  1. Have you seen what other WR's, guys who are rated higher then Evans, have gone for in the last couple years? You don't get much these days in trades in the NFL. Evans is good, but he seems to be a better #2 then a #1, and with the Ravens, he is #2 behind Boldin. He also is more of a deep threat, so when he is used he looks good cause its usually a deep pass that ends up in a TD or a big gain. Thats why he looked so good when he had Losman throwing to him and saw his production drop when Edwards and Fitz were starters. He is below average over the middle though, and that seems like the kind of receivers the Bills want, guys who will go over the middle and make the tougher catches and plays. It wasn't the right fit for him here, and the Bills felt that getting a pick for him and sending him to a contender was better in the long run for them and Evans.
  2. How would it cost them money out of pocket? From what I hear around this board, its impossible to not be making money, because the TV deal is enough to cover the salary cap, and that doesn't include revenue sharing if your not selling out.
  3. Ralph has given the fans a guarantee, he has guaranteed that as long as he is alive, he will be the owner and keep them in Buffalo. After that there is no way to give the fans what they want because he can't control who has the kind of money to invest in the team and that the ones that can will guarantee they stay in Buffalo. Outside of Terry Pegula, who else in WNY has $800 million +/- to invest in buying an NFL team? Golisano? If you thought Ralph was cheap and a penny pincher, you will call his time as owner the good old free spending days, cause while Golisano owned the Sabres, it was all about breaking even. As for Pegula, he bought the Sabres and threw money around because he is a HUGE Sabres fan, haven't heard anything about him being a football fan at all. Jim kelly doesn't have anywhere near the kind of money to buy them, so he better have some GOOD investors with deep pockets. Outside of WNY, the Jacobs family would have to do some selling or re-arranging cause they can't own them if they own the Bruins, and a guy like Warren Buffett isn't going to be interested in a football team at his age
  4. So what if we don't have "our Drew Brees", neither does SD. We have our current place holder QB whos here until they get what they really need which is their Phillip Rivers QB. There is a foundation here for a good team, the problem is that the fans have no more patience which is whats gonna be needed for the next 1-2 seasons. Teams like the Colts, Saints, Chargers, Pittsburgh etc. didn't become the better teams in the league overnight, they went through years of failure, and drafting high to get to where they are. We aren't the only teams struggling to right the ship too. Detroit, Clevland, Cinncinatti, Oakland, kansas City, Houston, San Fransisco etc have all been cellar dwellers drafting at the top of the draft for years trying to rebuild their franchises. Teams like Carolina, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville have been on a roller coaster ride of being good to drafting high the next season.
  5. But we have Freddie Jackson! So I guess you could say we are one up on the 2002 Chargers (Don't say this is wrong though, don't want Fred to feel disrespected and hurt in case he is reading this)
  6. 1. But I thought that no NFL team loses money and that just having a franchise is a money making machine? 2. How do you know this? Where has it been said that Rogers Communications is unhappy with series? Last thing I heard was that they were talking about working on a deal to continue it Toronto will support the NFL and a team, but they won't support someone elses. They also won't support a losing franchise, If they win, the fans will come. The only franchise in Toronto that will fill their home through the good, and bad is the Leafs
  7. I can only assume that the choice was easy because they figure that all those Twighlight fans will flock to the theatres to see anything that emotionless untalented "acctress" is in. Unless ofcourse they have decided that Snow White should be EMO, then I say, good choice on the hire!
  8. I also heard it was canceled because its a western, and after the way "Cowboys vs. Aliens" ended up at the box office, they decided to stay away from the western genre for a little while.
  9. All off season anytime someone brought up drafting or signing a QB it was always about how it was for the backup spot only, cause Fitz "deserved to start" and that you don't want to upset him by bringing in competition. As for Fred, he has been the best player on one of the leagues worst offenses the last 4 years, everyone acts like he is the second coming of OJ (the football player)
  10. its a good move for them, they need a good veteran to fill in until Manning is 100% and Collins can fill that role better then Painter or the unknowns they have now. Their division will be tighter this year with Houston improving and can't risk losing some games early waiting for manning to come back. I'm surprised that there aren't angry posts as to why the Bills didn't go after Collins, polian signed him, so it obviously has to be the right move
  11. They don't have to evaluate him, he is just supposed to show up and be a superstar, but not be better then Fred cause he might get his feelings hurt and lose his "starting job"
  12. The coach is the guy running the show, and if they want to make changes, they can make changes, they don't have to go over and make sure its ok with last years starter so they don't get their feeling hurt. So far it seems to be the fans and media making more out of this then the players. levitre didn't seem all that distraught over it, it was the media and fans declaring he had been demoted to 2nd string. it was also the media saying that Spiller was now the #1 because he was given "the start" in Saturdays pre-season game.
  13. this has all been blown out of proportion by the media (like most things today) it is also Fred planting the seeds for a new/reworked deal, he had said that this whole thing is "a little about the money" He isn't happen with his current deal and the rumors about CJ being given the "starting job", add in probable frustration over the team letting a veteran like Evans leave and at his age, seeing the writing on the wall that the team wants to get much younger, he made some public comments that made him look like he was whining. Of course with Fred being a sacred player around these parts, slightly ahead of Fitz, as guys who should just be handed their jobs for the amazing work they have done for a 4-12 team, no competition should be made for their position because it may make them upset.
