  1. Week 1 is the best chance for upsets to happen. Tendencies aren't set, and you get the whole preseason to plan for the game. Besides, if it is given as a loss, would you rather lose it in week 1 and have a chance to make up for it later in the season, or lose it week 14 and cripple your playoff chances?
  2. No better time to get them, IMO.
  3. Until they invent a way to stop the brain from smashing the inside of the skull, I don't see how different helmets will make that much of a difference. Seems to me that they are trying to do something just for the appearance of actually doing something. Kinda reminds me how people like to say that speed kills. In actuality, it's the sudden stop that gets ya.
  4. Started watching this, just finished episode 6. Interesting series. Kind of a mix between Law Abiding Citizen and Bosch, with a sprinkle of The Killing mixed in.
  5. What you mean by this?
  6. Yup. I recently watched The Wire, and found it interesting that it was tied to the "Homicide" show from the 90s.
  7. Best season, IMO. Hopefully, it's not the last. It sure felt like it, though.
  8. When I ran into him in the Orlando, Fl courthouse elevator a couple weeks ago, he seemed pretty humanish.
  9. No, handcuffs aren't illegal. It is illegal to possess a hidden handcuff key, though.
  10. Whenever you see a punch bowl, you just have to pee in it, huh? Geeeeeez
  11. It was given as a gift for my birthday. The website is below. I went on an open track day. Got a full day of fun in, from 9 to 4 with an hour lunch. Since it was my first time, I also had to have an instructor give me a basic class, which cost a little extra. http://gorally.com
  12. Took my ride to the track yesterday, for the first time ever. I had an absolute blast! 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
  13. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-hearing-risk-protection-order-velasquez-20180402-story.html Florida enacted a law in response to the MSD shooting, which basically allows a temporary protection order preventing the purchase of firearms and surrender of existing firearms. The first case in which it was used in Florida has now been heard in front of a judge.
  14. Are you profiling me?? You think I look like Lieutenant Dangle from Reno 911?
  15. Where was Doogie Howser, M.D. when you need him?!
  16. It was my night off. I was bored and my harassment quota hadn't been met. Oh well.
  17. Newsflash: this is how most of us operate. When I say most, I mean 95%+. Unless you are doing something crazy, stupid, or are drunk you are likely getting a warning. Do you honestly think that we enjoy going to court on our days off? Contrary to what you believe, cops are people. Living, breathing human beings that have thoughts, feelings, hurts, and desires. The vast majority are good, even exceptional, people and are doing the job out of a sense of duty. There are some bad, power tripping cops. Heck, you may even have the blessing to be stopped by a rookie who spent 6 months in the academy having wet dreams about writing that first ticket. The reality of the job changes em, and most of us learn what is really important. You are a dreamer, though. That's a good thing, in a way. Especially if you actually do something to make those dreams reality. For now, however, I am a realist. The reality is evil exists. People make mistakes. I'm willing try to mitigate the damages done by that evil and those mistakes. Just remember, that I am also human, so it is possible that I make a mistake too. I'm doing the best I can, though. And, so are the vast majority of my brothers and sisters in blue. I'm not mandated by anyone to write a ticket in any given situation. The decision is mine, and mine alone. I don't give two poops about where the money goes. All I care about is preventing recidivism in unsafe driving behaviors. That can be done most times with a friendly smile, and a warning. I admit that this is not the case for small town cops where there may be a political agenda. But these are not the rule where I am. All bets are off if you get stoppedby a cop on a motorcycle. They fall in that 5% of cops I referenced earlier.
  18. I'm fully aware of your backstory, and the genesis for your cop hatred. But, thanks for the reminder.
  19. Harassing 9?? Every stop I make is legal, my friend. Just because you and your crackpot beliefs feel this is harassment doesn't make it objectively so.
  20. Get one guy here and there? You may, or may not, know this about me, but my nightly duty is to remove impaired drivers from the roadways. I'm pretty good at it. Sometimes it takes just one stop, sometimes I have to make 10 stops, before I find my fish. Every stop I make is legal. Do the ends justify the means, here? What happens when me, and those like me, aren't around? How are you going to take it upon yourself to prevent a drunk from crashing into you or your loved ones? Or, will you stand on the firm, sandy ground of "it won't happen to me"?
