Sorry, but this front office/coaching staff doesnt deserve the benefit of the doubt and more time. They made their choices by dealing away players on this roster with talent to collect draft picks. They put themselves in a huge cap crunch this year by taking dead cap hits by dealing away players and bringing guys in only to drop them and accumulate more. They decided to neglect the offence and QB position this offseason and continue to do so. They chose to draft the biggest QB risk in this draft and go with the player who wasnt ready to play for a while because IF he can develop, he could have a higher ceiling then the rest of the QBs drafted. They also decided on taking the QB who needed the most work and polish to be an NFL QB and have him a WR coach as his QB coach, a QB room where the 3 QBs in training camp had I believe under 1 years worth of starts in the NFL combined, and an OC who has not been very successful in his previous NFL stints. They decided to continue the tear down this offseason instead of building on what they had here last year

Have to feel a little bad for the late Aaron Hernandez
apuszczalowski replied to Happy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sorry, dont feel bad at all. It sticks for him what he had to go through as a child, but we all have to make a choice to either sink to that level or use it to build yourself up from. He had the chance because of his abilities to play in the NFL and be set financially for life. He could have used his experiences to help others by using his position in the NFL to make others aware of abuse and that you can over come it. Instead be sunk to the criminal level and decided he would be a scum bag criminal and try to be some tough guy kingpin/drug lord. He didnt need the money, his NFL career gave him the chance to have millions legally. By doing the things he did he wiped out any kind of sympathy that anyone should have for someone who had gone through what he did as a child. -
What's funny about this front office/coaching staff is that they need more time to evaluate Nate and come to the conclusion everyone else (probably even his family too) have come to which is that he is not an NFL QB, but they can determine in just a few weeks that a player they just gave up a pick for (Coleman) is worth taking dead cap space to have off the team in only a couple of weeks during the preseason. The current QB situation is just another in a long line of questionable personel mistakes made by this group. How they did not have a veteran to mentor Allen here from the start, or bring in someone after week 1 to prepare and have ready just in case this happened is a fireable offence in most places.....

Who said its Cocaine? Maybe its sugar? He is making a choice between it and healthy fruits and vegetables? Who ever had to make a choice between fruits and vegetables and cocaine? But that playoff appearance doesnt count cause they, unlike any other team in the history of sports, needed assistance to make it in and when they did, were not true SB contenders which they must be or else it's not worth it cause you dont get a high draft pick....

The only thing you might be able to blame the Pegulas for is selecting the guys running their team and maybe not finding anyone better. They also appear to select them and let them do what they say they need to do, to build their team. They dont seem to like stepping in and saying no, they dont want to wait 3-5 years to see results. Other teams have seen turnarounds much quicker then what Bill's fans keep getting told or believe it should take to turn things around. We are always told or believe everything has to be blown up or completely torn down. They can never find anyone who can build off of what's already here, they always have to change things to suit what they want which most of the time includes a wholesale change of schemes and personel. Fans also want dominance and lasting success, they expect that a rebuild will net them a dynasty if only they blow everything up and start over cause a few years of success wont cut it, even though its much easier to build off of a base that may have been kind of successful for a few years then one that's torn down to nothing. Pro sports are a business, and fans will say they want a total teardown and "tanking", but very few of those people are the ones who truly support the team financially. They arent usually the season ticket holders who attend all the games or buy suites. They maybe attend a game or 2 and watch from their TV, maybe buying a Jersey (usually from somewhere other then the team store or retail market and not from a potential "black market" online). If you continue to regress, even during a rebuild, in most cases you wont make it to see through to the end cause franchises cant afford to dsuck for multiple years just to slowly build and tank for picks. To be successful in a rebuild you have to keep trying to be competitive while you build on what you have. Taking a huge step back like the Bill's did this year from last is not going to go over well because they had success last year and should be building off of it rather then trying to tear it down more.

