Sounded good but haven't watched it -
But draft also doesn't guarantee Pro level success. Golliday has already proven he can play in the league at a high level, the players in the draft have not. As for your list in the other post, only Tre is in line for a Big deal soon, the rest haven't done anything yet to deserve deals that could break the bank, even Josh hasn't hit that level yet.

Yeah, the issue wasn't that they kept changing (although that doesn't help), they just made bad hires. A few of those combos may have lead to a shorter playoff drought if given an extra year or 2, but i think we would be talking 'one and done' situations and they would be looking at someone new soon after. For the Sabres, they have tried the continuity thing and they could never get over the hump. They still held on to some coaches too long and made some questionable hires. But is it really better to waste 5 years to give them ample time to turn things around and have to start over, then cutting bait and starting over sooner because it doesn't appear they are going to get things done? It's not like this team is showing steady improvement and looking better. They are still near the bottom and if they have improved in areas, they have gotten worse in others that they used to be good in. It's similar with Players, Buffalo fans always want to hold onto prospects until they are sure they aren't going to amount to much, then wonder why they don't have Nothing worth trading away. We get the same around here from the US sites where videos won't play in our area. We also don't get all the same content on streaming services like you do.......

True, but that's not really making it better, usually the coach may take a year or 2 off to reevaluate or spend time with family, buy they come back again as a HC or Coordinator atleast, like McCarthy do this offseason. Sounds like Mcadoo wasn't really I'm demand after his HC stint and the time off wasn't his choice......

A few things to go with what's been said - A new stadium won't be built to hold 70k fans in Buffalo. The new stadium will be built smaller and probably hold close to the lower amount of what they other stadiums hold. - tailgating as everyone knows it now in OP will be phased out by the state and the league, the options will be local bars/restaurants before games or a sponsored team tailgate zone. (Indy has a sponsored tailgate area where they have decent prices food and beer in an area outside the stadium). There too many issues/risk of liability for allowing the free for all tailgating in Buffalo, with people drinking and being thrown though tables. - the Pegulas know, and have probably known from the start that if they wanted to be owners in the NFL, they needed to build a new stadium or a massive Reno of the existing. I think ideally they would like to have one downtown next to the arena and build off of what they have already started there. - if Bills fans can't afford higher ticket prices that come with a new stadium, then they can afford the NFL, having a team in your area is a luxury, not a right, and there are other areas the league could go to that may be able to afford the NFL - it doesn't matter what they average fan wants, it a what the league and investors/sponsors want. The NFL isn't a charity, they are a billion dollar business that wants to keep expanding just like any other business. If they can make an extra buck by doing something, they will. If a team refuses to pull their weight and contribute their fair share, they will be forced out for someone/where who can. - the stadium may be the centre piece of redevelopment, but that doesn't mean it's the only attraction. The stadium gets built and the area developed and built up not just for the 8 days a year it's used, those are just the bonus days for revenue for the business owners. The redeveloped area is done so it's an attraction to bring people there year round. It's made into the place where people go on weekends and after work, where people stay when they come to town to visit or on business and have other things to do then sit in their hotel rooms or drink in the hotel bar.

I think that a Good GM has to be able to use understand and use the info provided to them from Scouts, be a real good negotiator, and have the balls to make decisions quickly. Botterill seems like he isn't a great negotiator, and he can't make decisions quickly, he always needs to assess everything thoroughly before he does anything. TMs problem was that he was a poor negotiator who fell in love with certain players and would do anything to get them which led to him giving up way too much to make a deal. Darcy just couldn't/wouldn't make the deal, possibly because of financial restraints.

where is the NFL going with women coaches?
apuszczalowski replied to stuvian's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Would you tell her to get in the kitchen and make you a sandwich? Isn't the old saying 'Those who can Do, those who can't Teach?' Some of the better coaches in sports were guys that weren't very good players. Look at Hockey, the greatest player was a failure as a coach. Looking at some of the newer coaches in the league, some are almost as young as the guys they are coaching. Many of them either didn't play or had very short unsuccessful careers as players. -
What about Vegas? They are building a football stadium in a desert, but I bet that will really give the City a huge boost, maybe bring in some tourists to the area? Politicians are usually the type that want to boast about things they do....... I'm sure the ones that are against it will also be boasting about it when things work out and how they knew it would work, as long as their constituents are happy with it.

Here Are the Cities Homeowners Never Leave
apuszczalowski replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Reading that list, I assumed it was a list of places where people stay on the same house and aren't constantly selling and upgrading, not necessarily that people are moving out of town to a new city. -
Anyone Else Here Ever Ride On the Comet?
apuszczalowski replied to T&C's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We used to do that all the time when my parents took us places, we had a cooler and sandwiches we would drag along in a wagon with us. Marineland in the falls would let you bring your stuff in with you. When we were at Canada's Wonderland last year we could bring a wagon with us but had to leave the cooler in the car, for lunch we went outside and sat on the hills near the entrance in the parking lot and ate, then went back in. Canada's Wonderland wouldn't let us bring in our own lifejackets for the kids for the water park, had to use theirs which took us forever to find any available when we went in there. I was trying to picture the school, I think I remember it now but it was still in use. Guessing it closed when the new school opened. And I am assuming the land will be bought by one of the developer for a subdivision, lol -
Anyone Else Here Ever Ride On the Comet?

