  1. I don't know why everybody is so happy about this, we weren't going to get him anyway and now I'm willing to bet Fairley goes 1 or 2.
  2. Nope, he's a redshirt. With Gabbert Going pro he's probably going to leave. Kind of a shame though because Mizzou just signed Sheldon Richardson, a DT who is the number #1 rated Juco Transfer in the nation. When Sheldon originally commited to Mizzou in 2008 (before it was announced he didn't have the grades to go D-I and had to go the Juco route) he was the #1 overall ranked defensive recruit in the country. Getting to play next to Sheldon next year, Aldon could have a monster year.
  3. Well then you must not watch a lot of College Football. Brad Smith was just OK in college I guess .... Accomplishments and honors * First player in division 1-A history to pass for 8,000 yards and run for 4,000 yards in career * First player in division 1-A history to pass for 2,000 yards and run for 1,000 yards in a season twice in a career * Second player in division 1-A history to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 2,000 yards in a season * Fourth player in division 1-A history to score 200 points and pass for 200 points in a career * Sixth player in division 1-A history to pass for 200 yards and rush for 200 yards in a single game (vs. Nebraska on October 22, 2005) * Most rushing yards in division 1-A history by a freshman quarterback * Holds school record for: o career rushing yards o career total yards o most points in a game (30) and most touchdowns (5) (vs. Texas Tech on October 25, 2003) * Holds 68 different MU, Big 12 and NCAA game, season and career records (as of 12/2005) * 2006 Independence Bowl MVP * 2006 Hula Bowl MVP * 2002 1st-Team Freshman All-American by FWAA, The Sporting News, College Football News, and Rivals.com * 2002 Honorable Mention All-American by CNNSI.com, College Football News * 2002 and 2003 honorable mention All-Big 12 by AP * 2002 and 2004 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 by coaches * 2003 4th-Team All-American by College Sports Report * 2003 3rd-Team All-Big 12 by coaches * 2005 Draddy Trophy finalist * 2005 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 * 2005 Davey O'Brien Award Semi-Finalist * 2010 Pudding Pie Award
  4. I can honestly say I'd rather have Bell over Mckinne. Mckinnie got abused all of 2010.
  5. I don't think Mallet is Jamarcus Russel, i don't think any of these QBs are I was just saying if you are going to compare anybody to him it would be Mallet and that's really only from a physical standpoint. Oh and I fully admit that their is homerism, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a good prospect and the second best one IMO. And Bledsoe wasn't a bad QB but I don't want to draft a QB at #3 who is going to turn out to be mediocre. In fact I don't even want to draft Gabbert or any QB, I want Nick Fairley! I was just saying that after Luck, I think he is the second best option at QB.
  6. How is Gabbert the white jamarcus russel? I think that sounds more like Mallet. Mallet has the biggest arm in the draft although Gabbert isn't far behind but its Mallet who tries to throw the ball as hard as he can on every throw....that sounds like Jamarcus. Also Mallet is just as big as Jamarcus and just as slow while Gabbert can make plays with his feet and will run somewhere in the 4.5 range at the combine. Not to mention the thing that made Jamarcus Russell the player he was was the fact he had the intelligence of bag of rocks and the motivation of stoner. I've def changed my mind after this year but....Luck is by far the best QB in this draft but Blaine Gabbert is the clear cut number 2. Newton is a project, Mallet is Drew Bledsoe v2.0 and Locker is just garbage.
  7. I don't know man, its just my opionion but I'm not a huge fan of that draft nor do I think it would even be possible. 3. Luke Stocker will be around in the 5th if not the 7th 4. If Reif declares (he's a redshirt So) he might be the most talented lineman in a really crappy class. He wouldn't make it past Rd 2 if not Rd 1. 4. Don'ta Hightower is not a bad pick in that spot. 5. Phil Taylor is just fat. Terrence Cody v2.0. 6. John Moffit will be long gone by the end of Rd4 if not Rd 2 or 3. I love the pick just don't think he'll be there. 7. Vince Brown isn't going to declare a year early if he's being told he's a day 3 pick, especially if he's going in Rd 7. He'll go back for his senior year.
  8. I agree with you about OLB, however we did just re-sign Merriman but he is a big ?....the guy hasn't really seen any snaps in the last two years. Hell in 3 out of the last 4 years he hasn't played more than 3 games. I think Aldon Smith can play the same role however, its not like Merriman was much more than a pass rusher but he was a dominant one in his first three years. As far as OT's go, I hate this year's class and I feel if you don't address OT in Rd 1 or 2 the guys who will be around in Rds 3-4 aren't going to be much better than the guys who go in 6-7 (just my opinion though). This team is going to need a CB if we lose Florence. I don't like the idea of drafting a CB any more than most Bills fans but depending on the offseason it could def. become a need. Just like OT, I think this years TE class is pretty weak and that's why I didn't pick one really that high, I don't think the value will be there in the middle rounds when you can probably get a comparable player in Rd 6-7.
