  1. I think Mason Rudolf should have painted his nose red at the combine. He would have attracted much more attention. His stock would rise due to the warm feelings of hope from pairing him with the beloved Christmas classic.
  2. I'm out of step with the world at large on some things. So maybe this is only funny to me. But yes I thought it deserved it's own thread. It is right at the start.
  3. I think a lot boils down then to how closely your evaluation compares with how McBean sees it. Two questions for you. One is McBeane has said he is just about out of free agent money. I am wondering if he trades away a bunch of picks to grab a QB, what is he going to do about restocking the roster? There must be some way to do it but I am thinking it would be ugly. They just shipped a whole bunch of decent players out of here. They will have to give away the top of two drafts, give or take, to get where they need to be. How would you pull that off and not get fired? Question 2 is: Do you agree with me at all when I say; The problem the Bills have had is that they did not take quarterbacks when they had the opportunity. I mean when they could have just picked one. Garopolo was there for example and they instead took a lineman with bad knee who went to the practice squad. They did not take Wilson. They did not take Prescott. These people were just sitting there for a low cost risk to see how they might turn out. The Bills wouldn't do it. Neither did they trade up a few spots to grab somebody. They just sat there. So I think maybe the way out of what they have done is to trade away a whole big bunch of draft picks. It could work. But do you agree the the problem we have now is rooted in them failing to take what was in front of their faces for a reasonable cost year after year?
  4. I know they do to some degree because I read that Johnson mandated that the Jets have scouts at all the top QB prospects games this past year. So they were intent on getting as much information as they possibly could on this upcoming class. The article remarks that it was an amazing devotion of resources to have a scout attend each game. Flying people around and all that. My surprise was that he had to tell them to do that. I hope the Bills did that. But I got the idea that this was considered extraordinary. What are we talking about though? 50 or 60 games and air fare and hotels and the ticket and you have to pay the scout. Even at 4 thousand dollars a game that is only about 200-250k which is a lot but it is also nothing compared to being right when you pick your qb.
  5. I think maybe they have to say that because they don't know who they are going to get. They can only get whoever is still there after 1 and 2 pick. You have to figure they have 3 players rated highly enough that they will be happy with any of them. Hopefully for the Jets that have that and are not gambling.
  6. I didn't know that. But do people welch on those deals very often?
  7. It would be wonderful if the Browns took Allen. If the Giants take Darnold how long will they sit him? Didn't everybody get fired after they benched Eli this year?
  8. Neither have your posts.
  9. It is an extremely difficult problem. I think that is why Belichick turned to Satan. Damned if he did or damned if he didn't might as well cut a deal.
  10. I looked up Darnold on my own. Snap evaluation is: I didn't see him take a single snap from under center. Eeeeek. Besides that, he is a big man that moves like a smaller man. Evasive and speedy. Great arm. I think the Bills will move to 2 whatever it takes and get him if the Browns don't take him at 1. Again that is just my quick impression though not preaching it as Gospel.
  11. Cool post 29. I don't watch enough college football. The only one I can make sense of is Rosen. Everybody else looks terrible to me because the style of offense they are playing is so different. What I mean is there is no normal drop back and I can't make sense of the footwork or if there is any, and they don't really read progressions in the same way and so on. It is too unfamiliar to me. So I will just go by what everybody else says! Will you be adding Darnold in here?
  12. I don't think it will be Rosen. He isn't the right background. The Beanes are a very traditional family. Down south where Brandon is from, the mountains and hills are full of Beanes. And one thing everybody knows about the Beanes is they will not enter into a trust agreement of great importance, such as staking your career on a young quarterback, with anyone outside the family. So whoever Bradon Beane picks for QB will have to also agree to be betrothed to a Beane Bride. I can't see Rosen going for that.
  13. And the coach got fired. I only saw that when I looked it up myself nobody seems to care that much about it though. I would bet even money that the NFL exec who said the negative things, is from a team that wants Rosen. I myself am not sure about him. I liked him a few days ago but the more I watch of his interviews I am not so sure. He seems like he might be more than the usual amount of full of himself. But I will love him if he is throwing touchdowns for us.
  14. That is what I am hoping. But I am , well, whacked out lately. And obsessed. The Bills offs season has always been an empty void pretty much. A winter desert. This year it's eventful and stressy.
  15. OK but if I get in trouble for advertising another site, or if the author hunts me down and berates me, that is on you and I hope you can live with yourself. Somebody called TJO posted it here https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/3/15/17128138/past-5-years-of-qb-draft-grade-analytics That chart is his or hers and they did a great job with it because at least for me this info wasn't quick to find on NFL.com. The interpretation was mine.
