they are suddenly going to lose more because he's gone
  18. What if he gets hurt or doesn't improve on his numbers from last year? You realise that better WR's in this league haven't been traded for much more then what the Bills just got for Evans. Boldin, who is MUCH better was had for a 3rd and a 4th. There was no way Buffalo was going to get a 1st or a 2nd for Lee, and would have been REALLY Lucky to get a 3rd.
  19. What, you mean the typical "The Bills should trade this guy away to get something for him. Another team is looking for a player at that position and the guy has lost a step or two and is not great" Then, when they make the deal and its not for the ransom that fans wanted "Why did those senile idiots just give him away???? He was valuable here and now they have another hole! The Bills and Ralph are cheap, Buddy's asleep on teh job, everything sucks here WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
  20. Heck, i would rather watch South Park over Pre-Season Buffalo Bills Football I barely watch any of the pre-season stuff, its just a slightly more exciting version of practice. I would rather spend my life enjoying otherthings then playing arm chair GM, evaluating 3rd and 4th stringers playing in a meaningless game. When the real season starts, I will watch every game that I can though
  21. The olympics almost never make money, and usually end up costing the host cities money. Its such a waste of time and money to have them because its all about "the spectacle" and trying to one up the last games. A bunch of venues get built and then hardly used again when the 2 weeks are up Chances are, the Canadian, Ontario, and Toronto government will not be willing to build a new Football stadium in Toronto (the Canadian Government has already told other cities like Quebec City, and Edmonton that they will not pay to build them new arenas because then they would have to do that for everyone that wants one), bu just because they won't make a bid for the Olympic Games, doesn't mean they won't help get an NFL team to the City. The NFL makes money (LOTS), the olympics are considered a success if the host city comes close to breaking even afterwards
  22. THIS IS NOT A SALARY DUMP, AND NOT A MOVE TO CLEAR UP CAP SPACE The Bills have plenty of cap space, and Evans is making a small amount ($3 mil) this year. This has to do with getting something for an aging player prior to FA, and trying to open up a roster spot for some emerging young players. That is all If its a good, or the right move, Its hard to say.
  23. Clabo re-signing in Atlanta had nothing to do with the money that was offered. HE WANTED TO STAY IN ATLANTA! He just adopted some kids with his wife and is starting his family and didn't want to have to move them, so he allowed Atlanta to try and match Buffalos offer. Atlanta offered him around what he wanted so he stayed. The only way he comes to Buffalo is if Atlanta tells him they can't afford him and he is out of a job. The fact that he gets to stay in the same location AND play for a contender out weighed having to uproot his family accross the country and play for a rebuilding team for more money. It was never an issue about the money. Can we now please stop talking about this guy and saying that the bills could have had him if they would have only offered more?
  24. You guys were checking out the bodies of other men, checking out their @sses? I think its time you guys stepped away from football for a few minutes
  25. Where else do you think the OP got those numbers from?
