  1. Give the current 8-16 year olds about five years and they will discover that Ashlee Reflux has no talent, become embarrassed about having listened to and loved her jibberish and deny ever having been devoted to her. Ashley Reflux can then go back to the couch and remember the good ol' days.
  2. Sounds like Tagalog!
  3. Don't get me wrong. I like McGahee. I like his confidence and I understand how cockiness/confidence contributes to athletes doing the unbelievable. But I have to wonder what some hall of famers might say of his comments. Article from Jim Trotter fo the San Diego Tribune: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20...s28jtrottr.html
  4. Where do you find this? How did you find this? Too funny! I don't know how much French you are comfortable with but here are two sites for French short films, one from France and the other from Quebec: http://www.cine-courts.com/cine4/UTILISATE...OTO=MAIN&PAGE=2 http://www.silenceoncourt.tv/
  5. Interesting post. I have read the same information as to who sold the slaves. If I remember correctly, most of the slaves were taken by the Portuguese to what is now known as Brazil. Jimmy the Greek got railed for expressing the selective breeding theory. I suspect such practices are still going on somewhere in our world. From what I have read, the theory has merit. It is a sad part of history but one that should not be swept under the rug.
  6. Progress! Labatts takes some searching in SoCal. Usually it is Molson Canadian and Moosehead. They used to have large cans of Labatts available like the Fosters version that were perfect for the beach. However, I think I was the only one buying them so they are no longer available. Now if they could get us some Brador (with the potency of the Canadian side of the border) that would be even nicer! Does anybody know if they sell Labatts Wildcat in the Buffalo area? I drank some Wildcat when up in Quebec. It had a variety of potencies from I believe 7 - 10 %. It gives one a smacking. I might be up in L.A. this weekend for the SC game, I may try Big Wangs. Thanks for the tip and nice work getting the Labatts on the menu!
  7. Dr Fong, you are correct. I am speculating as to Mr Echo's origins. If he has a Nigerian accent (which I am not even sure that he does) it is possible that he may be of Nigerian origin on the show. The actor's biography does indicate that he did spend some of his childhood in Nigeria. Accents are quite interesting especially when it comes to actors. Often times I take an actor's accent as is, even though many actors train themselves to speak a variety of accents. I used to collaborate with short film projects and it was amazing to see the actor resumes and all the accents they professed to master. For all I know, in real life Mr Echo could speak with a WNY accent!
  8. The glove didn't fit because it shrunk. If you have lived in a northern climate, wore gloves, played in the snow etc., you might know that once gloves get wet they shrink. And if you ever had blood on your your shirt from an injury such as a bloody nose you might have noticed how the blood blotch shrivels up the material. Leave a bloody glove on the ground in a hot climate and it shrinks. A sad and gullible jury believed what they wanted to believe. When O.J. was categorized as a fugitive before the infamous White Bronco chase I felt a sickness in my stomach like someone close to me had died. Say it isn't so O.J. I too wish it wasn't true. But in my view the evidence of O. J. being guilty was enormous. I didn't have to be there. By that logic most everybody accused of a crime is innocent because we weren't there to witness it. Sorry folks but to see it otherwise is simply denial. And for the people who still wear his jersey for whatever reason and ask him for autographs, you should be embarrassed and ashamed. There are more admirable people in our world and our history. We are not without heroes. O.J. is simply no longer somebody to be admired. I wish I could still be proud of O.J. but I cannot. He let us down. His accomplishments on the field do not cover up what he did. From the stalking to the intimidation and beyond I cannot forgive and forget. My friends and I used to chase after O.J. on Hertel Ave. outside of Mulligans trying to get his autograph with no luck. We could see him through the window dining with his first wife. O.J. was so revered in Buffalo, L.A., San Francisco and beyond. He came from a very poor background to a point of great success. O.J. blew it. No one else can be blamed. He couldn't walk away from a bad situation. And the answer to whether I would say hello to him or welcome him to my community? I would not. Here is a link to an old interview but one that really brings to the surface the magnitude and aftermath of the crimes. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5190358/
  9. Okay, I didn't want open a new can of worms but... Don't all those kickers look the same? Or is it their helmets?
  10. It is important to hear that the team hasn't given up. It is especially refreshing to hear that they haven't given up on J.P.
  11. Cassidy's had the wheel with the accompanying chant of "Freddies Special". You could order a mixed drink in a pitcher form for I believe it was $3.50. Quite a few fights in and around there (Birthday Party). They may have something to do with why the place was burned down? Regan's near Buff St. always had some pretty ladies. The Locker Room is no more? Too bad. Tuesday nights were known as Nurses Night. No Names is / was at Elmwood and Bidwell. They had free chicken wings for happy hour. In rowdier days my friends and I used to climb on top of Mulligans on Hertel and fire snowballs at the unsuspecting down below. No one ever figured out where we were. Delaware Park was cool for marching in with cases of Canadian beer and tieing one. Hard cider was quite the medicine also.
