You dont say? I forgot that the NFL has a set rule as to how many coaches and what titles you can have for your staff, along with the required hours they all must work. If they want to hire a QB mentor/Guru for Allen they can pay him whatever they want and allow him to come and go as he feels necessary. The Pat's had Bradys personal trainer around the team and facility whenever Brady felt he wanted him there But why waste a roster spot on him as a player? We saw last season how they apparently need all the spots they can get when they cut a veteran WR just to get an opening for another rotational DT to sit on the sidelines.

That's true, but Anderson wasnt any better then most street FAs when be had to come in and play last year before getting hurt. Having a semi competent QB over Peterman to start the season would have changed things. Allen and Barkley is already an upgrade, when you get down to the 3rd guy, your getting into development or street FA guys....

They could make a coaching position just for him and whatever hours he wants to work at whatever they want to pay him

Should it really apply? The last guy was black..... But now the Raiders will be the only ones to get it! By hiring him the rest of the league wont have his great insight.... None of it really matters, Gruden is Coach/GM/President of that team and its him calling the shots, Mayocks position will be to hold the title in meetings and give his opinions and insight and be Grudens lackey........

They can pay him whatever he wants and he can work whatever hours they want him too. They can make up a position on their coaching staff if they want and not use up a roster spot.

I dont understand keeping him around waiting a roster spot and cap space on him. If he is essential as an Allen mentor, make him a QB coach, theres no cap for coaches so the Pegulas can pay him what he is getting now. He was an upgrade over Peterman, but not a great option for anything else....

And he had the Bill's the closest to the playoffs then they had been during the draught too. Buffalo fans never got over not getting to fire him and continue to be jilted ex girlfriends.... So why is no one here constantly pushing or caring for the Vikings coach to be fired?

I dont think he takes any HC job unless the Pat's have changed their mind on him, or BB has told him he wont be retiring anytime soon

But did they fail cause of the change or just because they weren't that good? Losman and EJ were both viewed as reached in the middle of the 1st. Losman was also from a small school and not predicted to be great. Trent wasnt viewed as a franchise either coming into the league. And many viewed the turning point in his career when he had his bell rung

So both sides slipped about 7 spots back?

Well the Pat's winning would just be another in a long line of them, but theres also a slim chance he and BB then decide with gronk to retire on top. Sammy winning the MVP is less likely to happen and also doesnt mean much of anything except that he had one great game. It's not like he was much of a factor in them getting to the SB, unless you believe in his Decoy abilities and that teams let the rest of the team walk all over them so they could protect themselves from Sammy having some catches..... Now had you used Benjamin instead of Sammy, you might have a different response......

Well when you are operating one of 32 billion dollar businesses, you can worry about being classy about how you operate. I'm sure BB and the Pat's worry about being classy in everything they do.

This isnt some 'out of the blue' move though that would be looked at as being in the heat of the moment, it's been expected for most of the season. It's not like this is the Vikings firing their HC cause they lost today, or Tomlin getting canned cause they didnt make the playoffs. Might also be different if this was a long tenured coach with a long history with that team, he was there for 3 years and didnt accomplish much. Class means nothing in this league, you think BB and the Pat's worry about how classy their moves would be to others?

No one cares about class, it's a business. Do you think potential coaching candidates are going to turn down an offer to interview or coach because they didnt wait til Monday to officially fire the coach? Chances are this decision was made already before this game and that's why it was done so quickly. It's not like this wasnt expected to happen......

But all the experts here say its Cousins, he is the problem.........

Nothing gained by waiting either. .. Hope he comes back sometime either for or against them, then they can all 'welcome back Koetter"....