  9. 1. Nick Fairley DT Auburn Fairley is a freaking beast. If you've watched Auburn at all this year you know what I'm talking about. The guy is great against the run (he has literally body slammed some RBs this year) but can also get to the QB with either his brute strength or an assortment of pass rush moves. He could play 3-4 DE and move inside and play DT next to KW in our 4 man fronts (I'm assuming we will be running our hybrid 3-4/4-3 next year). Nobody is a sure thing but this guy seems pretty close. On the downside he does lose his cool sometimes and a lot of people consider him a dirty player. I think he would bring some much needed attitude and skill to our defensive front. 2. Aldon Smith DE Mizzou Yeah this is a homer pick but its a legit one. Word around Columbia, MO is Aldon Smith will be declaring for the 2011 draft. This guy is a freak, he's a poor man's Bowers as he isn't quite as stout against the run but is every bit of the pass rusher Bowers is (thats right I just said that). Again, I'm assuming we are going to continue to run a hybrid defense and he would add some much needed pass rush in passing situations. Aldon was slowed this year by fracturing his tibia but came back after three games and is now 100% healthy. If he were to stay in school he could potentially be a top 10 pick in 2012. Even so its very possible after the combine he'll vault into the second half of the first round but for now I think there is a chance he'll be around in the second and could be a huge pick for the Bills. Here is what draftcountdown.com's Scott Wright wrote about Smith: 3. Colin McCarthy ILB Miami McCarthy is a tackling machine who is very stout in the Middle and plays with great instincts. He's not a great athlete but he should be one of the safer picks at LB in this years draft. The guy makes up for a lot of his athletic short-comings with his great instincts. Kind of reminds me of Brandon Spikes who the Pats drafted last year. 4. Rashad Carmichael CB Va Tech Super Athletic corner with great ball skills. Can lose focus at times. 4. John Moffit OG Wisc Big Strong Guard who has had a great year blocking for Wisconsin's potent rushing attack. Could possibly move outside to RT but will more than likely compete for the RG spot or at worst provide great depth to line. 5. Roy Helu RB Neb Tough Runner with good power and burst. Doesn't have elite speed but would be good insurance policy if something were to happen to Fred. 6.Chris Hairston OT Clemson Athletic enough to play either Tackle position. Probably better suited for RT, has had some knee problems. 7. Andre Smith TE Va Tech Good Blocking TE with some athletic ability. Flame Away!
  10. I say more like Drew Bledsoe v2.0. Giant arm, moves like a tree.
  11. Honestly, I'm not really for drafting a QB in RD 1 or 2 but if we do I hope its Luck, Newton, or Gabbert. After watching Fitz make a lot of plays with his legs this year it made me realize how important it is to have a QB who moves well in the pocket and can make plays with his legs in a pinch. Mallet is just too big and slow in my opinion to avoid the sack. This guy is Bledsoe version 2.0. No thanks.
  12. Well then he must have taken lessons from David Blaine on how to levitate before the 2009 combine. He measured exactly 6ft tall with no shoes on in front of about 200 NFL scouts and personnel members. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/chase-daniel?id=81284 http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=56835&draftyear=2009&genpos=QB
  13. Umm, Chase Daniel hasn't even had a chance to prove himself in the Pros yet...the guy backs up Drew Brees for god's sake. I think he'll eventually start somewhere. I think he's in a great situation learning from Brees, and although he's short he does have a good arm (its not Elway-like but its above average). Just my two cents though. Hell the one time he got any work against a number one defense was this preseason when he played a whole quarter against the Texans' starters and all he did was throw 3 TDs in one quarter.
  14. What about Jimmy Clausen and Aaron Rogers? One made it way into Rd 2, the other came damn close. Both were considered top 10 picks at this point in the year with one (Rogers) considered by many to be the consensus number 1 pick. They both entered the draft as juniors and also must have received 1st round feedback in order to leave early. Not saying I don't agree with you that he'll probably be gone, but its still early and crazier stuff has happened.
  15. Think he could use another year to get better but oh well....might be worth a look in round 2 if he's there. Linky
  16. Thanks fellas, just won myself $20.
  17. I'm trying to settle an argument here.....If you were asking the question would you say: "Important to who?" "Important to whom?" And why?