  14. Although I agree that adequate/decent RB's seem to be easier to find in todays NFL, and the avg RB seems to now have a shorter lifespan in the league, you can use you arguement about GB with other positions too. Look who played LT for the Steelers last year (and was supposed to be the starter this year) in the Super bowl? (Hint - a former Bills castoff, just like Arizona in the SB)
  15. Lets also trade Dareus already, the guy will obviously be a bust too. We haven't made the playoffs with him here, heck, the Bills haven't even won a game with him in the lineup yet. He has yet to have a Sack or even a tackle in a meaningful NFL game get rid of this obvious bust now.
  16. Sure, the current NFL is a "win now" "What have you done for me lately" league where there are quick turn arounds and short attention spans/patience from fans. But thats not what this front office wants to do. They don't want the "quick fix" which usually only results in a year or 2 of success and the another rebuild/re-tuning of the roster. It also helps being only a year or 2 away from being a decent/good team to get those quick fixes. Teams like the Rams, and Lions, and Bucs went through very long stretches at rock bottom and had to re-build their entire rosters similar to what the Bills are in the process of to get a solid core and become up and coming teams again. its not the way you want to have to go, but right now, in the Bills situation, its probably the best way to go, and it should bring the greater rewards for the fans if/when it works out. But the ey is patience and staying away from the quick fixes. Signing Flozell Adams to be a stop gap for maybe an extra win or 2 isn't going to do anything to help find out if a guy like Wang can play in real game situations, and then after this year we will still be left with the question about if he can play or not, but hey, we won maybe 1-2 more games and are still middle of the pact, non-playoffs.
  17. I would rather Eliminate Belicheck and his "Patsies", but I guess thats not part of the option here
  18. let him join in the TBD Circle Jerk in person instead of just his photo?
  19. And if they signed Clabo, he would have been a castoff from Atlanta. ALL FA's are Castoffs from other teams because the team didn't feel they were worth re-signing at the price the wanted Actually, IIRC Thigpen was tendered an offer by the Dolphins before the lockout, but because of the new rules, he became an UFA when the lockout ended. Smith was still wanted by the Jets, he just took the offer from the Bills cause it was more then what the Jets would have been willing to pay when they were trying to win the Ashomugha (sp?) sweepstakes
  20. you need to throw on your tin foil reporter hat, dig deep, and read between the lines between the lines and its there, clear as mud!
  21. I'm sure they may be able to find someone on the "scrap heap" or cuts that wouldn't cost them anything more then a contract and be as good or need just as much coaching as someone you call McDrainBramage, or someone everyones already labeling a bust here. Didn't everyones new favorite writer mention something the other day about the Eagles having to cut a $2 million dollar CB because they were so deep at that position? That would be an even better move for the giants cause you also get a player with some inside info on your rival
  22. And the Steelers aren't in desperation mode? They are the defending AFC champions who have a former Bills o-line castoff in Jonathan Scott as their starter and need a replacement to fill in for him while he is hurt. The Bills are not a playoff team this year and a couple of washed up depth o-line players aren't going to change that. They may get them a few more wins this year, but still no playoffs. Might as well use this season to see what you have in Wang, Wrotto, and others in real game situations
  23. You are right, we need to trade him fast because we need another trade to whine and cry about here. What makes you think the Bills could get anything for McKelvin? The fans here believe he sucks and want to run him out of town now, but they think we can get an injured 1st rounder for him, or a 4th (what they got for Evans) PLUS a Tackle? everyone does realise that to get anything of value, you have to trade something of value. And just because the Giants seem desperate right now for a CB, it doesn't mean they will just run out and trade something of value for nothing. Fans don't think he is good enough to play for a 4-12 team here in buffalo, yet he is supposed to be good enough to be on a possible SB contender?
  24. Starks and Adams are not good enough for the Steelers, they would rather have a guy described as this "The former third-round draft pick out of Northwestern is not a very intriguing starting option" to replace a former Bill who was not good enough for the fans here in Jonathan Scott
  25. First off, levitre didn't get demoted, or lose his job at LG last week, the coaching staff just wanted to give Reinhart a chance to show what he can do at that position because he was looking really good in camp and in games at LG so they were giving him a chance to show what he can do. As for moving him to C or LT, they are trying to see what he can play in case of injury to other spots on the line, and they are trying to see if levitre/Reinhart is better then Bell/Levitre on the left side. For those saying there isn't much available out there, there are plenty of guys out there that people have heard of before, and because they don't currently play for the Bills they are obviously a hundred times better then what the Bills have, no matter how old, out of shape, or injured they are, and none of them would end up being another Cornell Green, until of course the bills sign the one that was not the popular choice of the fans. Any FA would sign here if we offer them more money, cause money is the only thing that matters. I do agree that the Bills really should stop switching people from their natural positions. Peters should have never been converted from a TE, and George Wilson should be fighting for a WR position again.
