  1. That is EXACTLY what will happen.
  2. As a guy who didn't want Vick here, I can't complain that the Bills don't have him. But that doesn't make it right for the league to manipulate rosters this way.
  3. He sure did. The big problem is that they're not allowed to have a job. Either cut practice to 20 hours/week and let them have legitimate jobs, or give them $3000 in walking around money per semester (yes, I think that's plenty). I don't know how much has changed since the late eighties, but we weren't going out to dinner at nice restaurants too often. Bennigan's twice a semester was about it. And I don't think the scholarship athlete needs any more money than the scholarship musician or engineer does (I understand that kids in those categories are allowed to work--but I also understand that they'll be putting in a hell of a lot of time practicing or studying, meaning they're not going to earn more than about $3000 per semester working). Also--let's not forget that the scholarship swimmer, wrestler, track star, etc. seems to get by without a job and without any handouts from boosters. They can't work, either. So what? The water polo kids aren't allowed to work, either. (See above...) How much do you think the UB programs make? Most programs do lose money. Miami probably doesn't, though. The best solution is a true minor league system for football and basketball. Then a kid can make a real choice between pursuing sports and college or just sports. Works just fine for hockey and baseball players.
  4. Well, it did give Vince Wilfork to the world. Then again, it gave Jim Kelly to Buffalo. But all around, I'll agree that it's a massive bag of d*cks.
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/news?slug=cr-renegade_miami_booster_details_illicit_benefits_081611 The University of Miami is going down. I mean, SMU-style, going down.
  6. Looks like another thing that the Sabres handled well and the Bills didn't: the number 11.
  7. Third defensive play of week 3.
  8. Oh, it's not embarrassing; it's entertaining. I love the drunk calls starting at 415pm on Sundays. But I also usually like S&B's show, too.
  9. I don't think so. The "hardcore," assuming you mean big drinkers, will avoid those lots like the plague. Amen. This is more of a "something for everyone" than it is a "screw the hardcore tailgaters." The team left options open in other team-owned lots, and of course there are always independent lots like Hammer's, where even the league restrictions don't apply.
  10. For some people, getting in and out is a priority--not everyone tailgates; some people just want to watch the game. And even some people who tailgate want to do so before the game, but not afterwards. Lots 2 and 3 are for these people now; everyone else still has a wide variety of parking options. I don't think they've "ruined" or "watered down" anything at all--they've added an option for people who want to get out quickly after the game while preserving other lots for people who want to hang out afterwards.

  13. The sub-headline was A wonderfully written One; nice job John C.
  14. I think you meant, "It's already August."
  15. There is a spoiler tag... In any event, I was surprised to see Fergie on there. I was also surprised at the absence of some QBs who were not on there, like .
  16. Here's a hint: Three former Bills are among the answers. http://www.sporcle.com/games/14bball21/top-50-career-nfl-passing-yards-leaders-mines
  17. Unfortunately, not even close. There's always Walt Patulski, and there are actually a few more that were worse; I'd nominate Terry Miller and CERTAINLY Mike Williams for that dubious award, too. (At least Tom Cousineau turned into the best QB we've seen in Buffalo, but that was a crappy pick, too.)
  18. I wouldn't mind the Bills actually spending some real coin on a 2-year deal for Heap, some real REAL coin on Gaither, retaining Poz (unless they can improve there, and I'm not sure they can), and calling it a day.
  19. It's about Belichick. Geez. If he had called it "Between the Lines," instead of "Between the Lies," would it have been more freaking plain? (Only half kidding.)
  20. Agreed to a point...he's a decent filler who might be good if surrounded with the right teammates. He's the Jochen Hecht of football.
  21. He always was going to do it. The real shame lies in the fact that he absolutely could have floated their pay across the lockout, but didn't. These are people without millions of dollars. But apparently, a lot of NFL owners pulled the same ****, so whatever.
  22. Of course there's Brett Favre talk. Seemingly there will be Brett Favre talk as long as (1) there's a football league and (2) he's alive. But there's something funny with Mike Florio's latest: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/23/report-eagles-interested-in-brett-favre/ That's not a picture of Favre. (Hover your mouse over the photo and you'll get the description, "favreimpersonator.") Instead, the website--on purpose or accidentally--references this video: I hope it's on purpose. That would be hilarious. Note: There's a word or two in the video that may (but probably shouldn't) be offensive to some; think of the first name of a former Bills head coach and you're on track...
  23. You said it before I could. I know what the recent Supreme Court ruling said, and I also know that the reality is that it's one business, albeit one with franchises that compete against one another. Also, anyone who is against revenue sharing should take a serious look at MLB and the English Premier League. Is that what we want?
