  1. Nice work Doctor Faking! Very impressive! I will stash this thread! Now John, you can get back to Hacksaw Hamilton! Goood Night Now!
  2. I am going to check out a local Good Feet store about orthotics. I had a pair in the past but I wore them out and never bought new ones. Over the time that I injured my foot I stopped stretching. Did not stretching lead to the injury? I don't know but I am going to start some gentle stretching to see if it aids the healing. I have talked to a few runners who had doubts that the plantar fisciitis is chronic. On another topic, one asked why go to this board asking about running shoes, etc., well, by looking at how many people have TSW accounts (thousands) and all the varied backgrounds they represent, why not ask? There is a wealth of info on this wall along with some great entertainment!
  3. I never really finished this. I was in a public library with a timed computer (annoying) and have been busy of late. Anyhow, somebody had to be the sacrificial lamb in the most recent BCS Championship. For those that also would have been handled by LSU, be happy that it wasn't your team (Louisville, Rutgers). It is possible that the number one and two teams either played in the SEC Championship or within the SEC regular season. It isn't popular in BCS circles to match conference opponents again especially when ratings dictate profits and sales. But another SEC matchup may have been a better game and more reflective of a one vs. two than the LSU / OSU game. SEC football is very solid top to bottom, right now. Momentum will shift again. I can't see Notre Dame and Nebraska remaining out of the big picture for long. Michigan will regain form. Texas will reload. Miami and FSU have too much talent in FLA not to rise again. Penn St. is an enigma. I keep waiting for the Nittanys to go elite but they only seem to only go so high. As for USC, they have some choking issues over the last few years starting with the BCS loss to Texas (should have had Bush AND LenDale White in the backfield on last USC offensive play). A loss to UCLA (13 - 9 in 2006) and last years losses (Oregon and Stanford) combine to tarnish the gloss of the Trojans. Should all of that be held against the Trojans in judging their worthiness of the BCS Championship? I don't think so but I believe that it raised doubts on how good USC was last season. As for LSU, maybe they were head and shoulders above everybody. It is funny how a few days after the season is over I have had my fill of football but give it a couple of months and I am all motored up again!
  4. Cheaters, Cheaters and Chargers. All payback games.
  5. What are you doing about it? Do you wear arch supports or orthotics? I have had it for about four months and there isn't a whole lot I can do about it but wait it out. It is getting better (less pain) but I have to be on my feet to work.
  6. Or runny blue cheese.
  7. I shop www.Roadrunnersports.com which has a San Diego location so I can check out sales. I bought New Balance once and never turned back. Models 992 and 998 are pricey but sometimes you can find them on sale. I have some serious foot issues (deformed metatarsals, abnormal pronation, etc.) which require a wide shoe. They are comfortable for me but as was mentioned earlier it is smart to talk to somebody who is knowledgable about feet, running and shoes. I am currently suffering through plantar fasciitis which means I won't be running for a while.
  8. The one that I found most interesting was the one that said "Buffalonian At Work". http://www.cafepress.com/buy/buffalo/-/pv_...pt_/fpt_/c_666/
  9. Respect might include destroying the tape. Otherwise, I have to wonder why bother spending the money? More money?
  10. Painful. Bloody painful. Bossy most likely would have been lined up with Perreault as the French Connection was soon finished. The Cowboys did have a dominant offensive line. Having Moose Johnson was also a strength. Watching "highlights" of Moose clearing holes for Emmitt prior to watching more of the same against the Bills in SB 28 was chilling. The Cowboys defensive line was also very good. The Bills didn't have an answer for Charles Haley. It seems odd that a player in their prime would just walk away seemingly injury free from the NFL. It seems to happen more with running backs. The running backs know the pain they carry when they are simply walking from the living room to the kitchen. The money and notoriety may be great but the pain gets old.
  11. If you are asking me if I think or thought the Buckeyes were the second best team, the answer is no to both. I was shocked to see how all those teams ahead of the Buckeyes collapsed in the last few weeks of the season. But when these supposed deserving teams lose games to mediocre opponents, what else are the pollsters supposed to do? USC lost at home to Stanford and West Virginia lost to who was it Pitt in a game that would have guartanteed their spot in the BCS. C'mon...
  12. Yes, they lost to better teams while the rest of the country (especially USC and West Virginia) bitched and moaned while forgetting their own mishaps that led to their not playing in the BCS Championship game. Second place sucks but somebody has to be "it". The Bills and Sabres of past years would know.
  13. The Buckeyes along with Florida lost a lot of talent from last years teams. The Buckeyes most likely wouldn't have lasted long in the NCAA tourney. Playing more games in the NIT may benefit them in the long term.
