  1. Need the names of three college players, amigo. If you think we trade our 2nd rounder for Gaither, then you'd give me the names of who you think we'll take with our remaining 3 highest picks.
  2. The last couple years I've offered up a $25 Amazon gift card to anyone who can correctly predict the Bills' first 3 selections in the draft. No one has done it yet (although MattyT got 2 of 3 two years ago), but maybe this is the year! I know others have posted draft contests, and I don't mean to rain on their parade, but it can't hurt to have one more in the mix. Anyway, the rules are simple: 1) Simply give me three names (first and last). No need to provide pick numbers, positions, or college attended (although you may if you like). Just three names, in any order. If the three names you give are the same as the three names of the Bills' first three picks, you win the gift card. 2) Whether the Bills trade up, down, or trade for a player like Jared Gaither is irrelevant. The winner of the contest will correctly give the names of the first three college players the Bills pick, regardless of when the Bills pick them (so don't include Gaither as one of your three names!). 3) If more than one person gets it right, the gift card will go to the person who was the first to post their picks in this thread. 4) Please enter only once. If you need to change your picks, please clearly indicate in the thread that you are forfeiting your previous entry and submitting a new one. 5) Sorry, but no prize for getting 2 of 3, or if one of the three names you give is the fourth or fifth guy the Bills draft. You must hit all three of the Bills' first three players selected. I'll start with my projections: Trent Williams, Terrence Cody, Eric Decker FYI: Here's the link to last year's contest (EDIT) and the 2008 contest.
  3. That means almost nothing. Similar comments are frequently made right before the player in question is traded. See McNabb, Donovan.
  4. Because hope springs eternal. Go Bills.
  5. Could not agree more. The Packers o-line was dreadful last year. Aaron Rodgers threw for 4,434 yards and 30 TDs last year. If Clausen is there, and the they think he's a franchise QB, he MUST be the pick.
  6. My only problem with Frazier is his history with the Tampa 2 defense, which I loathe. Other than that, he's fine.
  7. John Harbaugh wasn't a coordinator, and he's been doing ok for the Ravens. Does that mean Grimm will be a good head coach? No. But it does show you can succeed without having experience as a coordinator.
  8. Well, with Cowher, Harbaugh, and the Schotts seemingly out of the picture, and Frazier a Tampa 2 guy, I am now officially in the Russ Grimm camp. My reason is simple: Toughness. Toughness is perhaps the biggest thing this team has been missing in recent years. From that I have seen about Grimm, he's a tough SOB. And I think he'd fit in well in Buffalo. True, he would have to hire experienced and knowledgeable coordinators. But other head coaches have been successful without first serving as offensive or defensive coordinators. I think Grimm would be a good tone-setter as the head guy. And don't discount or minimize what his impact could be on our lines. The guy knows line play. And if you have good a good O-line and a good D-line, you're well on your way to becoming a good team.
  9. Looking at the rest of this guy Stangel's tweets, I think this might be a joke.
  10. Ya know, looking at the rest of this Stangel guy's tweets, I'm thinking it might be.
  11. On ESPN pregame, Schefter says "There's as much chance of Bill Cowher coaching the Bills next year as me coaching the Bills next year." Also, Mort lists Jason Garrett as potential sleeper for Bills job.
  12. Good point on the timing of a potential announcement. Tomorrow or Sunday would make sense. Something just doesn't add up. The Bills have interviewed Fewell and Frazier and that's it? None of the other coordinator "candidates" have been contacted? And Lombardi says the Bills are close to making a decision? Taken together, those tidbits lead me to believe that something is going on with either Cowher, Harbaugh, or Billick. The most likely of those three, based on everything I've heard, is Cowher.
  13. This is putting the "Cowhert" before the horse, so to speak, but if Cowher is the guy who are some coordinators he might look at? One that jumps out to me is Jim Haslett, who was Cowher's d-coordinator in the late 90s I believe. While I agree with most people here that Haslett is not a good head coaching fit for the Bills, I'd love to see him as DC. According to Jason LaCanfora's Twitter post, Haslett will interview for the Redskins defensive coordinator post:
  14. Exactly right. Cowher has not said he plans to return to CBS next year. The Bills have the only open job right now. To me, that means there's a solid chance he's considering the Bills' job.
  15. In my opinion, Marty's comments are the best news yet for those of us who are hoping for Cowher to come to Buffalo. Marty obviously close to Cowher, and I'd take his word over Schefter's source any day.
  16. Slim, this board is great, but some posters can be snobbish beyond belief. In one of life's little ironies, if anything is overplayed on this board, it is the snobs' critical comments about repeated threads, not the repeated threads themselves. I know I spend more time sifting through those critical comments than I do sifting through the repeated threads and links. Having said that, I feel I've followed this story as close as a fan can, and I hadn't seen Carucci's comments about the Bills still actively pursuing Cowher. For all I knew, they had given up on him, so your post was news to me. And for that, sir, I thank you.
  17. Why do people keep feeling the need to say that Frazier is so qualified for the job? It's so patronizing. No one is disputing whether he is qualified. The question is whether he is the most qualified and the best fit overall.
  18. As would I, but he might need a Ray Lewis-led all-time great defense to do it, which can be sorta hard to come by.
  19. Agree completely. Just because you've missed on coordinators in the past doesn't mean you eliminate them from consideration. Having said that, count me among those who think the Frazier interview is simply due diligence mixed with a desire to give minority candidates more than the bare minimum consideration required by the rules. Not saying Frazier isn't qualified, but I'd be shocked if he's the Bills' next coach. He just doesn't fit the profile of what we seem to be looking for. As a side note, I live in the Baltimore area and, believe me, Billick's failings as a coach are not lost on Ravens fans here. The guy was fired for a reason -- year after year of pedestrian offenses. Haven't we seen enough of those in Buffalo?
  20. Doubt he'll answer any questions about his coaching status, but it's worth a shot ... http://chat.nfl.com/front/index/692
  21. People will bet on anything and everything. But seriously, it does give some guidance if you assume that the people most closely watching the situation are those who have money riding on it (and of course all of us Bills die-hards).
  22. Cowher, Schott, then Jim Harbaugh. An interesting take -- just follow the money: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=aCCcU3aqzygo
  23. Exactly right. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the only person who has had information on the Cowher situation that turned out to be correct is Coach Sal. Everyone else is acting like the have good sources, but it's clear by the contradicting reports that almost all of them are dead wrong.
