Don’t bet the farm on at the QB roulette table
BadLandsMeanie replied to VTBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. But Manning was good enough to get them to the finish line. That is all he needed to be. And no one else had. Odd that Wade got fired the next year. Wierd world of football. -
Don’t bet the farm on at the QB roulette table

EVERY example you gave is one of the Bills making an easy, lazy, second rate effort at getting a QB. "TRADING" up, oh wow, to take the 4th QB leftover, AFTER using their actual first on a wide receiver. They traded away that years 2nd and 5th, and next years first round pick, to move up to 22 overall, to pick Losman., Instead of just using the 13 overall that they already had. This was a very bad thing to do. They gave a first round pick to a division rival for a qb they wanted to get rid of(Bledsoe). And taking EJ Manuel in the first round, because you just needed a qb. They waited 9 YEARS between Losman and EJ. Then take a 3rd round guy in the first because you didn't plan or prepare. You just go on believing whatever it was One Bills drive said at the time were the wonderful reasons that did what they did. And then the results of what they did, which the entire football world usually predicted would be bad, also can not penetrate for you. Not writing or believing that things that stupid people do, doesn't make me a guy who is disguising myself as a Bills fan. -
This is an interesting mental image. And, if I may say so, not what one might think of as a "typical" or "normal" comparison. I don't know, somehow it made me laugh wondering how you came up with that item as a point of comparison? Then I got to thinking of a family so poor that this is what they do to celebrate Christmas

Making the case for Lamar Jackson
BadLandsMeanie replied to 502Buffs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The more I learn about him the more I would be very wary because of a few things. 1) His mother has been pushing for him to be a QB at least since he was in grammar school. So I am not sure if being a QB is Lamar's dream or his mother's. 2) I wonder why is he still so raw in terms of technique, if he has been wanting to be a QB since he was 12 years old or younger? Why didn't get get a bit more polished in all that time? 3) It seems like he and his mom may be enmeshed emotionally. The more I read up the more she seems to be more than a very supportive parent. Like you can't really think of one, without the other. They have to be considered in a sense, as being one person. You have to think about What Lamar will do, and what his mom will do, to know what will happen next. I think that is bad. -

It is only funny if A) you are not skycap or John from Riverside B) You don't want Jackson. -

I would like that too but posters get attention doing that, and apparently it isn't against the rules. It is getting so I automatically don't believe any thread title that I see. -

BadLandsMeanie replied to VTBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where were the manning lead broncos before manning? Where are they now, after him? Picking 5th overall. It takes some mental gymnastics to turn that around to mean that it is best to put QB on the back burner. Anyway I will stop now we will never agree. -

It is refreshing that you are a gentleman. But also consider getting a woman friend to slap her for you. -
Don’t bet the farm on at the QB roulette table
BadLandsMeanie replied to VTBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is the point right there. First round picks are a gamble. People act like only if you pick a QB are you gambling. If you have to gamble why not gamble on a player who can make a night and day difference? And it doesn't even have to stop with the busts. None of our first round picks, none of them, not one, has made any difference at all in making us a top notch team. But you guys who just want to keep doing the same thing the Bills have done for so long that i am literally growing old watching them do it, I just can't wrap my head around that. Sorry but there is just no way. -

The Patriots have been filling the Bills hole for 20 years now. And by God, I say let's make it 20 more! Or what about forever? Lets just keep being the stupidest most cowardly team out there, forever! Taking chances is for winners, and that is not who we are. -

Bills going to LA to visit and workout Sam Darnold
BadLandsMeanie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its April and it snowed here. It has been below freezing. It was like 20 degrees last night. Point being, they are going to California. Maybe they slipped his agent 200 bucks to say Darnold couldn't make it here and they all will sadly have to go to Cali to see him. -
Peter King from the article: "I tried to denude Brandt of everything he knows about the 2018 crop." Once you start to see the homoerotic subtext in the football world, its hard to stop noticing it.

