  1. I don't know about Sony Vegas. Is it any good? Affordable? I have used Adobe Premiere in the past. For the most part Premiere is easy to use but it has it's share of bugs. Have you ever used Final Cut Pro or Avid? FCP is for Macs, it is affordable and effective. A friend of mine who went to USC swears by Avid. Avid is pricey but high quality. What is the story with your video and film work? Are you a student or a free lancer? It can be an expensive hobby.
  2. The original thread was about the lack of coverage of UB basketball in the Buffalo News. My point was UB basketball is simply not important enough to todays bottom line at the Buffalo News. You are correct, it was 23 years ago since the CE was last published. As for UB hockey?
  3. About a year ago Sidney Crosby did something similar in one of his junior (QMJHL)games. It was available on the team site (Rimouski) for a short time. If I knew where to get a clip I would post it. Crosby should be fun to watch IF and when the NHL resumes.
  4. This takes some amazing skill... http://www.big-boys.com/articles/besthockey.html
  5. When money took control over substance, local college and high school coverage suffered. Also, when the Buffalo (Evening) News had a formidable competitor in the Courier Express, the coverage of local sports was great in both publications. Ever since the demise of the Courier and the significant loss of Buffalo's population (ad revenue), coverage of local college sports took a serious hit. I just checked out UB's Athletics Home Page and noticed that UB no longer has Division I hockey. It was replaced at some point by "Club Hockey". What happened? Title IX?
  6. First, what ever happened to waiting in line for your turn? Second, I couldn't tell from the audio that race had anything to do with the incident. Some Buffalonians may recall the Richard Long murder in North Buffalo during the late 1970's. A verbal altercation led to Long being chased down and beaten to death by a group of off-duty cops. Long was white and so were the cops. People can be animals regardless of race. Third, just a reach but maybe this huge guy has a history of getting his way in part because of his size and his violent tendencies. Get in line, be patient and your turn will come. Civility. Catch it.
  7. From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04363/433571.stm I wouldn't take them lightly. Don't fall for it.
  8. Henry and Willis have different styles and different skills. Willis can get through very small holes by his quick, slithering style and effective use of the straight arm. Henry puts his shoulder down to get extra yardage. An earlier post mentioned that a combination of things explain why the Bills are doing better on offense, I agree. One of those factors is Willis. Travis did not have a good year. He did have two very good years as part of an offense that overall, did very poorly. He can still help somebody, if not the Bills. One possibility is to package Travis and Josh Reed for a higher draft pick. But is either one and both attractive enough to anybody willing to trade a higher pick? The Bills still need a consistent pass rush threat as the Bills defensive line doesn't match up well with some of the better offensive lines. A dominating stud on the offensive line would be welcome also.
  9. Orenthal and Larry Watkins also did it in the opener of 1973 (?). Orenthal had 250 and Watkins 103.
  10. I agree. After what the NBA owners did to Buffalo and the Braves, I lost interest. Every time there is a franchise shift there are some fans that give up. I used to stay up late listening to the Sabres on one radio and the Braves on another. The Braves had avery competitive team but after selling off the players and moving the team, it was later revealed that the NBA owners had plotted to move the team to San Diego. If I watch basketball it is the NCAA tournament.
  11. I heard Columbus got hit pretty good. It is rare to get a good size of snow down there. It is too bad that the Columbus Dispatch doesn't allow nonsubscribers to access their web site.
  12. I know that when after typing in expletives and then posting them, most are converted to asterisks and dollar signs. But why does Rosen show up. In a post about Lost I used the word c-r-a-s-h but when I previewed the post c-r-a-s-h (without the dashes) showed up as Rosen. Somebody can explain? As for stevestojan well, no questions there...
  13. Paul Maguire toned down his pro Bills rhetoric over the years. The networks get complaints when their personnel come off as homers. Remember Todd Christensen and his coverage of Raiders games. One time TC was calling a game with Charlie Jones when a crucial call went aginst the Raiders. Christensen was very upset and Jones called him on it and TC admitted that he was rooting for the Raiders. Being that there are so many people who hate the Raiders anyways, NBC must have gotten deluged with complaints. Not too long after there was no more TC on network football telecasts.
  14. Ed Kilgore
  15. The Bills could Trade Travis for a late first rounder and then draft Ted, errr, Mike. Or... They could draft a serious pass rusher or a top notch offensive lineman which are greater needs. But don't put it past MM to make a run at Nugent.
  16. I believe it was a 767: http://www.aircraft-charter-world.com/airliners/b767.htm http://www.seatguru.com/sitemap.html At some point, in a recent episode, it was mentioned that there were about 40 or so passengers on the flight log who were still alive. So far there have been roughly about 14 survivors with regular roles. What about the rest? Expect some more of them to show up to further complicate the plot. I am looking forward to further encounters with the French woman. She can answer a lot of questions but it is smart to let her story evolve slowly. http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/bios/index.html I enjoy the show but I would expect greater display of trauma and fear in a real accident. And after knowing there was one polar bear on the island, I would expect people to be much more hesitant about wandering around the island out of concern that there are more. One thing that I really liked was the music, especially when used to crank up the drama. Also the special effects were well done, especially in the plane cracking in air and the guy getting sucked into the engine. As Locke was trying to explain the white and black components of the beads to Walt, it revealed symbolically that everybody has two dimensions to their character, ex: good and bad. When is Locke going to get evil? There is more to Sun. Expect some of the female characters to start getting creepy as for the most part they have been rather tame (other then the French woman). And expect something bizarre with Claire's kid (the devil-baby?).
  17. Lou Piccone. The Bills would cut him, resign him, cut him again, resign him again... I used to see him at the old Mulligans on Hertel Avenue...
  18. I agree. With a volume of 107 million there is no one answer to why it is doing what it is doing. Some people are waiting for it to go up again so they can sell. Meanwhile, some are buying and holding for the long term. Invest smart and gamble a little less and yes, hopefully we avoid the ulcers!
  19. Cinci should stall as long as legally allowed. However, this team should not be taken lightly, as the Bengals like the Bills, are a team that is getting better.
  20. Give them back to Montreal and commit to helping the franchise marketable once again. If the Oakland A's can be competitive most years so is it possible that the Expos can succeed also. MLB deserved this disaster for the labor mess it's fans had to deal with over the last couple of decades.
  21. Keep Rivers and at least pretend to sign Brees to a short term contract. If a deal comes up that they like then trade either of the two. However, when considering proven ability, it is probably better to trade Brees for future picks but not necessarily a immediate first rounder. Anybody who saw the Chargers over the last few years should have known that their main problem (like the Bills) was with their offensive line not their quarterback. A big difference for the Chargers offensive success has been their two rookie offensive lineman: http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/charg...15chargers.html
  22. Autodriveaway: http://www.autodriveaway.com/ I have never tried this mode of transport myself but I know of some friends who did. The idea is that you are driving another person's car to their desired destination. Listen to the others, fly if you can...
  23. look near the top of the page where it says logged in as... click on your name which takes you to your profile... go to the bottom of the page and click on avatar options... the rest is self explanatory (hopefully)...
  24. Night games at the Rockpile! "And after the game...stroll through the Fruit Belt!" How about Ken Lee (who I believe played defense)?
  25. Thailog80, I was just going to nominate your "candidate"! Nice. Very nice! Silicone works!
