  1. And a damned dirty one under today's rules. He used to absolutely debilitate people. Probably not the best example for the point the poster was trying to make.
  2. It's actually the NFL, and not OBD, that made this decision, but I agree that it is pretty stupid. I got to the gate an hour before the NE game, just so I didn't have to deal with the near soccer tragedy experience that bbb referenced above. Once in, there was absolutely nothing to do for an hour. Now that's on OBD. Get enough screeners out there so that we don't face the Hobson's choice of either getting in an hour early or dealing with a dangerous situation at the gate. Put a classic game on the Jumbotron or have some nice stores in the stadium or something. I would have a much easier time killing an hour in the arena before a Sabres game than I did at RWS. As for the plastic liquor bottles: I know a group of guys who do just that (and have been doing it for years) with little airline bottles of scotch. They're in their sixties, so I doubt that they're the "target" drunks that the Bills want to eliminate, but still...
  3. I think the smoking ban may be the dumbest thing they have done. There are entire areas designed for smoking; there is no other logical reason for some of these areas to exist. When I drink, I smoke out of habit. The last game I went to, after two beers, I was edgy because I wanted a cigarette. Exactly the sort of thing that would have provoked me to do something stupid when I was younger and drank more. ______ As for those castigating the guy who thinks it's inappropriate to bring a five-year-old to the game, well, I agree with him. I've said a few times that an NFL game, like a rock concert, is no place for a child; it's a place for grownups to have fun and blow off steam. Even though I don't get drunk at games, I still want to be able to scream "!@#$ yeah" at the top of my lungs when the Bills score a touchdown without worrying about young, sensitive ears around me. There are plenty of places for family-oriented fun. I guess if the folks who want to bring young children had somewhere designated to sit, and they didn't have to walk through a gauntlet of idiots to get there, it would solve both problems.
  4. I'll agree with that; I've been to a few stadiums and I haven't ever seen anything as bad as RWS. I've heard from my brother-in-law (Bears fan) that Soldier Field is a similar pit of despair, but I haven't witnessed it (and he's never seen RWS, either).
  5. I'll confess to not reading through the previous forty-four posts before responding.
  6. And Kelly could throw four picks and still win a game. That was then; this is now. Two picks is damning, now.
  7. I attempted three times to watch on ESPN3. Each time, I had the dreaded "loading" wheel for five minutes. I even performed a complete restart. Nope, no UB-Florida State for me. And ESPN3 works fine for me normally; I was able, for example, to have the second half of Saturday's (Sunday morning's?) Oregon game on, no problems. Hell, I'm able to watch my high school play on my iPad, computer, phone, no problems. But UB? No, of course, there's a problem. It's UB. It's just the way that it is. I'll guess that in parts of Florida, it was on local TV. And I'll note the 25+ point loss, too. I love my school (I was in charge of homecoming twice), but the athletics department is on par with the D-III program that it was when I went there, and the alumni relations group is not much better. Sorry, folks, but UB has a long, long way to go to even match up with the Tulanes and Tulsas of the world, much less big programs. (And no, this isn't because of ESPN3. It's because it's UB. Take it seriously or stop wasting money on it; there is no shame in a good D-III program, but there's a lot of shame in sinking half-assed money into a D-I program. Do it right or don't do it at all.)
  8. I refer you to my subsequent post.
  9. They don't put money into the team, failed to "take it to the next level" after almost making it to the big tournament a few years ago, don't draw fans, have a completely amateurish arena atmosphere (seriously, it's like a AA baseball game in there, with bounce houses, dinosaurs, and stuff), aren't exciting, etc. Maybe "horrible" was strong. "Interminably 'blah,'" is that better? EDIT: I may try to watch on ESPN3 tonight. I'd rather watch the Sabres-Soviets replay though. So if I'm home, vintage hockey it is. If not, basketball on the iPad.
  10. They wouldn't pour any more money into the team than they do now. There's no NBA in town, and nevertheless, UB is horrible with basketball, too.
  11. As a UB alum who was very involved while there, and who lives in Buffalo now after ten years away: No. There's not even a qualifier. Just no.
  12. Quick, the positive thing!
  13. Wow. Fantasy indeed; bordering on insanity. UB does nothing right when it comes to its major athletics programs.
  14. It's not just him. It's his lawyers, too. This smacks of collusion.
  15. Thanks. This should be thrown out summarily, if they're relying upon the TCPA.
  16. I'm not going to debate you, Jerry. I'm not going to sit here and debate.
  17. Marty was with the Browns for five or six years and left in 1988. The Ravens won the SB in what, 2000? That's not recovering from him. So the Bills would be on track for a nice SB win in 2031 or so, if they hire him next year. Great. Change does not have to involve more mistakes.
  18. Te'o is awesome, but if there's a franchise Q available, it begins and ends there. Clay Matthews didn't win the SB for the Packers. Rodgers did, you know?
  19. Are you kidding? He doesn't really have his pick of NFL jobs. For good reason. Keep him the hell away from here. If there's a Marty sighting at the airport, shut down all highways.
  20. Still doesn't mean that he's the answer. He isn't.
  21. Changes are fine, but Schottenheimer? Good Lord, no. EDIT: Anticipating the argument that he improves teams and gets them into the playoffs, even if he doesn't get to Super Bowls, think about it this way: No team that he ever has coached has recovered from his tenure.
  22. It would be at least the second. Sabrespace tried that. It got hilarious, then hurtful, and then Scott took our dislike toy away.
  23. For !@#$'s sake, its roll. It's not even being a grammar nazi; this stuff isn't hard.
