  1. Actually, I think this is the best matchup for Denver, Pittsburgh is really banged up and they aren't a high scoring team. They scored 14 and 13 points against the Browns defence and came close to losing against the Browns last week only winning by 4. They won by the same score (13 - 9) against KC a few weeks ago. Its weird, looking at their games this year, it seems like Pittsburghs highest scoring, and blowout type games came against the better teams in the league, and the games against the worse teams (Browns, KC, Jacksonville, etc.) were all low scoring close games, except for their game against St. Louis 2 weeks ago
  2. Or they talk with him and renegotiate the deal (he seems like the kind of guy that would cut them a deal after missing all of last season while being kept on the active roster and not being put on IR) so its better for the team and they keep him while drafting Luck who will be able to sit behind Manning for a bit to learn from a HOFer before being thrown into the fire
  3. I think the point of the post that you replyed to was that for someone who will be in their first year buying season tickets, you won't be able to get the best seating because they give priority to the current season ticket holders to relocate before new customers
  4. And whos job is it to put that coaching staff in place and to have a backup QB behind Manning? Guess Saint Polians only job is to draft the good players years ago? If Polian was any good at his job right now, they wouldn't be desperate for Luck as their new saviour right now. Think Green Bays GM was hoping Favre could tank a season so they could get the #1 pick to draft their new saviour? How about the Pats? They keep bringing in no name backups and drafted a potential starter in the middle rounds of the draft this year. I bet you could come up with a comparible list of good draft picks for any GM that has been in one place for as long as Polian has been in Indy. But during his tenure in Indy with one of the best QBs to play the game, he has managed to build a team that has won ONE Super Bowl, and appear in one other. The "team" he built went from one of the top to worst just by losing Manning Results with Manning and those picks = Playoffs from 2002 to 2010 Results without Manning but with those picks = Picking #1 overall in the draft Guess the other posters are right, the Colts are more then a one man team, and Saint Polian has done an incredible job making sure they can succeed if he goes down..........
  5. I believe Stevie is still under contract until the Day FA opens in teh NFL in March. If he wasn't under contract, he could sign at any time with any team, or discuss a new deal with teams before that time. The NFL "year" runs from the start of FA in March of one year, til the day before the start of FA the next year, not the last game that you play in that season. I know it happens in the NHL, players sometimes get traded just before the start of FA allowing the new team to have their rights to negotiate a new deal prior to having to complete for them when FA opens. (How Ehrhoff was acquired by the Sabres this offseason) So unless the NFL does not allow this, a deal could still be made to send SJ to another team for compensation, and give the other team his negotiating rights to work out a deal before he even becomes a FA, otherwise it may be possible to do what the NBA does and do a "Sign and trade" where a new contract is worked out and the player is then moved. I guess if the Rams wanted SJ, and wanted to move out of the #2 spot, they may be interested. If not, then I doubt they take a deal like that when they can just draft a much better weapon then SJ at #2 for Bradford an extra early 2nd rounder, plus a veteran WR with NFL experience might be enough for them to move down 8 spots. They can still get a great player at #10, plus they get an extra pick in round 2 and a young, veteran WR weapong for Bradford. Of course the price goes way up if the Colts pass on Luck and hes available at #2...........
  6. Fixed it What more did Polian do for them besides having Manning fall into his lap? During his tenure as the GM in Indy, they have 1 superbowl win, thats the only one Saint Polian has, and that was with one of the best QB's to ever play the game. The Indy gig should have been one of the easiest job to GM for in the NFL, the Pats continued to win the year Brady went down. The Colts were never a team to go out and sign big name Free Agents, they relied on drafting, and their drafts over the last decade have been mediocre AT BEST. The only reason the Colts are considered one of the better teams in the league was Manning, and one season where he can't play they go from playoff lock to 1st overall pick. Without manning, the Colts are a mess. Theres all these posts saying that Irsay isn't meddling, or that he would be better to work for, yet he cleaned house of the Saint polians after 1 horrible season, and rumors that they would want to trade Manning away and draft Luck, but the owner wants to keep Manning. Our GM comes out and says he has talked Ralph out of spending more money for players in FA, and he is still viewed as cheap and that Nix is just covering. And why does everyone think Manning is going anywhere? Is it possible they work something out to restructure his deal, and set things up so that Luck can come in and sit behind Manning for a few seasons before being given the team? it worked fine in GB with Favre and Rogers, and I don't see Mannings having the same kinda ego as Favre ever had that he couldn't deal with having some behind him to teach.
