  1. Finally! That dang Peter Pan individual has found "it's" calling!
  2. The one with the beach ball is the best! The one with the golf clubs is second! Nice work...
  3. Would you describe this article as an accurate assessment? I would think that there would be less fuss about the champagne if it wasn't so hard to get a job? I have been told stories about how getting employed in the French film industry is even harder then gaining employment in the U.S. film industry. Is the youth employment situation mostly because of the "sluggish economy" or is there some other significant cause(s) that that the article neglects to mention?
  4. The team has slumped and Miller has slumped after excelling much of the season. Maybe keeping Biron wasn't such a bad idea. Give Miller a spell to reenergize and play the hot goalie. NHL playoff history is filled with stories of teams with torrid goaltending lifting teams beyond expectations (ex: Hasek in 1999). Even though the Sabres have been trounced in the season series against Ottawa, a second win against the Sen's can help shake the slump and get the confidence back. Every game will be a battle from this point on. Every one of the remaining opponents is either in the playoffs or still in contention for one of the remaining spots. The Sabres still have something to prove in the two upcoming road games against the Senators and the Hurricanes. Beating Philly is always nice. The Canadians have played the Sabres tough. And one more win against the Maple Leafs would boost once more what is becoming one of the league's more intense rivalries. And what was the NHL thinking when they put the Sabres and Maple Leafs in different divisions way back when? You know it is a good night when even the goalie (Biron) even gets an assist! http://www.nhl.com/scores/recaps/1125_2_recap.html "The 100 points and 47 victories are the most the Sabres have managed since the 1983-84 season when they had 48 wins and 103 points. Ruff became the 31st NHL coach to win 300 games and the 16th to do so with the same team".
  5. People who leave their empty fast food containers anywhere they please. Especially the ignorant idiots who put their cup on the top of a garbage pail but can't muster the energy to put it into the pail. A wrestling like head slam into the turnbuckle would be in order. People in front of the line to the bar who only start thinking about what they want once it is finally their turn to order. Yo dumb arse what do you need a day planner? Another bar scenario where Joe Armpit gets off the dance floor, takes a wad of napkins to facial his sweat brow and then just tosses the napkins on the bar like anybody would want to touch, smell or see it. Yo Armpit, no drinks for you. Pickup drivers who leave their garbage in the bed only to have it blow all over the freeway once they get to a high speed. Individuals who sit on the can while talking on the cell phone. Whaaaatt? Play by play? 9-5 people speaking at voice levels that are better suited for much later than 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Bow and arrow or machete?
  6. A ballistic Lindy Ruff might be a good thing right as the Sabres play Ottawa (again).
  7. Thanks for the recommendation! Here are some links to the film: http://news.google.com/news?q=joyeux+noel+...tab=nn&oi=newsr
  8. After viewing these images I think of Charlie Manson and his scribble about Helter Skelter.
  9. How many times have we witnessed the playoffs being filled with upsets? Top seeds getting wiped out in the first round and low seeds having a deep run are fairly common in the NHL playoffs. The Sabres need to shake off this slump and find a way to raise the bar against the teams that are consistently beating them: Ottawa, Carolina, New Jersey and Atlanta. The deficits in the slump are either one or two goals except for the 5-0 game against Atlanta. Get out of the slump and get ready for the new season.
  10. When did the dark colored jerseys become "home" jerseys and and the white based jerseys become the "away" jerseys? Who initiated the change and why? Was this change league mandated? I know that with football the lighter colors are preferred to help with overheating. But with hockey, was the change for fashion reasons only? Or maybe it is easier to spot your teammates with the darker jerseys clashed against the ad splattered boards?
  11. This surprises me. I thought Biron was the one to go. Biron could be starting somewhere. It amazes me that he puts up with the bench.
  12. I don't read much on this board about this show. Since it follows Lost, I figured a lot of people watched the show but apparently not as Invasion is rumored to be a candidate for cancellation. At first, the show seemed like it was trying to copy the Lost formula. However, it has a very interesting plot that I would hate to see truncated by being cancelled.
  13. I see them occasionally at night in San Diego. One time, I saw a coyote with an animal in it's jaws run in front of my car. Sometimes, the coyotes around here come out during the daytime and they get close enough to kids that parents have to pull the kids inside. Coyotes are hungry and displaced in many cases. Cats, dogs, kids are all at risk.
  14. That was a very interesting article. The first Sabres player, Joe Daley (as mentioned but also misspelled in the article) was also one of the last goalies to play without a mask. I remember them raising the Aud roof to get more seats in there. They got more seats alright but isn't that also how they got bats? Five dollars for a standing room ticket. Certain players did cast some long shadows. The first Sabres Assistant GM, Fred Hunt was my uncle.