  14. I would consider buying a condo to live in Buffalo on a part time basis. I would like to visit more often than I do and not stay with friends nor a hotel. But the property taxes are not conducive to this idea. Buffalo needs to create a demand for businesses and people to reside in the area. The high tax rate does not accomplish these goals. Essentially, I would be throwing money into a tax pool but seeing little or no appreciation on my "investment". I realize that any expenditure on property is a gift of sorts to the Buffalo economy but the property tax is excessive. The alternative is to have a job base that produces in tax receipts what would be lost with a lesser property tax. Or somehow create a system where there is a lesser need for such tax revenues (Police? Not a chance!)? Buffalo (and New York State) is in an economic jam. The property tax is necessary and harmful. The lower dollar has helped some in the Buffalo area but this windfall is not widespread nor will it continue long term. The Buffalo economy is kind of like the Sabres struggling to get the puck put of their own zone. I wish for better.
  15. It gets me sometimes when I think about people in our country who squander what they get in life but act like they don't. Then I think of the relentless stress the troops have day and night especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. I occasionally see military Mom's out and about with the kids trying to do their best. The families are shouldering a lot. I worry about our troops upon their return. I just hope our country takes care of them all and their families.
  16. The beach ball is the best! I took a chance on opening those links. I was afraid, very afraid, that the dang fairy was going to show up again.
  17. Firstly, after all the shots Sabres fans have taken at the Leafs and their fans the last few years, it a was relief that the Leafs did not end the Sabres chances at the playoffs. It is also nice that, while I don't think the Sabres are going to make the playoffs, neither will the Leafs. Why these two teams weren't in the same division for all those years is another wonder of the NHL Foresight Committee. Remember the link about the beach ball going in the Leafs net? Classic! As for reality, it was the Leafs, a team the Sabres needed to beat the last time they played about two weeks ago. I am afraid it is too little too late. There were times (again) last night when the Sabres looked like they were killing a penalty but they weren't killing a penalty. The Sabres struggled to get the puck past their blue line. I don't fault Miller for much of what happened last night, other than the embarrassing goal in the shootout. The wrap-around goal was poorly defensed. I thought Miller excelled in the shootout. As each team went down their list of shooters they became more reluctant to deke instead opting for direct shots. Afinogenov played to his strengths, skating and stickhandling. And then... yes, finishing! The bottom line is that the Sabres battled back when they could have quit. I wish the Swords did that earlier in the season. If the season is doomed let this comeback help build for next year. But I demand and expect solid efforts in the last two games. This team lost some key players but they should have done better than this. The Sabres should dedicate some of their offseason to improving their shootout productivity. I will give credit to the Leafs goalie Raycroft, who made some very good stops (38 - 41). By the way, three former Sabres (Grier, Brown and Campbell) scored last night in San Jose's 5-2 win over the Kings. It is great news to hear that Teppo Numminem has been cleared to play. A kid on my high school team was diagnosed with a murmur and his career was immediately done.
  18. April Fools?
  19. It is the inadequate defensive play by both the defensemen and forwards that has really hurt the playoff pursuit. The odd-man rushes have become an epidemic of sorts. The late game collapses (most recently Ottawa and Montreal) and the shootout incompetence has really hurt the team. The defense also struggled last year. A study of the Anaheim model may help as they have a fairly complete team when it somes to forwards who play defense and defensemen who can rush. The Sabres have been picked apart just as Carolina was immediately after they won the cup. I suppose the bottom line is that if the Sabres can't even beat the teams in it's own division (especially Toronto) when they really need to win, do they deserve to be in the playoffs where they would get smoked anyways? I believe there will be salary purge. Can we say rebuilding mode? Sounds like the Bills. Can Marshawn skate?
  20. From presidential (trophy) to inconsequential. Someone must pay.
  21. There are no guarantees that Pryor will be any good. It is still Boeckman's team. It should be of more immediate interest to see how Boeckman develops with a team that lost very few players. Beanie Wells should have a pretty good year with a more balanced offense. The SC game might be a good one. As for Pryor, can he be a student under all the hype and pressure? Columbus can be a pressure cooker especially when the expectations are high. Tressel can only do so much.
  22. That is exactly the point. Rev. Sharpton has little or nothing to say about gangs which coincidentally is a scourge in some of the social and economic classes, neighborhoods and families that he purportedly represents. And nowhere in my comment did I say that Rev. Sharpton had any relationship to gangs or defended gangs. Rev. Sharpton supposedly is a leader and has credibility in some circles. Rev. Sharpton has a lot to say about a lot. Denouncing the gangster lifestyle would be nice and perhaps fruitful. That wouldn't be so stupid. That the gangster lifestyle has become so popular and widespread in this country that has so much and to say little or nothing? That is what is stupid.
  23. Anything to say Rev. Sharpton?
