The timing of this would indicate he'd be dealt for a QB, right? Nassib would make a lot of sense to me. Do the Giants need help at safety?

Byrd Full Participant at practice today
Reddy Freddy replied to dascottbills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree completely. I had chronic back pain for years until reading Sarno's book. -
It's funny how after a win almost every game seems winnable, and after a loss it feels like we might never win again. I think this is the most optimistic scenario that is still realistic, if that makes sense. I could see it happening, but I could also see 5-9. I'll predict 7-7, flipping the Pitt and Cincy games to losses. Then I'll say we beat Miami at home in week 16 and have an outside shot at the playoffs going into week 17 at New England.

Given the entire context of the situation, Byrd's demeanor when he has spoken to the media, his agent's track record of ruthlessness, and a wide range of other factors, I'd say it's a very, VERY remote possibility. It's far more likely that he is pouting because the Bills didn't give him the contract he wants.

Should've taken Nassib. -
Manuel's first TD pass was his call

Stevie said his TD was called by EJ too. It's in his presser from yesterday on bb.com (same one where he says his drop was harder than it looked). -
Bills to sign K Dan Carpenter

But our pets' heads are falling off! -
Yeah but couldn't you make the same argument that if he wanted to do himself a favor and play at a high level this season he would have been at training camp so he learned the new D etc? He didn't have a problem possibly undermining his success this season by skipping camp, so I don't think it's that outlandish to think he might be taking his sweet time coming back from the PF. Not saying that's definitely the case, but I don't think anyone can say for sure.

Wow some people get all fired up at the idea that Byrd might be dogging it a little because he's pouting. I don't think it's that far-fetched personally.

Bills roster cut down to 50 (-18 then -5 more)
Reddy Freddy replied to zazie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. I guess they could bump Thad up to the active roster if EJ has a setback and is not ready to go, but that would seem like a pretty big gamble since any team could snatch up Thad from the PS at any time. I realize that's not likely, but if it happened and EJ wasn't ready for some reason then we'd be screwed. All that to say I think this is pretty unequivocal evidence that EJ is good to go. -

La Canfora just tweeted we're sticking with EJ and Tuel as the only QBs for week 1. Good indication that EJ will be ready to go. -
Ok now what to do at QB???
Reddy Freddy replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
@JasonLaCanfora: Bills sticking with 2 QBs going into Week 1: Manuel, who is coming off a minor meniscus repair, and Tuel, a UDFA who showed well in camp This has got to mean 2 things: 1) EJ will at least dress for opener and 2) Thad to the practice squad -
Yep, watched that one game and it was indeed a terrible performance, and as an obsessive Bills fan I loved every minute of it. But while we're talking about individual games, did you see the one where he threw for 300+ in beating the heavily-favored Steelers in the playoffs, who I believe had the top ranked defense in the NFL that season? Or any of these? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000211708/article/ultimate-tim-tebow-comebacks Look, he hasn't been consistent, and I'm not putting him in Canton. But to paint him as a bum is just ignorant in my opinion. Ok, this thread is really dead to me now. Maybe.
-
Haha, well, this is the kind of "thoughtful" and "well-reasoned" argument I'm used to hearing from the anti-Tebow crowd. But I think you inadvertently helped prove the point that the Tebow hate has little to do with how he plays football. Random thought, then this thread can die forever: it must be awful going through life being the kind of person that truly hates someone for being a good guy.
-
I think you said this better and more succinctly than I did. My thoughts exactly, except that I know where the hate comes from, and most of it is not because of how he plays football.
-
I compared him to Carr and Dixon because those are other guys who have been cut and who some are suggesting should be brought in as the Bills' third QB. I mean you can play the numbers game all day - Tebow's career passer rating is 75 - certainly not great but in my opinion not bad enough that you would discount him from being a viable backup QB option. And again, that doesnt even take into account his running ability. In terms of NFL starters, his career passer rating is right around guys like Alex Smith and Ryan Tannehill, and obviously it took Smith years to ascend to that level. Not saying he's Peyton Manning, but lets not make him out to be totally incompetent either.
-
That's a fair point, but I think most people would agree that the lack of interest around the NFL has a lot to do with the media circus that comes with Tebow, as well as the fact that his fans will call for him to start as soon as the starting QB faulters even a little. Those might be good reasons to avoid signing him, but in my opinion his performance on the field is not a good reason to avoid signin him. By the way, even taking away his rushing stats (which is obviously a huge part of his game), Tebow has a better career PASSER rating than both David Carr and Dennis Dixon. Would people be up in arms if the Bills brought either of those guys in as their third QB?
-
Stop - you're making too much sense and raining on the Tebow hate parade. I'm absolutely with you. The guy is unconventional but he's simply good at football. He has been hugely successful wherever he has been at every level of football when given a chance to start. People seem to have this absolutely visceral hatred toward him because 1) he's in the news a lot, 2) he talks about God a lot, 3) he looks funny when he throws, and 4) they don't like his legions of fans. I get all that, but people should at least TRY to not let those factors influence what they think of him as a football player.
-
Stop you're making too much sense. How dare you infringe on the Tebow hatefest that seems to stem almost exclusively from the fact that he 1) is in the news a lot and 2) talks about God a lot. I can hear the outraged rebuttals now: "But but but his completion percentage is low! And he looks funny when he throws!" Nevermind the fact that he has been successful and he has won whenever he has gotten a chance to start at quarterback, from high school to college to Denver.

Haha no I was being serious. It just struck me that not many people are ever curious about anything having to do with a guy named Legursky. -