  7. Can't stand Russell Brand, Its too bad in that relationship that he couldn't be the one to step away and have the children. But I guess how will the world ever make it without his wonderful acting skills and comedy? You never know what you are gonna get with his acting, wil he play a recovering addict rock star? or will he play a drugged up Rock Star? maybe his next big role will be a drugged up rock star who goes into re-hab and becomes a rcovering addict rockstar? Such amazing range he has. Atleast his ex was easy on teh eyes to look at
  8. A buddy of mine was talking about this game last night, he was talking about having to do "missions/quests" and from his discription (talking about a mission to kill someones wife because they were both cheating and he came up with a storey to say she was spying for the republic?) I asked if they just replaced the characters from Grand theft auto with Guys with Lightsabers. Thought that could make a good game too crossing over Gradn Theft Auto with Star Wars, stealing the millenium falcon, or some landspeeders, then going off to kill Jar-jar Binks for no good reason (like beating up hookers or pedestrians in GTA)
  9. Exactly, making the playoffs 2-3 times in 5 years in the AFC West is barely a great feat. That division has been known for being one of the weakest division in the NFL for years. They have had very good talent on that team too
  10. Funny how everyone is so quick to write players/teams off when they don't want them to succeed, and hang on to others way too long. (Tebow had been written off immediatly by fans around the league because the media says that "his style can't win in the NFL", Yet someone like Sanchez and Romo people still believe can be players to lead their teams to a Super Bowl). I feel bad for him because he seems like such a good guy, and someone we should all hope would succeed and be a true role model for children watching the sport. Instead everyone seems to want to bring him down and push up guys like Vick Pittsburgh right now is not the powerhouse team everyone thinks, they struggled to beat a bad Browns team and are really banged up. They are a beatable team who better hope that their offence can get them a quick lead, cause the closer the score stays late into the game, the better chance that Denver has with an upset. Denvers last 3 losses included a close loss to a divison team that has improved the last couple weeks with a new coach and QB (who was also looking for revenge after losing his starting job), A blowout against the Bills, and a blow out against the AFC's top seeded team. This is probably the best matchup right now for the Broncos to have. If healthy, the Steelers would be one of the AFC favorites, but in the shape they are in, Denver can pull out a win. Cincy, Baltimore and New England just seem too strong right now, the only other option that the Broncos could have had a chance with is the Texans, because they are also hurting right now and struggled to finish the season (good thing the division was basically given to them once Peyton went down and Chris Johnson struggled to start the season). I would not be shocked if the Broncos pull out a win this week and beat the Steelers, I would be shocked if they made it any further though.....
  11. I mentioned this in a different thread, trying to debunk the myth that Fitz's arm strength is horrible. He has a strong arm. His problems are accuracy and touch. He seems to always throw hard and alot of his passes end up bouncing off guys after hitting their hands, he doesn't seem to have much "touch", being able to throw a pass based on where the WR is. The other issue is accuracy, he overthrows alot, and some of that may be the WR and QB not always being on the same page
  12. Theres only 2 ways he gets the HC job in Buffalo 1. Ralph/Nix fires Chan during the season because the teams poor play, and they promote 'Stache to interim coach for the remainder of the seasons OR 2. Chan retires and 'Stache has the defence looking good they decide to promote from within and give him the HC spot
  13. its impossible that any of the blame for the firing could be placed on Saint Polian. The amn is more then a football GOD and cannot make a bad move. Obviously this is just another stupid NFL owner that knows nothing screwing up his franchise for decades to come. Now lets all stop this talk that Saint Polian had any hand in the Colts going from Playoff lock to #1 overall pick missing 1 player and all say 40 "Hail Polians"
  14. sadly i dont think pittsburgh can, the afc is gonna be between the pats and probably ravens steelers are too banged up (especially big ben) bengals i dont think can stop the pats, and the ravens just beat them broncos only made it cause the teams in the west were fighting not to make the playoffs houstons offence is really not looking good with their 3rd string qb
  15. Fitzs issues have nothing to do with arm strength, its not weak. There are 2 problems with his passes, and its accuracy and touch. He tends to throw short passes with too much "zip" on them like the Spiller int that bounced off his hands. The other problem is accuracy, he overthrows alot of passes
  16. stevie = good player beloved by fans who fight over sniffing his jock he doesnt have to follow rules, only mediocre guys and players not wearing Pats uniforms have to follow rules
  17. I believe rumors were saying later that Edwards was calling plays when in the 3-4, and when they lined up in the 4-3, 'stache was calling them. But I believe the belief/theory around here is that when the defence struggled/played poorly it was Edwards making the call, and when it looked good and worked, that was 'stache/anyone making the calls
  18. Why not, the majority of the board wanted them to take a look a Jared gaither when he was available both time this season Not a big name o-linemen with back issues, "What are they thinking even looking?" Big name o-linemen with cronic back issues, "What are they thinking not bringing him in for a look?"