  12. Ahhhh, what the hay, your forgiven...
  13. Jokeman and UConn thanks for the clarifications! I had confused Rose with Johanna. I guess Rose disappearing for so long can do that. Rose has a mystical sense about her, kind of like Locke. When I wrote about the possibility of there being any offspring I was referring to The Others as they have had some time to get busy (sixteen years?). I watched part of the season two opener last night. One thing stuck with me. It was when Desmond asked Locke "Are you him?". It reminded me of the Marathon Man film quote; "Is it safe?". I sense Desmond was waiting for his replacement which would have been identified by the correct answer to the code question. So it is probable, that some character will show up in the future who will be able to finish the question with the correct answer. Or could it be a doctor with vaccinations? Desmond must return. I can just see Desmond busting Hurley with an Apollo bar: "Drop the chocolate, brother". And Hurley responding dutifully with "Dude", then finishing the chocolate! "Hey, Brooklyn, shut the !@#$ up already. B word." Someone is going to punk Ana Lucia. Hurley or Charlie would be less obvious but effective candidates. Maybe, Ana Lucia starts reciting the 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 sequence upon which Hurley just steamrolls her. Charlie has it in him. Remember how he got in Rousseau's face after they caught her with Claire's baby (Erin?). What did he call her? A nut job? I miss Rousseau, she always adds great drama.
  14. Intoxication and belligerence is a global phenomenon. Even in Canada! As for Poutine, I have seen it offered at various fast food restaurants in Montreal. This summer I was going to try it. I went into a place called Belle Province on St Laurent Street and waited at the counter, and waited, and lost patience and courage, so I walked out. I ended up eating pizza which is very good in Montreal. Some of the locals say poutine is good depending on where you go. Others say stay away! Come to think of it, you were in a Burger King so you may have been better off with the poutine. Then again there is Tim Hortons... Donuts...!
  15. There may be some merit to this approach especially when considering that many slaves died between Africa and the Americas. The conditions on the slave ships were inhumane, unsanitary and breeding grounds for disease. Some of the survivors had incredible immunities. And when considering that many of the Spanish and Portuguese died after coming to the Americas post 1492, we can assume that we all don't have the same immunities and we may have other differences that give us advantages in how we perform in sports. As for the coach and his comments, genetic differences do exist between individuals, races, genders, etc. I assume he was speaking of his personal experience with athletes. My experience with sports from grammar school through college is that the fastest of the fast were of African descent. Heavyweights and flyweights have different advantages in how they box. Taller people have different advantages than smaller people in volleyball. We are not all built the same. Once again, within races and between races differences in how we are built do exist. Why is it that men and women excel at different types of gymnastics? Because men and women are built differently. And men on the high beam poses some additional form of risk...? Isn't it a natural probability that differences occur between races? Of course. I really believe that political correctness gets in the way of real solutions to real problems such as illiteracy and poverty. Rather than sweeping the comments under the rug, the debate is healthy. For too long, differences in how the races were treated went unquestioned and we should know how unhealthy that has been for all of us. We are supposed to have some sort of freedom to speak? So speak, and write.
  16. Wow!!! Makes me forget about the Bills porous run defense! Remember her in American Pie? Niceness...
  17. Try to imagine yourself in her situation on that bus. She had incredible courage.
  18. Don't be surprised that with all the other (dare I say that word) newcomers there may also be children. I mean doesn't anybody "go" a little? No tv, no internet, no rescue, opportunity calls... I realize Lost is now in an earlier time slot but come on. I am interested to see the interaction between the original group of survivors and the second crop. Someone is going to test Ana Lucia's b.s. How will Sayid and the Doc clash or collaborate with Ana? Would Ana Lucia have the audacity to hit someone like the Doc, Sayid, Locke or God forbid, Hugo? She will divide the original group. Who will she bond with? Locke, because possibly he will take over the hatch? How will the newcomers take to Locke? And Desmond will reappear won't he? He has too much information. He must be found. And Danielle? She is wack but she knows a lot. As for Sawyer, he was shot and will most likely need medical care. I wonder how Claire's baby will take to the island without any vaccinations. Speaking of Claire, her story has been rather vacant since having the baby. Maybe a return to her back story? Also expect some back story for some of the new characters. And is Charlie jacked yet from the statue goo? Who will Shannon blackmail next? She will lose interest in Sayid and probably go for the Doc. And where there is one polar bear isn't there at least one more? And who is responsible for all the Apollo bars etc.? There is an external party that is bound to blend into the story (government, military, corporation, scientists). I sense that somebody has been able to get onto the island on a fairly regular basis. I am not so sure there were eight of "the others". It seemed like four and they showed them walking by at two different points. And why can't "the others" be split up as well? And how did those from the second group die / get killed? No cannibals among the insane? Now someone fill me in as to Rose. I have watched most episodes but somewhere I missed Rose's dealio. I thought she drowned? But obviously not. So who did or what happened? Please fill me in. Thanks. I am offering many more questions than theories but the possibilities are endless...
  19. The actor who plays Mr Echo (A A-A) split his childhood in the UK and Nigeria.
  20. The Steelers do win a lot don't they? http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5009738
  21. One of my favorite things to do is to go up to the City Hall observation deck. It is a wonderful view. http://www.walkbuffalo.org/HTML/city_hall.html
  22. Haven't a lot of bands bypassed Buffalo instead going to bigger cities? I have noticed on a number of concert t-shirts that Buffalo doesn't seem to be included.
  23. To be a straw...