  15. I knew that was coming! Maybe njsue can hook up with that Peter Pan whatever. She can do her homework while It flutters around the house. As for the request for a recap, Jauron is supposedly going to give Holcomb a chance at starting qb.
  16. She was born in Kingston, Ontario. http://www.nbcolympics.com/athletes/508395...=14;tab=Results
  17. Makes you look forward to the Summer Games!
  18. A classic "Me" move. It may be part of the sports' culture but in laymen's parlance the "Jacobellis" qualified as showboating and immaturity. As for the "Jacobellis" bumping Norwood's "wide right" kick down a notch or two in the "agony of defeat" category, the answer is a definite no. When snowboardcross eclipses NFL football on a mass scale then we may have something.
  19. Two recent trends are very interesting. First, how a number of conservatives (especially one's that I know) have expressed their dissatisfaction (frustration?) with Bush. Second, how some nations seem to be coming around in small ways with Bush themes of "either you are with us or you are against us" and the "Axis of Evil" consisting of Iraq, Iran and North Korea. Denmark and France seem to have a different view of late especially after the ongoing "cartoon aftermath" and the riots of last Fall in France. History can be a strange animal especially when you consider who is doing the writing. Winners and losers can have much different takes. And often times history is better evaluated over time as related events play out. However, revisionism for the sake of revisionism is rather "tabloid" especially when straying too far from the facts. Another trend in the recording of history is that which evolves after a historical figure passes away. When people die it is customary to speak of good things about the deceased. It is the same with historical figures except the magnitude of their day to day accomplishments and transgressions become magnified and minimized depending on the storyteller. Nixon comes to mind. Even today, people say that Nixon would have been viewed as a great president if he wasn't involved in Watergate. I still have trouble comprehending the Watergate breakins. Nixon won the '72 election in a landslide. Why take such a chance? Why risk losing so much?
  20. Watch enough of O'Reilly and that is exactly what you get. Show producers take the time to book whatever guest. The guest shows up. And then O'Reilly just badgers and interrupts the guest so very little insight is the result. O'Reilly is very good at what he does and he is very intelligent. It would not hurt O'Reilly to shut his mouth and listen more. Then, respond to whatever his guest had to say in whatever way he feels necessary. It isn't that hard. O'Reilly has the intellect to effectively debate many of his guests. I don't learn much from the badgering and interrupting. O'Reilly's show's could be much better. O"Reilly and Letterman aren't alone on the attack interviews. Phil Donahue used to do quite a bit of this and it too was very hard to watch.
  21. Ginger Grant and Mr. Howell.
  22. James / Sawyer seems to have the upper hand right now but in the past he has been no match for Sayid, Ana Lucia and the Others. Sawyer has a scary snarl but beyond that he has limited smarts. Sawyer will use Charlie for as much as he can as Charlie is dummer than Sawyer. Sawyer will sell Charlie out or Sun will remember something that implicates Charlie. I saw Charlie is the one who attacked Sun once Sawyer found the clothing (hood?) in the jungle. The survivors seem to have grudges but for the most part they forget grievances fairly quickly. They heal fast also. Kate is also a con who got some of her own. Kate keeps getting in the way (the Others). The survivors may break apart as some of them are unstable and liabilities to the greater group (Charlie, Kate, Claire). A Sayid and Locke pairing would be interesting as they are both very smart. The Doc keeps reacting emotionally which impairs his judgement. Ana Lucia doesn't help the Doc's reasoning. The idea of an army is a joke. They need to break up into groups of two and pick off the Others. I wonder about Michael as he seemed to be getting somewhere with Walt via the computer. Maybe Michael got some information from Walt that has yet to be revealed. I wonder what role Bernard and Rose will play in the future. I also suspect that the Others are lurking for many reasons but primarily to get more / all of the remaining arsenal. Why anyone would venture into the jungle is beyond me especially after knowing what Ana Lucia described about the disappearance of members of her group. I would expect people to be perpetually paranoid. I wonder how long until the writer's clue us in to the Others and how they got to the island and why they think it is their island.
  23. I like the idea. For many hockey players, they have a history of pond hockey. I had a rink in my back yard in Buffalo. Unfortunately, we had this huge maple tree next to the rink whose roots would move the earth / crack the ice when the wind would gust. As for Saturday, it should be a tough match. Although they are having a tough year, I hope the Buckeyes pull it off.
  24. Cable gougers lost.