  16. I disagree. That in itself is not what didn't work. What didn't work is seeing that JP was a miss, and refusing to admit it. They pretended. They did not react. And then missed opportunities. We saw that Trent was damaged somehow. He wouldn't throw long. He took the checkdown. There were songs about it. They refused to do anything. We saw that EJ looked lost his first year. They refused to admit it. Instead they used 2 firsts to get Sammy Watkins. We saw that Tyrod had issues. They said he was essentially, a rookie. They refused to do anything. For years. So in this last instance Watson goes to the cowboys and Mahomes to the Cheifs. Them living in a dream world is what got us here. So if we have to trade a gazillion picks to get a QB oh well. We have to do what we have to do. But it isn't because it is the only way. The better way is to stay rooted in reality and react to what you see. So for me if they give McCarron a shot and he stinks, and they react to it, I will be fine. I don't think giving him a chance has to be a bad thing.
  17. Interesting they used the word "target". If he is their target I hope they are more accurate than he is. I don't want another quarterback who can't throw. I can't take it anymore. If the knock on a QB is that he can't throw very well, he isn't a quarterback. He is something else. I will be giddy about Jackson when he proves he can throw accurately.
  18. Well, I went to find the quotes (pasted below) because I thought you must have had it wrong. But I think you have maybe caught Beane on something. Doing homework and being slow and methodical doesn't go along very well with saying he talked to guys a day or two before he signed him. To me that sounds terrible. I hope there is more to the story. Anyway good job spotting that Bills. "We did our homework on all these guys, we looked at a lot of different areas, we took it slow,” Beane said. “I know everyone was jumping on guys quick, but I went with the more methodical, let’s make the right decision (approach) and not get into chase mode.” Beane said he spoke to Browns coach Hue Jackson on Tuesday night about McCarron, whom he had coached while serving as offensive coordinator in Cincinnati. Remember, Jackson wanted the Browns to acquire McCarron at the trading deadline in October and would have had him if not for an “only-the-Browns” type of clerical error. Beane also texted with two other coaches who’d worked with McCarron to get a feel for who he is." "I actually spoke to Hue Jackson the night before we signed [McCarron], texted with two other coaches of his that I know,'' Bills general manager Brandon Beane said in a Friday press conference, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. "And the one word they told me about AJ that got me fired up was 'competitor' and I love that."
  19. I don't get it either. I haven't seen the games. But what I read is that he has a goofy throwing motion. And my friend who I defer to on college QB ratings thinks he is another USC bust in the making. But he must have something going for him otherwise they wouldn't top out his grade like that. Maybe it is because he is so young to be as good as he is or something? Oh. Well then I hope you get one of your guys. I can see why you would be antsy if that is how you see things.
  20. Your answer is vague. It doesn't address the specific points I made. And no, there really are not a lot of other similar circumstances. Highlighted by you didn't even mention a single one of the "history of similar circumstances". There are however, countless examples of a quarterback improving over time. They can become , better. That may have happened. And you might want to take a moment and ask yourself, why I would have to even mention that to you as if it was a new concept. Anyway you can think it is a stupid idea. I am not so sure and I think I am not so sure because I look at the evidence. It could work out to be a good idea. I don't know even if you think you do.
  21. That is your narrative. And it isn't balanced as I see it. I see it as Foles was clutch. See Tony Romo for a great QB who was not clutch. And Foles played very well against elite competition. And he won in the Super Bowl defeating the greatest dynasty we have had so far, lead by the greatest coach, and arguably the greatest QB. And he did it in a shootout. Not by being a game manager. And if the offense was so simplified, why couldn't Bellichick neutralize it? And of he is just the product of the great team around him., how do we know Wentz is so special?
  22. Yeah but that comes at the end of October. Say they were 6-0 with Foles. Wentz stepped in and was rusty and they lost. Do you think they would trade him then? I think it could get messy on them. They never won a super bowl. Picture if it was here and we finally won and then we are on track to contend again and they just trade away the guy who was QB when we won? That would be dicey.
  23. I would have rather they did that this year. There is no trophy for making the playoffs. Which we didn't by the way, the wild card isn't the playoffs. That's why they call it the wild card. It is a playoff to get to the playoffs. As for next year "everybody" says there will be no good prospects. I dunno I'm really confused about what to do. I think right now I don't mind the idea of getting Foles by throwing Peterman to the wolves and include him in the deal with our 22 first rounder and a 2nd or 3rd round pick, for their 32 and Foles. Then build the lines and a wideout for Foles. We have almost 2 drafts worth of picks. Then pick a QB in the 2nd round every year until we get lucky on one of them. Something like that.
  24. I would call the Birds now and ask them what their plan is if they are 5-0 behind Foles next year when Wentz, who will have missed most of the off-season practices, is ready to come back. And let them think about that for a while.
  25. Is that you OJ?
