  1. the article on PFT did not make much sense 6 25 yard sprints= 150 YDS... then a 5 minute break, then do it again... no mention of time limit to complete the sprints Bottom line: if you cannot run 300 yds, then rest for 5 minutes, then do it again, you are not a conditioned athlete. Most regular weekend warrior types could do that for crying out loud. 300 yds is a bunch, but it is not really that far when it comes to running.
  2. a related question: if a band plays at a place like Darien Lake or SPAC do they get a lump sum from the venue to come there? Or is it a % of the total gross ticket sales or something else entirely? I always wondered how that worked... According to some figures on the tour Rush grossed over 450K in ticket sales from their one show in Saratoga... I wonder what % of that the band members actually get.... I'm sure there are a ton of people (plus the venue itself) who get a cut somewhere along the line.... Even if the band itself only sees 10% of that gross revenue, that is still 45K, or 15K per person for one night of work. It was awesome work!, but still, it goes to show how much of a divide there is between the big bands and the ones just starting out.....
  3. Just saw Rush at SPAC in Saratoga last weekend.... Plain and simple: 3 hour show, no opening band, purely AWESOME concert! Great mix of new and old stuff (their stuff from Snakes and Arrows is pretty good, as are their brand new songs they played).... Plus, it is RUSH.... Geddy, Alex, Neil. Same guys for the past 30+ years. THAT adds to the experience for me, having seen plenty of classic bands with fill-ins and not the entire lineup.... The place was packed... even the lawn was packed! I will absolutely see them next summer when they tour to promote their new album due out in the spring.... But to bring it back to the point of the thread, I was thinking they must make some serious $$ from a tour.... Each of the 3 band members must make 3 or 4 grand a night in take home pay you would think....
  4. Because in today's NFL, the average fan no longer matters. It is all about corporate $$ and high rollers. The dad who works in a Ford plant stamping cars and takes his two sons to the game on sunday is no longer what the NFL is about. Now it's about JERRUHLAND and $100 cheese pizzas. Buffalo has no future in a league like that (nor do probably 15 other current NFL cities) Simple as that.
  5. now I like Gailey so far, so take it easy.... But didn't he sound like Coach Forrest Gump when he said that?
  6. This is interesting to me on many levels. 1st, I have a lot to say about teaching in HS and college (from experience) but that's another thread. 2nd, I just saw Rush and I was wondering how much the band makes on a normal night on tour. Obviously its more than $300. But I wonder how much each of the 3 get for playing a show. 10K? 20K?
  7. I will never be happier to see a player released than the day this Trent Edwards nightmare is just FINALLY over I REALLY thought that after last season this kid was done here... the team CLEARLY gave up on HIM and he was shot with no confidence The good news is that Jauron's QB will be done for good after this season. I actually HOPE he starts just to get it out of the way early so we can move on ASAP.
  8. born on Mars.... lived the first 10 years of my life there (about 20 years in Earth time).... I passed the time working as a sand shoveler in the pits of Cydonia but always dreamed of trolling message boards in a small to mid-sized metropolitan urban area on our blue neighbor.. One day when I had the Martian equivalent of 1000 of your US dollars saved, I took the "KramJet" (aptly named BTW) to Earth in search of a new home (I am proud to say that spelling stuff with a "K" to look KEWL was a Martian invention!) I settled on Buffalo because it reminded me a lot of Mars: ruins of a once great civilization, and beautiful sunsets. So I settled down here, and now I troll message boards full time. In my spare time I enjoy sharing Martian literature and culture with the people of WNY and trying to dispell the common mis- perceptions of "little green men...." Shine on you crazy diamonds......
  9. Ralph is a great human being and a good owner!
  10. Be honest with yourselves. If Buffalo had an NBA team, and Lebron grew up in Amherst or something and was drafted the Buffalo NBA team, became the biggest name in the NBA (maybe even sports) then left for somewhere "sexier" like New York or Miami, you would ALL be screaming bloody murder. NO Buffalo sports fan would be "cool with it" just because they want to see their local boy make good in a "real city." PLEASE. It's easy for me: the tough (but correct) decision for him is to stay in Cleveland and bring a title to a rabid sports town that is just as starved for a title as Buffalo. The easy decision is to leave Cleveland for a "sexy" city (as if that somehow matters to basketball). If he leaves Cleveland, he becomes my most hated sports figure in any league.
  11. But that was brackets and it was mostly done on their website.... I mean, if they HAVE to do drafts so Schopp can "collect" things, why not do a DRAFT with all-time Buffalo sports figures, or even Sabres once then Bills once (get a couple drafts out of the idea)?
