  1. Losses may have been expected, but not a historically inept offence that we have been seeing. I dont think there wod be as many calls for Beane and McDermotts head if the team looked somewhat competitive and just needing a couple pieces to hopefully get those wins. Your assuming that they only have up Glen to get the picks to move up for Allen, when for all we know they would have gotten rid of him anyway
  2. I believe a stat I saw earlier said he was the most penalized defender in the league with over 130 yards in penalties, all on 3 defensive pass interference penalties. Not a huge loss
  3. To be fair, the Browns did draft a QB 1st overall in the draft and those guys do tend to get the chance to start very early in their careers and continue to get the chances to start because of where they were taken. It's not like Baker has been head and shoulders better and won the job because he outplayed anyone. He was the 1st pick in the draft, he was going to start
  4. Doesnt that make it worse though, that he has better targets and a working running game, and yet he is still sacked more then others? I would say that his oline might be worse then. But as for Watson, his team beat the Bill's because Nate Pick6man through a timely pick 6 to win it for them. They beat Denver this week because Denvers kicker blew a FG to end the game. And those are just 2 of the wins off the top of my head. KC is winning games because of Mahommes and the offence, the Texans arent winning because of their talented offence or Watsons play
  5. Well McDermott was asked about the QB coach yesterday, and he said that as a WR he knows the passing game well and that helps the QBs basically. In other words, sounds like he thinks he is doing a good job.....
  6. Why would he do that? He's probably making more and working less getting ti sit in the booth and talk for a few hours rather then becoming a positions coach that may have to help a QB room that includes one of the worst statistical QBs in the league.
  7. They may not have won SBs, but they are a playoff team drafting in the later half of the draft. They had also handicapped themselves by not using FA as much and focused on their own players. And that great QB was passed over by almost the entire league before being drafted.
  8. And how did that work out for the Bill's offence? One FG and one TD in garbage time and less then 200 yards given up. Good thing Daboll game planned to counteract that Bears defence........
  9. He isnt being paid as one cause he was a 5th round draft pick last year, he was and is still asked to be a starter when he was expected to be their starter this season, and now that Allen is injured. Take off your Bill's colored glasses and you will see no one (outside of Gruden and the Raiders) would want him if the Bill's put him on Waivers. The rest of the league has been questioning how is is still in the league and even guys out of the league are questioning how he has kept his job and they cant get another shot.
  10. Except ducking really bad guarantees nothing just like being mediocre. How many years of sucking has it taken the Browns to get to 2 wins and a tie? Dont they have none of their 1st rounders anymore from prior to 2015-2016? It doesnt matter where you draft, it's all about having quality scouts and front office who can recognize talent when your pick comes up. If teams knew what they could have had in Ben Rothlessberger, would he have lasted til 10? Would Rodgers have lasted til almost the second round? A team like Green bay hardly drafts in the first half of the draft, and they never dove into FA, they restocked through draft picks.
  11. The Bill's were asking him to do that when they named him the starter this season, co soldering Allen was supposed to sit most, if not all of this year. Compared to the rest of the garbage of an offence that was out there, yeah, he played well, but that's setting the bar real low. Tyrod Taylor was run out of town because he wouldn't throw the ball over 200 yards a game, but that was with maybe a dozen passes. Nate doesnt hit 200 yards completing 30 passes and people are saying how he played well......
  12. Yeah, should have went to Baltimore with Fiasco and miss the playoffs. Gonna suck having to catch passes from Brees and the Saints in the playoffs
  13. And next year it wont matter cause they cant fix the entire offence in one offseason, and Allen missed do much time next year will basically be his rookie year, and he needed so much more time then the others......... etc, etc, etc
  14. Well that coach that got us to the playoffs decided to ditch the QB who took them to the playoffs for the guy who couldnt make it through half a game. And of course theres no such thing as a fluke, I'm sure if they had to the Bengals could replicate that catch again if they needed to.....
  15. They backed into the playoffs on a fluke TD by another team to end a game. They tried their best to miss the playoffs. Theres just as likely a chance that the players overachieved in spite of the coaching staff then the coaching staff going everything right to get them into the playoffs. During the "playoff run" they dumped one of their best run defenders on a defense that wasnt very good against the run, they also switched QBs to Peterman for a critical game during their playoff run. The entire run was dependent on the defence taking the ball away more then what can be expected. It's funny how McDermott will get credit for getting them into the playoffs just cause he was the coach, but many wont give Tyrod credit even though he was the starting QB for them that season.
  16. As being better then Peterman, yeah, many Some might even be better then the rest of the QBs on this roster. People need to start watching other games not just Bill's ones to understand just how bad it is here right now. SF has had 2 nobodies start for them the last few weeks and neither of them had played as bad as Nate Peterman did. The Eagles backup was last years SB MVP, Miami's backup (the guy you show is actually their #3 since the backup is starting now) has won more games this season then Peterman has in his career. With Tampa its debatable who you want to call their backup, but one was a 1st overall pick, the other has thrown more TDs in a game this year then Peterman has total in his career, and may have thrown for more yards in a game then Nates total in his career too. But yeah, Nates just as good as everyone elses backup.....