  18. I'm not saying he's not a bust, but he has 4 pics in 31 games not 2.
  19. He won't be a difference maker with the pass rush we have (or lack there of). I'll take a corner in free agency or the mid rounds but we need D-Lineman and Linebackers more IMO.
  20. Well Gabbert is making me eat my words. Thats kind of his problem though, he has games where he looks awesome and then a few forgettable ones. I think another year would do him a lot of good.
  21. I Don't think Gabbert or Smith will declare this year but it remains possible..... FOR MIZZOU: Blaine Gabbert 6ft 5in 240lbs Junior Ok so a lot of people here know that I'm probably the biggest homer on the board when it comes to my Mizzou Tigers but even I am not sold on Gabbert as an elite QB. He might have the best physical tools in all of the draft but he's got a case of the "happy feet" and doesn't step up in the pocket and set his feet when he throws. The guy is almost as big as Mallet, has a cannon for an arm, and can run like Locker but for whatever reason has never seemed to be able to put it all together. He reminds me of a bigger version of JP Losman with less accuracy on the deep ball . Even as a huge Mizzou fan, I'm really weary of Blaine Gabbert being a quality NFL QB. I hope he proves me wrong but I hope the Bills avoid him if they decide to go for a QB (if he even declares). Aldon Smith DE 6ft 6in 260lbs Redshirt Sophmore Aldon is a beast. This is the best NFL prospect to ever come out of Mizzou IMO. His production is down a little this year but its more than understandable because he fractured his fibia and missed 3 games this year. If he declares, he is the best pass rushing DE in the draft. A lot of scouts say he is undersized but he def. has room to bulk up his long frame. He played at around 225-235 as a redshirt freshman but bulked up to 260lbs this past year. From nflmocks.com: Pros: Aldon Smith burst onto the scene last season as one of the top pass rushers in College Football. His 19 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks were truly remarkable. Smith has an excellent burst off the line of scrimmage and using good snap recognition to get a jump on most plays. This jump allows him to catch a lot of offensive linemen off guard as he flies past them into the backfield. Smith has freakishly long arms which allow him to keep himself free from blocks and unleash his devastating swim move. He also utilizes his size and long arms to bat down attempted passes. The attribute that stands out the most is his high motor. Smith is always going 100% and that allows him to exploit some lazy offensive linemen. Watch the attached video and you will see the talent and potential Smith has as a pass rusher. Cons: Right now it seems that Smith is getting by on pure athleticism, his swim move, and high motor. He needs to continue to develop different pass rush moves as offenses figure out how to limit the effectiveness of his swim move. The biggest concern when you talk about Smith projecting to the NFL is his strength and bulk. He is going to be stuck with the tweener label because he doesn’t have enough bulk to stand up against the bigger offensive linemen. At 260lbs teams will likely be asking Smith to convert to outside linebacker and mainly for the 3-4 defensive scheme. This is going to be a transition for Smith as he hasn’t been asked to drop into coverage while at Missouri. When I look at Smith I quickly compare him to the Bills Aaron Maybin. Was in a similar situation as Smith in that he burst onto the scene as an undersized defensive end. Last season he struggled and is now being asked to convert to outside linebacker. The top reason for the conversion for Smith will be because of questions surrounding his ability to stuff the run. I think that being in the Big 12 hurts his stock a little because the majority of the teams do not employ a power run attack so he wont be able to prove the doubter wrong. The spread offenses allow him to pin his ears back and focus on getting into the backfield. Here's another article on Aldon that was written going into this season: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Coming-Attractions-Sizing-up-Mizzou-s-Aldon-Smi?urn=ncaaf-229133 For Iowa: Ricky Stanzi Adrian Claybourne I don't know much about the Hawkeye players other than what I've read on the internet. I've seen a few games but I'll leave it to an Iowa guy to right up what they think about the Hawkeye prospects.
  22. Locker sucks and there are no first round tight ends in this draft. Defense, Defense, Defense!!!! (and some O-line Depth, and maybe a mid round corner).
  23. You're still mad about getting your favorite jean-jacket stolen aren't ya? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubZimS4E3F0
  24. This isn't even as much politics as it is merely just doing the right thing. Senate Republicans vowed to filibuster any legislation introduced in the Senate until a settlement is reached on the Bush tax cuts and federal funding. Even a bill that would provide necessary health care for 9/11 first responders who are fuggin DIEING from all the crap they inhaled at ground zero. I don't care what political afilitation you have, if you have a heart and a spine you can see what is wrong with that.
