  1. I would gladly trade a blackout for something that might adversely affect any designs Toronto has on the Bills. (And I have Sabres tickets that night, anyway.)
  2. Shoddy tackling by both teams' secondaries. But a fun game to watch. NFL, take note: this is what football looks like. It doesn't look like a string of commercials for crappy Buicks that no one wants; it looks like this.
  3. I've felt this way for years. In a 3+ hour game, there are fewer than 10 minutes of actual action. Announcers are horrible. Commercials after a touchdown and then after a kickoff kill any flow there may have been. The officiating is inconsistent. The play itself has become boring--with a couple of exceptions, it's like the whole league has gone the way of the NFC East, circa 1989. If it weren't for the Bills, I wouldn't watch the NFL at all--I'd stick to college ball. But, unfortunately, I'm a Bills fan.
  4. Classy move. The guy made a mistake, apologized, has paid or will pay a fine, and then took a step that he didn't have to take. He doesn't need the good PR coming from it (what the hell does he care about what we think of him); it just was a nice gesture.
  5. I ended up listening to quite a bit of this as I unexpectedly had a long evening drive. Parts of it were hilarious, all of it was entertaining, and I learned a little bit about some movies I hadn't seen (but probably will now). All in all, not a bad use of a couple of hours by those radio hosts. They did talk sports as well. I, for one, am glad that they didn't have four hours of "Edwards sucks," "Vanek needs to produce," and "Jauron is an idiot," for a change.
  6. The Bills tickets likely will be a LOT cheaper. I have--already--two sets of people who have asked whether they can buy my tickets to the Penguins game, which is a "gold" game, and don't forget that Pens fans travel and will buy up loads of tickets themselves. But it is a game with more meaning, and it probably will be more fun. On the other hand, if the weather is nice, you could have yourself a merry little tailgate out in OP, and that could be a lot more fun than hanging out at Pearl Street Brewery or City Grill. You also might have a better chance of seeing a win, believe it or not, if the Colts have everything sewn up and don't start their first-teamers. Pittsburgh is going to give the Sabres a headache.
  7. Of course, there's not presently a way to tell, but I believe they would have winning records. Maybe even 10 or 11 wins in a season. That's not too far from where they are now, though.
  8. Now 57% are wrong, including me. Even cooler.
  9. Didn't take long for 26% of you to be wrong. Cool!
  10. Man, I miss those teams. Sundays were so much fun then; now, they're just a struggle to get through. Anyone know if those three TDs are the fastest three TDs in history?
  11. As usual, half of the responses concentrate on attacking other people, and ignore the good points. Above is the good point. You're absolutely right.
  12. 1. It's tacitly, not "tactitly," which is not a word. But you're right, Snyder does not know tact. 2. This has nothing to do with free speech rights, because FedEx Field is not a public forum. 3. The Redskins play in Maryland. 4. President Obama has nothing to do with this, but nice of you to bring up our Commander in Chief. Funny, I've never heard the Right criticize the media. Oh, wait, yes I have. ALL THE TIME. Now wave your flag and support our President! 5. I note how Snyder's lawyers and press people helped us realize that the true victim is the team, and not the unemployed woman. I was in real danger of getting it screwed up, myself, and thinking that the woman was the victim. 6. They should riot and give Snyder hell.
  13. 1. There's a new Embassy Suites on Delaware, one block from Chippewa. Opened in July. Very nice, and if you're coming for hockey, you'll like it: NHL teams seem to stay there so far this season (there are autograph hounds outside on game mornings). 2. There is not a Comfort Suites on Allen.
  14. Not popularity of the team--popularity of the bet. No. 1 is exactly how it works. There's a great book on this called The Odds.
  15. That's not grammar "Nazi." That's not even grammar "French surrender monkey." It's not like you're being overly picky, or that the distinction between "are" and "our" is hypertechnical. It's pretty freaking basic. The words aren't even pronounced the same way.
  16. 1. Do we win or Lose? Win. 2. Fitz over or under 225 yards? Under. 3. Will Fitz have 2 or more TD's? No, unless he rushes for one or both. Passing? No. 4. Will we have a 100 yard rusher? No, but the Bills will have two rushers over 80 yards each. 5. Do either of WR's have a 100 yard game (or both)? No. 6. Bills 20+ points scored? Yes. 7. Bills 20+ points allowed? No. 8. Will we give up more than 3 sacks: Yes. 9. Will we have less fewer than 4 penalties: No. 10. Miscellaneous prediction: At least 13 Bills points are scored by the defense and special teams (including FGs).
  17. I don't have that, but I do have Leroy Nieman's print of OJ rushing through the Kansas City line. Is that worse?
  18. This is absolutely right on. Not enough to overturn at all. And again, if it were Wayne or Welker, do you really think it even would have been reviewed? (I'm no conspiracy theorist; see my earlier post in this thread.)
  19. Everyone's in such a hurry to add to the thread, and no one mentioned the third post. This post is correct.
  20. Just addressing your last sentence, since we're bound to disagree on the rest, yes, Marino did have a good career in Miami. Unless you define "good career" by the fact that he could not once get by our Buffalo Bills when it mattered, that pastel-wearing, ref-whining, beeeyotch. But other than that, yeah, he wasn't bad.
  21. Ok. If Kelly and Ferguson aren't good enough counter-examples, how about Messrs. Favre, McMahon, or E. Manning? All from warm-weather schools and backgrounds, and all Super Bowl winners in cold-weather cities. And then there are the cold-weather background guys who couldn't get anywhere in warm weather pro cities, like Marino, Blackledge, Griese, Pennington, Steve Pelleur, whatever, it's countless. Your construct doesn't hold up, but I'm betting it was well-intentioned. You don't seem like a dick. Problem isn't that certain QBs are from warmer climes; problem is that they aren't good QBs. I miss Cleve Park, BTW.
  22. YES! Thank God Kelly and Fergie went to winter-weather college programs.
  23. There wasn't; the Bills got jobbed and overcame it. Happened all the time in our favor, about 18 years ago.