  17. But what have they showed you so far on their tenure here that they know what they are doing on offence and the only reason they haven't been able to right the ship was money? THEY CREATED THE DEAD CAP SPACE THEMSELVES. They decided that they had to get rid of good players and take the cap hits to get picks, they even dealt picks to obtain players they later dumped before playing in a meaningful game for them to take on dead cap. The have made more bad FA signings then good ones since coming here and haven't been great with trades either. So we should cut them some slack for putting themselves in a dead cap issue and having little talent? I think most people could cut them slack if they had shown that they are as good at evaluating talent as their are with dumping it and collecting picks and cap space.
  18. Enough about Peterman already........ J/k To be fair, there are many laye round linemen that have decent NFL careers, you dont have to get one early in the 1st to have a good one. QB on the other hand, it's less likely to find a good one after day 1 or 2 of the draft......
  19. I'm not disagreeing, but you have to look outside of just the record. Rex took a 9-7 team that was trending upwards under Marrone, and had one of the best defences and made it worse because he had to ditch that defence to install his own, and they became one of the worst defences. His record then trended downward just like in NY. McDermott inherited a team that had given up on the coach and trending down, got rid of some of the better talent, and they improved and squeaked into the playoffs. This year is a complete mess though and is a good reason I would have no problems with the Bill's canning him. With Rex tou had a background of his abilities as a HC, and it seemed to get worse every year (should have never been hired), with McDermott tou didnt have that, he was a highly respected DC that was supposed to be a potential up and coming HC candidate. Some of those guys succeed, others fail and find out they are only successful coordinators (cant fault them for trying). I can fault them for maybe giving such an inexperienced HC too much power and control over the roster and front office. It not fully clear if he chose Beane to work with him cause he knew he would be a pushover and allow him complete control, or if he chose him because they worked together in Carolina and he knew him very well and knew they believed the same things and could build something together.
  20. Some regression or a step back is acceptable and what many had expected to start this year. But this is is much more then that, they took MANY steps back, and have yet to show signs of taking any steps forward on offence. In a rebuild, you better show signs of improvement and getting better or else tour probably not going to see the end of it. The guys in charge put themselves in this position with their moves, and aside from a backup doing better then most fans thought (I remember many not liking them getting Ivory) pretty much every move they have made on the offensive side of the ball has blown up in their face. On the defensive side of the ball, they have had slightly more hits then misses and the defence atleats shows signs that I can be good, but they can be very inconsistent from week to week. Fans have every right to complain about the product on the field. These guys were believed to have had things on the right track last year after a bunch of questionable moves and heading I the right direction. Now they appear to have done a complete 180 and are crashing back down to earth, showing very little signs they know how to fix it all (at least on the offensive side)
  21. If you mean the top announcing crews for the networks, no they probably dont want to come to Buffalo, I'm sure they would rather go to Florida or anywhere south when it becomes November/December. And even before that I'm sure it's not one of their favorite places to be assigned to, Buffalo is not a big travel destination for most people. I dont know anyone who dreams of a vacation in Buffalo. But the negativity and laughter is coming based on the actual play on the field and a front office/coaching staff making questionable decisions, such as keeping Nate Peterman employed in the NFL. That wont stop until they turn a corner and get to a point where they are a threat on the field instead of an easy win for the opponent.
  22. It's pretty hilarious to see fans now with revisionist history on Rex's time here. He is gone because he was a horrible coach who never should have been hired in the first place. He took a good team on the up swing and made them worse. He took a really good defence and wrecked it because it wasnt his defence. The offence improved but wasnt great. He was a blowhard who would talk the talk buy couldnt walk the walk. He had a track record from his time in NY and that was that his teams never really got better, just slowly worse. Doesnt mean the new guys are any better though. McDermott took over a mess here and in 2 years made one side better and the other even worse. The defence is at a point where they can be very good at times, and the offence is a complete clusterf**k. The only reason McDermott and Beane would get more time is because they may have convinced the Pegulas when they interviewed that the team needed a complete rebuild and it would take time to do it and would involve tough times. Being a newer naive owner, they believed them that it's going to be a long, but worth it, rebuild process. But after last season getting into the playoffs despite their best to try not to (starting Peterman, trading away some of their top talent, etc.) They hurt themselves because they continued to make themselves worse instead of building off of what they had last year. In owner of a billion dollar franchise is going to want to know why they couldnt work with what they had and continue to build from there, instead of getting much worse and becoming a national laughingstock with the rest of the league. Making choices like continuing to start Peterman, not addressing the horrible offence, questionable coaching hires (WR to coach the QB needing the most development out of all the others in the draft?) and dumping talent to take on dead cap space may make the ownership think twice about letting them have more time. Usually you want to see teams showing signs of improvement, not taking additional steps back. McDermott may just end up being a very good DC that is in over his head trying to build an entire team, they gambled on one of the "up and coming" coordinators at the time and it may fail. With Rex, there was plenty of tape on his coaching career and not much was good and it's why he is in a booth and not on a sideline.
  23. But that trouble should have been with the legal system and the leagues susbstance abuse program. He should not have been in the league anymore after his 10th chance, instead he gets to go to a team that will eventually get him a SB ring and a special about how he has changed his entire life since coming to NE......
  24. No holding from Gilmore on that one.....
  25. "Eventually McDaniels just figures it out" Yup Chris Collinsworth, once the defence is down to 3rd stringers and the refs have made sure to swing things their way, McDaniels figures out how to beat your defence.......
