Keep showing up and making your voices heard. There are people who listen. The NFL blundered with Cleveland. That should not have happened but it did. The Browns have great fans. As with the Sabres during their dive of a couple of weeks ago, it is important to show up and even more important to let your sentiments be known. As evidenced by this past Sunday, the Bills fans travel very well. NFL execs cannot miss this fact. A franchise like San Diego is dependent on opposing teams traveling well especially when the Chargers have their down years. One of the Bills greatest strengths is it's fans.

SD UT columnist Jerry Magee has been around a while. He has actually written some flattering articles about the Bills in the past. He has also had some interesting takes of the old AFL. Every team has it's peaks and valleys. I just thought that last year was the beginning of an ascent not a mini-peak. I saw some people still wearing their Bills hats around San Diego over the last two days! I raise my glass to the die hards! The article (November 21, 2005): http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20..._1s21bills.html

The Chargers averaged 9.9 yards per completion. Drew Brees went 28 of 33. The Chargers punted one time. Time of possession: Chargers: 37:30 Bills: 22:30 Just wait until the posts start flowing in from those who went to the debacle. Just wait until Jerry Sullivan makes his post. I am waiting to hear what the players and coaches have to say. Ug-ly.

Don't. Remember the Sunday night Patriots game from about two years ago when it was 20 -0 by the half or any of the Pats games when they just mopped Bledsoe? Worse. Don't do it. Go forward. Read about the Sabres. Or read up on next April's draft prospects. Rent Shrek. Read War and Peace. Color. Clean the bathroom. Do the laundry. Shut off everything electronic (phone, tv, radio, etc.), put ear plugs in and bury yourself under the covers. If you have access to a punching bag, put it on standby....

How Can Anyone Not be Embarrassed?
Spun replied to Formerly Allan in MD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not embarrassed even though I sat throw this crapola of a performance until the bitter end. I am very angry. I just wonder if every Bill and Bills coach can say the same. -
I thought JP did well considering the poor protection, the dismal play calling and yes, the Chargers. They should have just let JP line up in the shotgun like Daryle Lamonica and throw long bombs. If he connected on one or two, I think it could have caused the Chargers defensive backs to panic a bit and cause some interference penalties. JP fought until the end. Kelly would be proud.

Anyone think Mr. Wislon is the problem?
Spun replied to jc707270's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't recommend firings at this point but I do expect some coaches to be replaced. What I want is attention given to building an adequate offensive and defensive line before the skill players jump ship. Some of the play calling really has to raise eyebrows. The bottom line today was that the Bills did not match up well with the Chargers on paper and on the field. The Chargers are strong where the Bills are weak. -
The Bills defense looked s...l...o...w... I saw kids in the Qualcomm parking lot making better catches than the Bills. No lie. And even some of the women were firing passes... My kind of women...

We could say it was because of the Chargers special teams. I will say Parrish is a reason for optimism. Even Charger fans were impressed,

Texas and Penn St do deserve their props. USC lingers so Texas has something to look forward to. And yes, the sun shines brighter and the java tastes oh (io) so fine... You probably can't understand it in Texas and PA. but when winning this game life seems sweeter. Lloyd Carr = John Cooper Carmen Ohio: http://users.frii.com/~nmetro/osu/songs/carmen_ohio.html

Bright side... ... ... ... Sabres have won three in a row!

I may be wrong but I heard that Wilson was at the game today. In fact, Lance Alworth made reference to Ralph in the halftime ceremony that retired Alworth's #19. Ralph is the reason for some of past changes. After today's stinker, I expect Ralph will insist on a few more changes. Between that cannon repeatedly going off at Qualcomm Stadium and the way the Bills played, there is a lingering stench hovering over San Diego's Mission Valley. 48-10. Absolutely unacceptable. TD gambled on not building sufficient lines and he failed. Lining Losman up at center with a Charger defensive line running wind sprints through the Bills "blockers" was all too similar to similar results with Bledsoe. Who was calling this mess? Change is on the horizon if Ralph has anything to do with it.

