Get home quickly and get home safe. We will do what we can with the Bills while your gone. I envy your courage! You have my sincerest thanks! I pray for you all!

Of all the losses I would say I miss Mike Grier and J.P. Dumont the most. If the opponent had the puck, it was routine for Grier to be chasing them down. He has this relentless hustle that was especially useful when forechecking deep in the offensive zone. I miss J.P. on the first line and the power play. J.P. is still young and only was going to get better. However, as we know they couldn't resign them all. I think management signed who they could, especially the big names like Afinogenov and Miller. As for roster losses, Carolina lost much more than the Sabres. Which is good! The special teams have been hard to watch. Last year when the Sabres were more of a secret, they had a greater margin of error when it came to moving the puck around. That flexibility showed signs of cracking aginst Carolina in the playoffs. Teams have seen how the Sabres play from video and gametime and they have adjusted to the Sabres tendencies. The Sabres have less time than they used to for setting up and shooting. At times, the Sabres breakouts seem to be prone to a paralysis even with an even amount of skaters. However, don't doubt that the Sabres are facing most team's A-Game on most nights. Except of course that 9 -1 gem against the Flyers! Expect the injuries to continue. I am concerned about burnout. Keep Miller fresh with more Biron. Let these AHL guys get experience because come playoff time a number of them will be on the ice. As for which team is better Sabres or the Ducks, who knows? It may be that some other team is better than both. In the NHL an eight seed (Edmonton) can make it to the finals and almost win. Hot goalies and peaking chemistry on low seeds cast a shadow over slumping teams. I do not like the cost saving move of playing more divisional rivals as opposed to playing home and home matchups against all teams. Right now, the Sabres are having the most trouble with their divisional rivals having lost to Ottawa (twice), Montreal and Toronto. Atlanta concerned me last year, they are for real. A real pleasant reality check is that the season before the lockout the fans didn't even broach such issues. The bottom line is the Sabres are doing incredible. More of the same Sabres!

The mayor may still be mayor but he hasn't been seen in years. I heard he is on the hip-hop circuit posing as M-Cheese.

A scribe in a San Diego rag, Tony Phillips writes about O.J. matters and alludes to the Bills in an inaccurate manner. In 1973 the Bills were in the first of two 9 -5 seasons in a row and it took more than O.J. to accomplish this. The Electric Company comes to mind. Phillips writes of O.J.: "In 1973 he rushed for 2,003 yards in a 14-game season with the Buffalo Bills, who at the time fielded the feeblest roster in football with one notable exception". http://www.sdcitybeat.com/article.php?id=5089 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf1973.htm

Please, Authors of the Stadium Wall

Consider it a methadone for the futbol problem. -
And what people are trying to say or prove by wearing an O.J jersey is baffling. I saw one a couple of weeks ago and I thought the guy looked like a fool.

Are the Chargers stepping into a hornets nest?
Spun replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is A-train much of a receiver? Short, quick passes to A-train and Shelton could neutralize the fast forward onslaught of Merriman and company. The Bills have to take Merriman out of the game early and often. Holding the ball too long and waiting in the collapsible pocket without some sneaks and rollouts will lead to a disaster like last year's debacle. Merriman article: http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/charg...manreturns.html -
Or the "Get Bob McAdoo's number raised in HSBC Arena petition"! Although, it would be nice and justified.

Huet was / is outstanding. Miller does have a tendency to make the first move. Most of the time he gets away with it but he payed for it this time.

USC has the same dilemma. OJ's jersey and Heisman are still in the USC Hall of Champions. Simpson is recognized but the pride that once was is now only a whimper. http://usctrojans.cstv.com/trads/usc-heritage-hall.html