  19. not quite In this situation, the Bills aren't falling all over themselves trying to re-sign a guy thats already decided he wants to "go home" to play (Drury) while the other guy is jumping up and down yelling at the front office to atleast make an offer before he hits FA because he truly wants to stay here (Briere)
  20. Between Agents fees, bills and expenses for your houses and cars, and every person you know (and don't) coming to you for money/loans and with investment opportunities, its very easy to blow through it when your not used to having that kind of money. Not many athletes come from backgrounds where they already had sizeable bank accounts so onoce they get the money, they want to get everything they always wanted and what they think they need to join the rich group. Also with money comes the leaches, people who think that they should be getting some of your money because they know you and had been friends with you. Atleast when your wealthy, you don't have to worry about the government coming after you to collect taxes
  21. Ruvell Martin? I think he is the most experienced WR of the group, but definitly not the most effective maybe he just isn't as good as most thought he was? I think the hype for him is more about playing at UB, then for his actual playing ability. Bills fans tend to do this, like the crazy man love for Jasper just because he is huge Should have used "Makes him a perfect Fitz......"
  22. Can you provide me your source to show that it includes the signing bonus, or any time an agent/player has included the signing bonus amount into the APY that they want? The signing bonus is paid upfront to the player, not over the length of the contract, so the only time it is ever figured into the contract is when talking about a teams cap hit for the player. I never said the agents don't care about the signing bonus figure, or that they don't want the most upfront money, What I said is that the agent/player don't care during negotiations what the cap hit will be for the player, i.e. what the total contract will look like over the span of the contract per year (the cap hit figure). Since the signing bonus is paid upfront, they don't take that into account as part of the yearly salary (unless maybe they were finance/accounting majors in school and fiscally responsibile, but thats a small fraction of pro sports athletes). Some players may be willing to lower their salary demands per year IF its put into a signing bonus
  23. Its a good thing he used Facebook to do this, If he tweeted it, he would have been run out of town like Donte! The thing about Stevie and dropping passes isn't that he drops balls, all WR's do, its that the ones he drops are always at critical moments that could clinch/win games. Fans vandilised McKelvins property and want to run him out of town for fumbling a kickoff against NE, Stevie drops a ball put right into his hands in teh endzone that would have beat the Steelers last year, then tweets one of the dumbest tweets ever after the game blaming it on god (Whitner just had to tweet that the Bills would make the playoffs one year and everyone called him an idiot) and fans practically line up to console the guy and carry/sniff his jock. He is definitly worth re-signing, I just wouldn't be tripping over myself to re-sign him to whatever he asks. He is a great #2 or #1b WR for an offence, and the best option the Bills have right now for a top WR. This offseason, If I was him, I would be working on my concentration when the games on the line.
  24. His numbers may also be padded due to being on an offence that lines up in shotgun, 5 WR sets all the time.........
  25. My range is a much higher APY because it includes factoring in the signing bonus, the $7.5 mil a season his agent is saying is not including the signing bonus. Stevie and his agent only said "lets wait til the seasons over", not "Lets wait until FA starts and see what other offers are out there". Alot of players say that because they don't want the distraction of negotiating during the season when they are trying to focus on playing and putting up numbers to get a bigger deal. Also, with the numbers he was putting up, waiting til the offseason would also drive up his price. He has never said he wants to test FA before signing a deal, just that he wants to wait til the season is done to get back to negotiating. There is still LOTS of time for both sides to negotiate, and my original point is that lets wait until atleast February before we all start throwing tantrums because they haven't reached an agreement. For all we know, Tuesday morning he could have a brand new deal signed