  12. Notice in all the stupid drafts they never did a BUFFALO SPORTS FIGURE draft? I mean, at least talk all-time Buffalo SPORTS players! Open it up to NFL,NHL, NBA (Braves), even minor league BB.... I would rather hear then talk about where Ryan Miller and Chris Drury rate on their all-time draft boards vs Thurman, Bruce, etc. than which actor is funnier or which country is better... Good lord! They call themselves a SPORTS STATION? You want drafts? Do an ALL-TIME Buffalo Bills draft. Or Sabres. Or Buffalo sports in general. or even an all-time NFL draft. Or a CURRENT NFL player draft. Do their fantasy team draft on the air LIVE. TALK ABOUT SPORTS and the concept of their little drafts actually becomes fun and worth listening to. It's like these guys on WGR are boasting about being bored with sports. Then QUIT and I'll do your job.
  13. good lord.... open your windows and take a nice walk in the sun, have a cold one, and enjoy a Sabres victory! You'll feel better, trust me!
  14. be loyal to the guys who wear the uniform... it's how a lot of these guys are Look no further than Marv who suggested the team "block more kicks" last season rather than fire Jauron.
  15. Gailey's right.... we have a solid middle OL with Levitre at LG, Wood at C, and Boo Radley at RG We just need a couple of tackles and a guy who can sling it at QB
  16. Enjoy having Mr. Wilson as owner because believe me we are going to miss him.. hopefully he will be around for quite a while longer I have also heard rumors of his health being very poor for the last couple years.. Part of that is his age, I think... Not very many 91-92 year old people are in excellent health. Here's hoping he can lift the Lombardi next Feb
  17. Reading this makes me laugh. Complete LOSER mentality in this thread. A HALL OF FAME GM makes a couple of mistakes and all of a sudden the low budget circus of nobodies who have run the Bills are somehow not as bad as everyone thinks because "the draft is a crapshoot." Give me a freaking break already. This reminds me of the guy who fails at life but his consolation is that success is all about LUCK, and he's just not LUCKY like the ones who are successful. That way, it isn't his fault. The thing is, certain people seem to be "lucky" wherever they go (Polian) and others can't seem to ever get it right, or of they do they screw it up (Bills). But yeah, the draft is just a total crapshoot. All luck!
  18. yeah... disturbing... how DARE the man have fun?! BTW he looks to be down to 200lb or so in that video... (for the Maybin threads)
  19. the thing about football is that people over think it and act like it takes some sort of genius to figure it out. It's truly simple: good QB=playoffs Period. No "yeah buts...." Without a QB you have NO CHANCE which is why the Bills have stunk since Bledsoe had 1 good year. Fitzpatrick, Edwards and Brohm is EASILY the worst QB trio in the NFL. Try to name one worse.
  20. Bob Dylan! He is known for being freaking AMAZING live! Seriously though.... the ultimate SB halftime show would be STYX! Saw them last summer and they were freaking AWESOME! They sound just as good as ever and they have a ton of energy!
  21. the day Trent is released or the Bills trade for a QB (who will start, not back up a fraidy cat sissy) is going to be an AMAZING FREAKING DAY! I would rather he just be released outright. Best for Trent. I'm just looking out for his career. Plus the thought of watching Trent play QB for the Bills already makes me want to scream. Jauron is gone, now we need to cut his QB and be done with the milktoast era of Bills football.
  22. Knowing that situations like this just TWEAK Patriot fans to no end makes me smile. Has there ever been a more whiny bunch of fans of a winning team? I mean for christ's sake, what will it take to make them happy? They had a PATRIOTS TAB on ESPN a couple years ago. NHL, NFL, MLB, PATRIOTS Yet the Pats fans claim they "don't get no respect" and the media hates them and belittles their accomplishments. It's just old and obnoxious, but then I remember that it shows that they might be almost as miserable as Bills fans, even though they won 3 rings in the past decade. Thus, they will NEVER be happy, which makes me happy as an avid Pats hater. I thought what Manning did was classy as hell. He was trying to avoid a potential injury to Brees when the media swarmed. I'll bet that selfish punk Brady would have never thought of that. LOL
  23. Trent Edwards SUCKS, PERIOD. I never want to see him start another game for the Bills. Send him to a dome team to ride the bench.
  24. I will never support the Bills if they leave WNY, and that includes Toronto. The difference is this B.S about "still being in the same region" and "it's still our team" if they go to Toronto. I don't want ANY out for ESPN and co. to spin it positive because that would make it even worse. I can almost hear the morons on ESPN going "well ya know it's just an hour away.... The Patriots play an hour from Boston..... so it's no big deal, really..." I don't even want to hear that because I'm tasting puke just thinking about it. Hopefully IF the Bills ever left they would be forced to change their name. I don't even want to hear ANY positive PR spin. The SOB who tears this team from WNY where it belongs deserves a vilification that would make Modell look like a hero in comparison.
  25. good.... let the Rams move to Toronto... that mean the Bills won't be going there I would rather the Bills go to LA and change their name then try to tell us "it's still out team" when they become the Toronto Bills or something similarly stupid I still think the Bills are staying put right here, but I would like to see the Toronto threat go bye bye. Sort of like the pushy single guy who really wants your wife. Once he gets married and his attentions go elsewhere, you can rest easier.