One of the reasons I never liked amusement parks or roller coasters was because of the wait. I waited almost 2 hours at Darrien Lake for the superman rise, my buddy said we should have done it first cause there was no one there when we got there when the park opened. We went to Canada's Wonderland a last year and I was fine with taking the kids on the rides in the Peanuts themed area cause there were no waits, seeing the lines for other rides I wouldn't want to waste my time standing around for an hour + for a couple minute ride. -
I think most of the owners are closer to the Jones/Kraft's where they want to make money and would like to reach the same level of building a better facility then Dallas or now LA and Vegas, but they know they can't in their markets. Brown is known to be very cheap and not wanting to shell out money. Ralph I think was more willing to stand up against it because he knew at his age he wasnt going to be around much longer so he could stand up for it. I don't think the Pegulas are the type that are going to stand up against the others and fight, they know what they were getting into when they bought the team and more then likely had it part of their purchase agreement of the team that they had certain obligations to meet to bring things more in balance with the rest of the league.

I just think of it as someone buying a business franchise like say a McDonalds. The Corporation (the NFL) has certain standards they expect from all of the franchisees that they must meet. You can't let your store fall apart and not meet the standards they have just because the area it's in can't afford price increases that may happen. Your forced to upgrade or they take your franchise rights away.

No one said it had to be a Billion dollar palace similar to Dallas, or the new ones in LA or Vegas. They could build a new one similar to Indy's while lowering the seating to the 60k seat range with some more luxury boxes and continue to develop around that downtown area with some more bars and hotels. It's going to cost more then $500 mil but can be done under a billion, it just won't be as fancy as those big 3 places. I recently read an article that focused more about the new baseball stadiums, but they were saying how now it's all about development around the stadium. They want you to come for the game, but stay in the area afterwards. They don't want places where you go to the game and leave right after, they are being built closer to down towns where they can develop bars, restaurants and hotels so you make a day out of it going to the games and then staying around afterwards. The Pegulas have started this with Harbour Centre by the arena where it has hotels and a bar/restaurant. The Pegulas know they have to do something, and most likely were told as part of the league agreeing to their ownership bid that they had to do something about the stadium soon. So I wouldn't expect them to just turn around and say no to the league, they are happy with what they have. It's just a matter of whether is feasible to get to a level the league will be happy with through renovations to the existing like KC, GB, and Chicago did (GB and CHI did it mostly because Lambeau and Soldier field were a bit more iconic as playing fields), or if it makes more sense to build new. One of the 2 are going to happen. Some, like Gates or Buffett may give alot of it away, but they doesn't mean they will do things for free and not make money. They all want to maximise their assetts, bit some may be willing to share more of it with others. The Pegulas may be nice people looking to help, but they aren't a charity and aren't going to not want to maximise the return on their investment by not caring about revenue.

Anyone Else Here Ever Ride On the Comet?

What you do in the privacy of a bedroom with a large iconic Canadian animal is your own business and didn't need to be posted here........ Are you refering to the big dune that was right next to the park along Erie Road? I used to hate having to go to those places cause you had to park then walk up a ton of stairs on the one side to go down a bunch more to get to know of those cottages. Some of the people there have little carts on rails that they can use to move their stuff up and down the hill. I know a former councillor for the town has a food truck/trailer he would go around with and sell the Logan berry, suckers, and sugar waffles from at other events -

I only went there once as a kid, may have been the year before it closed or the last year. I think my parents took us because it was closing. Wasn't old enough to ride much, I do remember going on some cars that you drove that were attached to a rail. And going on the beach and having to cross a line of rocks in the water to get back to sand below Now, most of the land is a private gated community, mostly filled with Americans owning the houses as summer vacation homes. The majority of the houses are 2-3 storey vinyl sided houses with no garages that were selling for around 3/4 million. From Voictoria Day/Memorial Day weekends in May, til Labour day the place is packed with people driving golf carts around, after that its deserted and the only people usually around are contractors doing work on the houses. -
You may not like it or want it, but the way of tailgating in buffalo will eventually be phased out. The NFL and the Pegulas make no money letting you get tanked in the parking lot drinking and eating before the game and the legal issues that may get worse from drunks going through tables or getting hurt/killed from drinking at the game will help make the decision to phase it out. The Pegulas, and the NFL will make more money by developing an area downtown where they can bring in places where the fans can go before and after the games to spend their money (just look across the street from the arena where their development included a hotel and restaurant/bar) Again, the NFL isn't a charity where they will forgo making more money because it would hurt 'hard working paycheck to paycheck people'. College Atmosphere and camraderie mean nothing when it comes to revenue which is the main goal of any business. Depending on what ime you get to the border. If you leave early enough, its usually not too long, maybe 5-10 minutes. Cross at around 11-12 on a Sunday of a 1pm game and your 2-3x's that wait

What's not true? The Bills don't get revenue sharing from the league because they are one of the lowest revenue franchise? That other NFL Owners like Jerry Jones enjoy being charitable sharing more of their revenue with lower revenue teams? If a franchise isn't willing to what's asked to try and increase revenue. The league has determined that New Era doesn't meet their standards and needs to be upgraded to increase revenue.
