We lost this game for 1 reason.....
Pass the Pipe replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We lost because they have Vince Young and we don't. -
A telling quote by Steve Tasker

This is exactly my point. Plain and simple, Vince Young won that game today and he has been under Fisher's watch for less than one year. The guy is an extraordinary talent that you get bet your bottom dollar will contend for a Super Bowl some day and the other guy that scares the hell out of you is Pacman Jones. I am not arguing that the Bills are building a solid core of players, but we need that home run hitter than can carry the team when the chips are on the tale. Lee Evans is the closes guy we have in that category. The defense is void of such a player; Schobel really knocked them dead after getting voted into his first ProBowl? -
He made a comment that made a lot of sense to me regarding the Bill's current roster; something along the lines of: "The Bill's have players that need to execute the Xs and Os to perfection in order to win while the Titans can still win if the Xs and Os go out the window!"Levy has done a good job so far, but to get this team into contention he and the rest of the organization need to find some serious playmakers this offseason.

I watched the televison broadcast on CBS (NFL ticket) and between every play and after big plays, either way, the camera would immediately race over to the guy as if we were looking at god. I don't understand? The next time the President asks him to dinner, he should go and leave the game planning to Mulurkey or the fans on the Dolphin websites.
-
Pundits, Why does this guy get so much press? He won a national title one year by avoiding USC thanks to the BCS and he has done nothing special since joining the NFL, yet the cameras and NFL media can't stop focusing on this guy.

Your comments on Nick Mangold are a little light; the guy is nails.

Moving where to his bank to deposit his game check? The guy should have been cut before his cart made it back to the tunnel last season when the tendon snapped! -
Spikes Is Done?

I called this back in August; stick the fork in him! -
Does anybody think Willis would have had a better game than the A-Train did today? I don't and the A-Train can even pick-up a blitz or two as well. Add another wasted pick to Mr. Donahoe's already long list.

How about our receivers and tight-ends? Collectively this is the worst group of offensive players in the league. After Lee Evans, none of these guys are worth a lick.

Why do people still support Jp?
Pass the Pipe replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why don't you line-up with that offensive line, group of tight-ends, and set of wide receivers (not including Evans) and see what would happen to you. We have the absolute worst offensive line, tight-ends, and receivers in the leagure bar none! Our number 2 receiver, P. Price, was blown out of Atlanta and cut in Dallas after a couple of games. You couldn't possibly put a quarterback in worse situation. -
I can't believe you haven't learned that there isn't much football knowledge on this website; the most popular posters are cheerleaders and fundamentalist and not football pundits.

As I read the articles this morning that clearly paint the pictures of the Bill's latest stumble, a common denominator is the roster's void of talent. Roy Williams is a picture of talent and what a top first round draft pick should look like and we don't see many of those pictures in our program (granted, their GM has his own problems, but at least they have one pro bowler to our none); I believe the term is "playmakers." Thus I ask, a man that was around for a lot of these drafts and is the quote unquote the architect of this roster is Mr. Modrak, who was probably fishing or playing golf in Jacksonville while Levy was plowing his driveway to make it to the office ( something is wrong with that picture), and how much longer is he going to get a free pass? I also haven't seen much from McNally either, and I wonder if Anthony Munuoz is in Canton because of his god given ability or McNally's superior coaching, I am leaning toward option A myself? Outside of Whitner and Ellison, I have not been impressed with the rest of the draft class and the free agent acquisitions have been marginal at best and that is only because I am benchmarking them against prior free agent signings like Bennie Anderson. Let's be honest, after Spikes the best FA signing we have had in five or six years is the field goal kicker, arguably the best player on this year's team.