Are the Chargers stepping into a hornets nest?
Spun replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is what happened last year. LT ran for 67 yards on 19 carries and caught three passes for 22 yards. The Bills keyed on LT and were not able to adjust before the half. It was 35-10 at the half. Brees simply put the ball over the field and the Bills offensive line allowed six sacks. Losman struggled. It was so dreadful to watch. I am praying for a surprise in the snow belt. -
Reasons Why We Can Beat San Diego
Spun replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The tv weather reports here in SD are already talking about the Buffalo forecast for the game on Sunday. The Chargers are already thinking about it. Schott coached in Cleveland so he knows a thing or two about the climate. Schott also played for the Bills many moons ago. -
Also, look out for the Leafs. This Habs rivalry has been in Buffalo for a long time. It is good to have the Leafs and Sabres back in the same division. Pens and Whalers never really had the drama.

http://buffalonews.com/editorial/20061126/1013886.asp http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/aislin/1122.html Fans want O.J. off Wall of Fame -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Petition to remove Simpson's name from stadium sparks debate By STEPHEN T. WATSON News Staff Reporter 11/26/2006 Bill Wippert/Buffalo News O.J. Simpson's latest turn in the public eye has prompted some fans to call for the removal of his name from the Wall of Fame at Ralph Wilson Stadium. O.J. Simpson was the first Buffalo Bills player to be honored with his name inscribed on the Wall of Fame at Ralph Wilson Stadium. That was in 1980. Simpson's name has stayed on the wall for 26 years - through his 1994 murder arrest, his acquittal in a highly publicized criminal trial and the civil court conviction that followed. But reports of his widely reviled book deal and TV interview are again generating calls from fans to remove the star running back's name from the stadium wall. "When Buffalo makes the national spotlight, it's for something bad. Let's do something good for a change," said Jeff Brzyski, who started an online petition that urges the Bills to remove Simpson's name. Brzyski's petition has collected more than 1,700 signatures demanding that Simpson's name come down because its presence disgraces the city and the team. Hundreds more fans are passionately debating the topic on the official Bills Web site and other Internet forums, while local sports commentators also have taken up the issue. "He's a disgrace and a killer, and I believe he got away with murder," said Lisa Brusehaber, a receptionist from Orchard Park who signed the petition with her husband, Tom. But Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. has said he has no intention of taking Simpson's name off the wall. "We put [simpson] up there for football," Wilson told Buffalo News columnist Jerry Sullivan last week. "I feel the same way about him as you and most people do. But it's up there. Why start more controversy?" No one is disputing that Simpson's performance on the field merits a place on the wall. A fast and powerful runner, Simpson was one of the best Bills ever and one of the top running backs in league history. He was selected for the wall in 1980 by the local sports journalists who make up the Wall of Fame selection committee. But Simpson largely became a pariah after he was arrested in June 1994 and accused of killing his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. "He was one of the most-liked characters in Bills history, right up to that day," said Dan Gestwick, a vice president of the Monday Quarterback Club. In the days after Simpson's arrest, some Bills fans called for the team to take down his name from the wall, but Wilson rejected their demands. Simpson also is enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Hall officials say there is no provision for booting an inductee. Rather than lying low, Simpson has remained in the public eye. He's even attended three Bills games in the last few years. "When people saw me they were like, "Hey Juice,' " Simpson told The News in October 2004. "It was very nice, a very good feeling. Everywhere I go, the reception is great." And now Brzyski is moving ahead with his petition, located at www.petitiononline.com/thejuice/petition.html. As of Saturday afternoon, it carried 1,762 signatures. Brzyski said he set up the petition in disgust following news about the book deal for "If I Did It," with publisher HarperCollins. "He's bringing it up all over again," said Brzyski, 26, a construction project manager from the City of Tonawanda. The petition has some fake names. It's doubtful that Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban, incarcerated former Carolina Panther Rae Carruth or Simpson himself signed it. But many signers gave their own names while speaking in unvarnished terms. Signer Roger Stornelli told The News he hasn't watched a Bills game since Simpson's arrest. "I won't go to a Bills game until they take the sign down. It's sickening," said the corrections officer from Lockport. "You've got to take a stand in life, and my stand is this." A passionate debate over keeping Simpson's name on the Bills Wall of Fame has bubbled up on local TV broadcasts, on talk radio and on Internet forums. This topic drew 190 comments on the message board on the official Bills Web site alone. WGR 550 Sports Radio's Chris "Bulldog" Parker said that for years he tried to cling to the notion that the wall recognizes football achievements and has nothing to do with off-the-field actions. "It's almost uncomfortable. I got his autograph when I was 7 years old. He was my first sports hero. You don't want to think about it. You want to compartmentalize it," Parker said. Now, he said he thinks this community should make a statement that character matters more than athletic ability. But some fans believe Simpson's name should stay. "Yes, because that's for football accomplishments. It's not for what kind of man he is," said Kenneth Thrun, a Buffalo resident and Bills fan. Thrun sent Simpson a letter of support after his arrest that later was reprinted in a book. Simpson's supporters include former teammate Booker Edgerson, an Erie Community College official who keeps in touch with Simpson. "I think it should stay on there. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it. The accomplishments he had on the field [are] something you can't take away," said Edgerson, who noted Simpson was found not guilty. Wilson has given no indication he'll change his mind on Simpson any time soon. "At my age, I have more important things to worry about," Wilson, 87, told Sullivan. Bills spokesman Scott Berchtold declined to comment further, except to note that any formal effort to take a name off the wall would require entering "uncharted territory." e-mail: swatson@buffnews.com