Some ideas on those of you who will be convening in San Diego this weekend... Bars: Pacific Beach (PB) - Lahaina's (right at the beach) Moondoggies, PB Bar and Grill (Garnet Ave, a few blocks from the beach, relatively cheap and lovely, young ladies). Blind Melons (also Garnet, Bills Club HQ, blues bar) Downtown Gaslamp District: Fifth Ave.: Take your pick. Much pricier, more formal. Bitter End can be fun. Beaches: Pacific Beach/Mission Beach Ocean Beach Coronado La Jolla Shores/La Jolla Cove Interesting Sites: Cabrillo Monument: http://www.nps.gov/cabr/ Mt Soledad: http://www.sandiego.com/virtualviews-1.jsp La Jolla Cove Internet: Wired on Hornblend St in Pacific beach one Block south of Garnet Ave. Also Pacific Beach Library on Cass St and Thomas. Note the San Diego libraries have free internet access. Family Stuff: San Diego Zoo http://www.sandiegozoo.org/ SeaWorld http://www.seaworld.com/seaworld/ca/ The beaches (drunk people inhabit Pacific and Mission Beaches so either Coronado, North PB -still some drunks and La Jolla Cove are great for kids... Pizza: Very limited. Bronx Pizza on Washington St is pretty good. Chicken Wings: Fahgettaboutit... Interesting Museums: Balboa Park. One in particular is the San Diego Hall of Champions: http://www.sdhoc.com/main/about_us/faqs/ The Hall of Champions has one free day each month. It is the fourth Tuesday of the month which happens to be November 22nd, two days after the Bills and Chargers meet. Tijuana: Be careful, stay together, avoid going alone, don't drink too much, get out as quick as you can. Do not j-walk as the TJ cops take this as an opportunity to extort. They stand in the shadows, usually wear dark blue wind breakers and they come out of no where. They ask for $100 on the spot or offer $1000 at the "Policia" station. They will ask for atm cards and for you to use a cell phone to call for more money. The stories get worse. I am not joking. If you go during the day (there is one Bills fan leading a tour) things should be cool. Nights are different. Many of the Mexican people are very cool, just trying to get ahead like the rest of us. Have fun don't drink and drive and all that. Bills get it done. Welcome to San Diego.

Ralph Hubbell: Ralph Hubbell passed away September 14, 2000. He used to live on Huntington Avenue in North Buffalo. He used to do work for the Buffalo Braves among many other things. When I was kid I used to have to sell pizzas for Cub Scouts and Ralph's house was about four blocks away. He used to always buy pizzas from me and he always took time to answer this sports fanatic's numerous questions. I remember one time he was standing outside on his front porch and we talked Bills, Braves and Sabres. It was cold out and he didn't have a jacket but he loved talking sports. http://www.buffalosportshallfame.com/1991/ralph_hubbell.html http://www.billdulmage.com/skeds/buffalo/wben.html Ralph also wrote a book about Buffalo sports titled "Come Walk With Me". He was a great writer and a gentleman.

A Football Question. Did we make the right QB move
Spun replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. When I speak of protection I mean sufficiently beyond the bare minimum of protection. Too often opposing defenses have been in the Bills backfield way too much and way too quickly. That kind of protection is usually the type that would make snaps from center (especially when without any running backs) unwise (shotgun). With adequate protection, a quarterback with great passing (and running - not applicable with Bledsoe) skills can light up the field. Bledsoe does have a great arm, fairly good accuracy but pathetic foot skills. All that is old news. I do wonder how JPL would progress it he had a couple of stud offensive linemen in front of him. A mobile qb with time to look for open receivers. Could happen! -
Meazza, where do you watch the games in Montreal? When I have been in Montreal, Champs on St. Laurent has been very reliable for watching most any NFL game. Who will win the Grey Cup? BC is showing some cracks.

70's. If you are in Buffalo, you can access the Buffalo News (Buffalo Evening News) with microfilm at the downtown library.

A Football Question. Did we make the right QB move
Spun replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that lead as in feet? Fake-Fat Sunny is our resident scribe. The keyboard gets a workout. Want a thesis dial up Fake-Fat Sunny! I do wonder Fake-Fat Sunny, is it coffee or Red Bull or both? I did read through the analysis and much of it makes sense. I do wonder how the results of the poll would change one year from now or even a week from now, depending on the outcome in San Diego? Bledsoe is different with protection. How different will JPL be with the confidence of knowing he isn't in danger of having his head battered around every other play? I hope JPL gets to experience protection before being cast off like so many other Bills quarterbacks from the past. As for me, coffee and Red Bull...