The issue is how people define "good". There are alot of "good/competent" QBs in the league, but those guys arent "good enough" for most who expect great/elite play from their QB. They expect Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Peyton. Those guys are hard to find/obtain. They usually consider guys that are "good/good enough" not good enough because they want the elite. Eli/Dalton/Flacco/Ryan/Cousins/Smith/Stafford/Newton are all in the Good category that many here have said at some point they wouldn't want because they arent in the elite category. That's leaving out guys from the draft in the last 3-4 years because no one really sure what they have in those guys yet. Usually those guys have people furious the Bill's didnt get them because of a few great games before they come crashing down to earth and maybe end up in the good/ok category.

MNF: SF vs. GB at 8:15 PM ET on ESPN

Sounds about right for a typical NFL referee -
So if you dont have blind faith and support everything they do, you arent a true fan? There are very few here that have actually given up on Allen at this time, but there are many that are getting worried that he isnt gojng to make it as the franchise saviour everyone expected to get this offseason. The problem so far has been that they took a guy who many believed didnt have what was needed to be a starter without a lot of work and needed to sit an learn to have a chance to be successful. He had the ability to be a starter due to some of his skills/attributes, but there was no guarantee it would work out. He is forced into starting almost immediately because of incompetence in the front office, and the results were as advertised, he does not look like a starting QB in the NFL. Sure he could still develop, but the odds are against him and the Bill's dont seem to have thought bringing in people who can maximize his talent and develop him was important. How many QBs have come into the league needing to develop as much as Allen and actually make it? How many succeed just by playing more? The QB position has tons of higher ranked and thought of QBs getting drafted and failing.

Are the Bills covering up for Josh?
apuszczalowski replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except Goff had much better career stats in college then Allen against tougher competition. Allen is looking like the same guy that played at a lower level in college and how must evaluators predicted from him. This idea that because a 1st overall pick in the draft was able to do it, the 3rd picked QB in another draft from a small school should be able to do the same isnt a valid arguement. The Bill's front office made multiple Huge mistakes this offseason. First, if their plan was to draft the one QB in the top tier who was going to need the most polishing and work to reach the potential of his talent, they should have been bringing in the best QB coaches in the league to work with him and an OC that has experience working with developing raw QBs and making them look their best instead of a WRs coach to be his position coach and an OC from college who hasnt had success in his NFL chances so far. Next, they shouldn't have waited for everyone else to fill their QB position this offseason first, then try to get a discount on the remaining guy. They needed a good veteran QB who could help Allen in the QBs room during the week and hold down the offence until they feel Allen could take over. They would never be SB contenders with Keenum, or Smith, or Bridgewater, but at least Allen could sit and watch someone with more then 1 year and one of the worst NFL starts in history. McCaron had only slightly more experience, but at least his time on the field wasnt historically bad and he looked like he had some ability to maybe be a mediocre starter in the league. And the 3rd huge mistake was not doing anything to try and improve the offence this offseason. The best way to help your young developing QB out is to surround him with good weapons that can make plays on bad throws. Watch any other team and you see guys make tremendous catches on difficult throws. The Bill's WRs struggle to make even routine throws. Their biggest move to help him was to bring in Kerley, who they dumped after 1 week so they could make room for a backup rotational DT, and Coleman who they gave a couple weeks in training camp to show his ability and gave up on him before the season even started. Now, they wait til they have played 5 weeks, with Allen being forced into playing 4 1/2 of those games to sign a veteran QB to help mentor Allen. -
Bills Defense is Overrated. They Choked.
apuszczalowski replied to Kevin1778's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the Bill's defence choked because of one drive that was mostly due to a penalty, and then held them at the Goaline to give up only a Field Goal? Granted the Texans have not been a great Redzone offence, but the fact the Bill's came up with a stop there to hold them to a FG so late in the game after spending most of the game on the Field due to the offences ineptitude all day is actually quite impressive. -
Is Nate Peteman the worst QB in NFL history?
apuszczalowski replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The love he gets from this coaching staff and some fans is unbelievable considering he has done nothing to deserve any of it. He was a 5rh rounder for a reason. I dont think his own family has that much faith in him as the coaching staff does -