Are the Chargers stepping into a hornets nest?
Spun replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. There is no hornet's nest. However, here is a hornet by the name of Merriman. Two wins can make one forget about our delicate offensive line. I wish I was wrong and I hope that I am wrong but the Chargers are loaded all over the field. Can the Bills stop the run? Can they stop LT? Gates? Will Rivers have an obscene amount of time to pass? Not much has changed from the last time the two teams have played. The temperature will be about sixty degrees colder than last year but the outcome should be the same. I pray for lake effect. I pray for wind. Expect the Chargers to emphasize the running game to avoid the wind. I hope Rivers folds in the cold but I don't believe that Schott will put too much pressure on Rivers to throw the ball. -
Ticket update - last three home games
Spun replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team could use some noise. They have won three of four and gave Indy a battle. They face a tough opponent with the Chargers. A loud stadium can make it a little tougher for Rivers. Are the Bills going up, down or running in place? I see improvement. Give them some support! -
Sabres power play was pathetic. Habs have improved. Teams have studied the Sabres and are improving at shutting down the offense. Losing four games to division foes hurts. Miller did let in two stoppable shots but yes, he did make some tough stops earlier in the game. How that breakaway happened in the first place is troubling. The Sabres have won a number of games this year that they probably didn't deserve to win. It works both ways. Take them one at a time boys, just don't burnout!

Depending on how close this weekend's game is, an OSU - Michigan rematch on a neutral field would be interesting. For comparison: Notre Dame vs, Penn St: 41 - 17 Ohio State vs. Penn St.: 28 - 6 Michigan vs. Penn St.: 17 - 10 Notre Dame vs. Michigan St.: 40 - 37 Ohio State vs. Michigan St.: 38 - 7 Michigan vs. Michigan St.: 31 - 13 Michigan vs. Notre Dame: 47 - 21 Florida is banged up and may struggle against FSU and Arkansas in the SEC title game. USC has games against BCS # 15 Cal, UCLA and BCS # 5 Notre Dame. Notre Dame also plays Army. USC vs. Stanford: 42 - 0 Notre Dame vs. Stanford: 31 - 10 My guess is that the pollsters do not want any rematches. It will be whoever wins out between USC (3 games) and Notre Dame (2 games) versus the OSU - Michigan winner. Old time Rose Bowl football. In Arizona.

So lemme get this straight...every time a Bills
Spun replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention, that in WTF #1 the reporter wrongfully reported that the series between the Bills and the Texans is 1-1. Actually, the Bills lead the series 2-1 having beaten the Texans in 2005 by 22-7. -
I remember this guy from the Sabres earliest days. Punch Imlach brought in players who were winners from other teams such as Duff, Tim Horton and Roger Crozier. Flashy players like Eddie Shack also helped. Congratulations Dick Duff! http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Akg4...ov=ap&type=lgns http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=28300...ge&service=page

No blasting. It makes a lot of sense. It just isn't fun to watch! Neither is losing! But it could work.
