Shady Wants to Keep His "Lil Coins" in 2018
BadLandsMeanie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are a well informed poster so I am not being critical. But in this case I think you overlooked Tolbert. There was practically no drop off from Shady to Tolbert. I think Tolbert being so electrifying probably contributed to Sportrack deciding to make their post of wisdom that they made. -
The MMQB: Dareus Says Marrone is a Changed Man
BadLandsMeanie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I personally don't know first hand how Doug Marrone was with the One Bills staffers. But I do recall reports that he was controlling and tried to change things and meddle with areas of the team operation that were staffed by experienced entrenched long term employees and that they didn't like it one bit. Next the staff had to tolerate Rex Ryan who I guess they saw as acting foolish not being very smart or hard working. So it seems plain they didn't like Rex Ryan any better. I think Coach McDermott has not had the problem at all. I haven't heard a single word if it. So he is doing good on that count. But that could be because he fired most of them as quickly as he could. -
Kiper Mock Draft: Josh Allen #1
BadLandsMeanie replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember his Clausen call. I shall be at peace Brother Hapless. But I will blame you for my pain of being unprepared mentally, if they do anything like what he is suggesting. Agreed about what needs to be fixed. For me though I have had more than 20 years of the "clever" way the Bills have had of minimizing the importance of the QB spot. I think if they have to draft the 5th best QB 5 times before they hit on one, then that is what they need to do. This year could be the first time and I would be fine with that. They just have to try, to make me happy. And they have to keep trying until they are sure they have a decent QB, because of how he IS playing in games. Instead of the brass INSISTING they KNOW and they were RIGHT about who they picked, even though the pick isn't doing well, because of their special powers which are above those of everyone else, to know how a QB will turn out as a pro. -
Kiper Mock Draft: Josh Allen #1

Thats true. Then we could keep losing like always, but lose with a respectable D-Line. -
NFL.com: Gregg Rosenthal's QB Index

I'll try it this way then 21.7 is average. The Bills allowed 22.4. So they are within .7 of a point of smack dab average of points allowed. The Bills offensive scoring ranks 22nd in the league at 18.9 points a game. Which maybe doesn't help me a whole lot until you look at the rushing which was 6th overall in yardage. And passing we were 31st. So Tyrod lead a run first team to the 31st best total passing yards. Which somehow makes him a solid QB. But maybe stats aren't my bag. Let me ask you this. When we got behind in a game and you knew we had to come out with a passing attack to catch up and win on time, didn't you know we were going to lose? Didn't you know it was over? -
NFL.com: Gregg Rosenthal's QB Index

Well, I think the Bills are about the middle on points, maybe JUST under the halfway mark. But look at the games we got just HAMMERED by the Chargers (54) and Saints (47) which doesn't do the average any good. Then the Pats got 37 and for some reason the Jets got us for 34. So those 4 games we were finished because we couldn't score that many points. But the rest of the games the points against were manageable and we did pretty good, winning 9 of 12. Put another way, if I have it right, the average points scored by teams per game in 2017 is 21.7 If opposing teams scored the average 21.7 points in each game, the Bills would have won 5 games this year, instead of 9. -

I think Tyrod's ranking benefits from being on a run first team featuring Shady, and having a defense that didn't allow many points most of the time, and got a bunch of turnovers. Put another way, he didn't have to pass that much and he didn't have to score that much. That helped a lot. -
Well I can see how this thread is going! But I will chime in anyway. I too think McDermott did most of the heavy lifting with the roster changes. Doug Whaley was more of a figurehead for the trades and the draft, McDermott was making the decisions. And Beane wasn't here. Obviously Beane can't be blamed for not being hired. But he actually hasn't contributed a bunch yet. Also, Beane recently made an awkward statement in my opinion. He said recently "we know we have to get younger in a lot of positions" in an interview. Of course many will say that is fine. But he should have said get better at positions, not younger. Our oldest players include LeSean McCoy (30), Richie Incognito (35), center Eric Wood (32), Jerry Hughes (30) and kicker Stephen Hauschka (33). I think his words do not sound very good to those guys. McDermott is smoother and wouldn't have put things that way.

Thank you. I just read the wiki on him. It isn't as straightforward as that, but I do see what you mean. Actually that whole wiki article and the detail about the variety of permutations and meanings given to that not so well drawn frog, are unsettling to me. People are much weirder than I think they are I guess.

Marrone, Dareus, and the Jags: don't call it luck
BadLandsMeanie replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am glad we played them tough. But I am not sure our defense was that great against them because the Jags did not have to take any chances. They only had to beat 3 points. So why take a bunch of chances flinging it all over the field? -
I've lost all of my Saint Doug hate...
BadLandsMeanie replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do . Tyrod can't throw. Tyord would have played it safe and protected his stats. The ONE thing you should have learned watching these playoff games is that Tyrod would never have kept our team in it. -
Pats DC Matt Patricia to Lions, per Albert Breer
BadLandsMeanie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't think they could hire somebody until their season is over. They didn't technically but this amounts to the same thing. -
Why do they "have to" have the extra point? It makes no sense.

channel 2- Buffalo comments re alleged Incognito...
BadLandsMeanie replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I picture Jerry Sullivan as : Divorced. Alcoholic. He sinks very low in his insults and remarks that the Buffalo News has published regularly to their great shame. He shouldn't be moralizing on how people should behave. Somebody not making a public response to remarks such as were made here is actually way more common that someone stepping to the microphone to deny it. In fact it is standard operating procedure. But to that gang of idiots it is "deafening". There were cameras and microphones everywhere and if something was aid it is near certain it is on tape. How about we just wait until the findings are in and not say instead that Richie did something 4 years ago so that means he is guilty now of this. My God I just hate how stupid TBN is and also some of their audience.