This is sobering in a way so don't read of you are over anxious already! History tells us the NFL is terrible at evaluating quarterbacks Bill Barnwell ESPN Staff Writer We could come close to an NFL record this year before any players take a snap. There are five quarterbacks who could come off the board on Day 1 of the draft, which would tie the 1999 draft for the second most since the merger. The only draft to post six first-rounders is the legendary Class of 1983, which delivered a trio of Hall of Famers in John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino. As much as the league seems to be struggling to pick between the prospects in this year's class, though, the coaches and executives of 1983 weren't able to separate the wheat from the chaff until well after the fact. Elway was the first overall pick, but the Chiefs still managed to draft Todd Blackledge seven picks before Kelly. Blackledge threw 29 career touchdowns. Kelly topped 29 in 1991 alone. Tony Eason was taken one pick after Kelly and 12 picks before Marino, who would post the greatest passing season in league history to that point during his second campaign. A league full of coaches and personnel executives who had spent and would go on to spend the majority of their lives working in the game of football were not able to pick between a trio of future Hall of Famers and two guys who would fail to make a single Pro Bowl. (Ken O'Brien, drafted after Eason and before Marino, at least made two Pro Bowls over his 10-year career.) Thirty-five years later, I'm not entirely convinced we've gotten much better at evaluating quarterbacks. The league has access to more information than ever before, but the job has become tougher. A wider range of passing offenses at the collegiate level have made it more difficult for obstinate coaches to translate amateur success into bland professional schemes. Passers come better prepared for the pre-draft process than ever before and are far more selective about throwing at the combine. As a result, the range of opinions -- anonymous and otherwise -- we hear about these players before they enter the league is truly remarkable. The error bars are impossibly large. Ask around about Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen and you'll hear that he'll turn into budding MVP candidate Carson Wentz or Titans washout Jake Locker. You'll hear that Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield will turn into either Johnny Manziel or Russell Wilson. This doesn't happen in other sports. Jaylen Brown didn't enter the NBA draft only to be compared to both Jimmy Butler and Bill Murray in "Space Jam." I would say Magaddino's. They have all the TVs plus a nice menu. You can order Squealer on a Slab, which is of course pork loin baked on a cedar plank. Or the Skewered Stool Pigeon which is a fresh never frozen Cornish game hen that was strangled to order and then cooked on a spit with herbs. -
2018 NFL Draft Bills Interest Tracker

Thanks Man! I appreciate that and I take it very kindly. I'm off to read it now. And I don't mind if it is long winded, I am a good reader. I read a whole book once! But yeah the longer the better I say so long as it is more info! -
Exactly. I do as you say I believe nothing. But somebody should be able to guess at what teams are up to with what lie, based on their needs and past actions of that Gm and stuff. It would be fun to have someone explain what might be happening and why. Then again maybe no one can make any sense of it at all!

2018 NFL Draft Bills Interest Tracker

Maybe take a look at my post! I am asking why no writer gives an overview of the draft maneuvering soap opera, so to speak. I wonder if you have any input for me? -
Why Doesn't Any Writer Give Us an Overview of The Draft Soap Opera? I am trying to follow and make sense of all the different reports and leaks coming out of front offices across the league. Of course I can't because I don't have the time or experience. Let me explain what I mean. Why would any front office run right out and tell a reporter who they are targeting? Wouldn't that be crazy in any spot besides #1 overall? But we get those reports. Or the report on the board right now where the Bucs Gm has to run right out and blab that they have been contacted about a trade back, and then apparently blab some more that it was the Bills? I would not be very happy about that if I was Brandon Beane. Is any of this stuff true? Does it all make sense to anyone? Or is everybody just reporting a pack of lies designed to deceive? This would make a fascinating series of articles. Why isn't anybody doing it? Or is someone taking an overview and explaining what the think everyone is up to, and I just don't know about it?

I was getting very worried because the O linemen aren't listed until towards the end. But it looks like they are talking to plenty of them. Also, no Darnold. Hmmm -