5 points from the positive side
Pass the Pipe replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lee Evans is certainly a number one in this league -
After spending the day in the Caesar's sports book enjoying comprehensive NFL coverage, a couple of things jumped out to me, the Bears are very good and the Bills aren’t that bad they just share the label of mediocre with about 75% of the league. The Bears and Bills basically play the same schemes; it is just a plain fact the Bear’s have way superior talent executing the plan. Levy has a tremendous amount of work left to get this team back to the playoffs, but like I said, about 75% of the GM’s have the same task. Indy has absolutely no defense, Miami is a joke, NE is nothing special, Dallas would kill to have JP, by the way, McNabb is without question the best QB in this league bar none, and Pittsburgh has come back to earth etc. The formula for winning and building dynasties still hasn’t changed and that is 1.) Have a great defense and 2.) Have a strong physical offensive line (a great QB helps a lot, but that position is currently dominated by very average talent throughout the league; supposedly good ones like Hasselback, Grossman, Peyton, Big Ben, etc couldn’t collectively clean the jocks of guys like Marino, Elway and Kelly). What Levy needs to do: Like he rebuilt the secondary, he is going to have to overhaul the defensive tackle positions. Tripplet is noting more than a cheap band-aid fix, and the other “platoon,” if one wants to call it that, would make Hogan’s Heros proud, there is not one quality football player amongst the names of Anderson, McCargo, and Williams (this isn’t preseason). Yeah, Yeah, speed this and that, speed and size is what really kills and these guy’s are completely missing the size requirement. As I have prophesized before on this site, forget about TKO, he will never return to pre-injury form. Here again size is killing us. Levy needs to find a player similar to TKO that can hit and bring some heat off the edge on blitzes. The offensive of line is still a complete joke and the Bills Twin Fair approach to this crucial area needs to be scraped. Take Clemen’s salary and go buy an All-Pro that can protect Losmen’s back side and be dependable enough to achieve a 50% success rate on 3rd and short yardage. Think of how many 3rd and shorts the Bill’s haven’t converted this year; I bet we would easily be 3-2 or even 4-1 with a higher success ratio in this area. Find a freakin tight-end; I heard the UB Bulls have a better one than the Bills? We have gotten nothing out of this position since what’s his named bolted to Pittsburgh 20 years ago or so it seems. Find a wide receiver that is above 6 feet and over 200 lbs. Don’t blame JP with guys like Price, Reed, and Parrish a horrendous assortment of talent at the crucial 2-spot. On a positive note, I would like to thank SoCal Bill, Red Dragon, and Henry Fumbles for an excellent state of the Bill’s Summit held at Treasures, a place truly deserving of the name. The sweat smell of strippers perfume easied the mental punishment of that game, and also the fact that I betted with my brains and not my heart, which really helped me recover all the money I left in that legendary establishment!

Good point! The guy might be the next Mike Martz for all we know.

How bout Willis' blocking yesterday.
Pass the Pipe replied to BUFFALOTONE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This kid can do whatever he puts his mind to. His only problem is lack of focus. Pound for pound he is the toughest back in the league and Levy really needs to start thinking about locking him down long term. He will never be a home run back, because he doesn't have that speed anymore, but he is perfectly suited for a power running game that is needed in the NorthEast. This guy can easily win multiple rushing titles with one or two upgrades to the o-line. To see what a supporting cast means to a back just see the Edge in Phoenix. With a upgraded o-line and more attention paid to Losmen and Evens, Willis could put up monster numbers. Actually, I thought he was getting stronger in the 4th quarter yesterday, the guy is not fun to tackle and that was showing yesterday. There was series in the 4th quarter yesterday when the Bills made a first down and came back with 3 straight throws, which made no sense to me. I felt 3 more carries by Willis would have prevented what we had to watch in the last minute and half. -
Anybody that puts any stock in Mike Mulurkey, which includes Nick Saben, the national media etc. really doesn't understand football. The guy is a joke, plain and simple! I could not believe he called that play when I saw the highlights.

Villarial went down today.........
Pass the Pipe replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree completely. I have been hearing pleas to let this guy play, he gets his chance and K. Williams blows by him like a toll booth. We can begin to talk playoffs once Levy fixes this problem. I new right guard and left tackle is exactly what this team needs. -

With games in September done...
Pass the Pipe replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fumbles, I appreciate acknowledging my facts regarding TKO. I totally agree with the rest of the post, nice work. I would add to your list that we need a big time play maker at either wide receiver and/or tight end. Our size bothers me at these positions. After watching the highlights of both the Cincy and Denver games, I don't see us having receivers that can out muscle cornerbacks and win 50-50 type balls that are big part of game today. Moulds use to bring that option to the table, we don't have that weapon on the roster today. Like I said earlier, Price has to have the best agent in the league, the guy belongs in Canada, not the NFL. -
Shawne Merriman- Chargers
Pass the Pipe replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you're right on the money with this guy! he is easily the best defensive player in the league and Michael Strahan's (sp?) single season sack record is in big trouble. -
I agree Spikes is a good player, but we haven't won much with him and the liklihood of a full recovery from his injury is not likely. This team needs to go in another direction and putting TV on the IR is a step in that direction, thus I didn't agree with Spike's comments about experience etc.

Let's be honest, the guy takes a long time to recognize plays, he takes horrible angles, and he has below average speed. I agree he is a decent special teamer, but play recognition is not a requirement for that job and it's imperative for good safety play. Watch, I believe it is the 2nd Miami game from last year when he gets put in because Milloy was nicked and one play action fake later the tightend is dancing with the ball in the endzone as Wire was looking for the ball carrier in the pile on the goal line.
