  1. I have to disagree with you. I watched every one on one drill and I never saw anyone beat Mangold, especially not Gabe Watson (who is going to be a major BUST if you ask me). Infact the one on one drills are the primary reason I was so impressed with this kid because not only was he beating people, he was putting a lot of people on their backs. Spencer was impressive too, but I'll stick to my guns about Mangold being the most impressive of the bunch.
  2. I'd rather have Nick Mangold if he's there in the 2nd and let Preston play guard. IMHO Mangold was the most impressive interior lineman at the senior bowl.
  3. He has a bum shoulder.
  4. The Sporting News is actually based out of St. Louis and a lot of people (all my friends from Chicago anyway) claim it is a "pro St. Louis" publication. I have to admit that it does kind of seem that way when they talk baseball, they really seem to like the Cardinals (and for good reason ). Untill last year I lived with the son of Hub Arkish (owner of Pro Football Weekly and former Bears broadcaster) so I still get a free subscription to PFW. Thats a pretty good read although I have sat down and talked football with the owner and one of the editors and their knowlledge of the game isn't really superior to my own or a lot of the people on this board for that matter. The difference is they know whats going on behind the scenes, unlike the rest of us (unless your name is Soprano )
  5. It's the March 2006 issue
  6. Good, the last thing we need on this board are any more refrences to the most overused and cliche TBD term: High motor white defensive end.
  7. They all are seniors but never once does the article mention that it is exclusive to seniors. In fact the title of the article is: Mining the Draft for Talent: A look at the top players the Bills could find at their greatest positions of need. It then refers to us having the eighth pick and 4 day one picks. Russ Lande, former NFL scout and publisher of GM Jr. NFL Draft Guide is the one made the lists, they just don't make any sense. Page 27 in this months Bills Digest.
  8. So about a month ago I signed up as an official Bills Backer and today I got my free issue of Bills Digest, it is terrible. I almost subscibed but now I'm glad I didn't. Check out this 2006 Draft analysis (and it's current March 2006 issue) Top Offensive Tackles 1.Eric Winston-Miami 2.DaBrickashaw Ferguson-UVA 3.Marcus McNeil-Auburn From every account I've read DaBrick is a top five pick while Winston is projected anywhere from a late first rounder-early second day pick. And what about that tackle from USC, he's not even mentioned but might be the second OT taken. Top DT 1.Roderick Wright 2.Anthony Montgomery 3.Kyle Williams Ngata isn't mentioned even though he might be the only DT taken in the first round and he's probably going to be our pick at #8 overall. Most places have Gabe Watson and that kid from FSU rated as the 2nd and 3rd best DTs in the draft and they aren't mentioned either (although I think Watson might as well have bust written across his forhead). Whats up with that?
  9. From the way it looks, Nate is as good as tagged
  10. Actually on second thought I like Norwood a lot more than Washington because he seems to be a better compliment to Willis. Norwood is a smaller faster back 208lbs but has some pretty good power (tons more than Choad Williams), the knock on him is he doesn't look like he could carry a full load but I think his value is being a change of pace back with 4.38 speed. Just don't know if this organization (especially with Marv at the reigns) will draft a player with the last name Norwood!
  11. Good analysis! I tend to agree with a lot of the things you brought up. I still think Sam Adams has a few good years left in him but I was thinking that the bridges with the organization might have been burnt after last year. Who knows though, maybe the regime change has remotivated Big Sam. He seemed to be dominant at sometimes last year but only when he really wanted to and that kind of worries me, not to mention pisses me off. Although playing next to Tim Anderson would frustrate any DT IMHO. Too be fair, the only real footage I've seen of Davis was that highlight video, but damn was it impressive (if you haven't seen it I urge you to go check it out). I just remember having this gut feeling last year when I saw some highlights of Sean Merriman and thinking to myself: Damn that kid is a freak! Got the same gut feeling when I saw Davis. I think the Smith and the Watkins picks are justified for a few reasons. We don't need the later rounds for Special Teams help so we might as well take some shots on guys who could make a bigger impact even though they come at a higher risk. When I look up and down the current Bills Roster it seems like we have a lot of quality back ups and decent depth; the problem is a lot of those quality backups are starters (interior OL, RE, DT-Anderson,TE), good depth at LB and in the secondary (Thomas, Greer, King, Leonhard, not Wire he sucks and should stay on Special Teams). Just my 2 cents though.
  12. Oops, my bad I meant to say we would release M. Williams...this scenario would probably not even be possible with that contract still around, I'll edit that
  13. Winston had a knee injury during his junior year, by all accounts preventing him from entering last years draft. Last year he was pretty much a consensus first round pick prior to the injury. Played last year and was a little inconsistent at first but looked strong towards the end of the year. That is where the question marks come from, Kiper has him going in the 4th but some others have him as high as mid first, so who knows? Not to mention the combine really does change a lot of things- I remember Troy Williamson always being regarded as a late first rounder last year and then he was taken #7 overall, and that is only one of many examples.
  14. What would be the consensus around here if this were to happen.... FA moves: Sign: L. Bentley, G. Jackson, R. Pickett, Ben Taylor or Will Witherspoon Resign: R. Edwards, J. Peters (long term), Franchise Nate Release: T. Vincent, E. Moulds, S. Adams, Bannan, J. Posey, M. Williams Draft: 1-Vernon Davis TE-Maryland 2-Eric Winston T-Miami 3-Darryl Tapp-DE-Va Tech 3-Taitusi Lutui-G USC (might be gone by this pick) 4-Charles Gordon CB Kansas 5-Pat Watkins S-Florida State 6-Brad Smith WR-Missouri 7-Jerious Norwood RB Mississippi State After watching that video of Davis posted in the other thread (Highlight Video of Davis) I'm sold. That kid looks like a freak! This is kind of a dream draft although I don't know how far off it really is because we haven't even seen combine workouts (a lot can change there). What are thoughts on that draft?
  15. He'll play wide out in the NFL and I would love that pick. I'm a homer though, considering I live about a quarter mile from Faurot field (Mizzou's football stadium) and have seen every start Smith has ever had (most in person). He's 6'2 212 lbs and runs the forty in the high 4.3s low 4.4s and is absolutely electric in the open field. His best attribute of all though is his attitude and his dedication. He'll be a project but if anyone could make the transition I think he can.
  16. Actually this is what you said, man you have one hell of a selective memory: Not worth the trouble? A guy who Won a Superbowl and is a two time defensive player of the year is not worth the trouble of a crime he was eventually aquitted of? And you are 100% wrong about this impact on his younger teamates. Ray Lewis has always been an OUTSTANDING leader on the field and holds everyone on that defense accountable for doing their jobs. He also has taken younger players under his wing such as Terrell Suggs and fellow Miami alum Ed Reed. Jimmy Johnson used to have "star rules" for certain players because they were worth the trouble and it won him a few Superbowls. By the way, not one person has agreed with your assement of the players who come out of Miami.
  17. I'm the one who called him a moron and I feel this thread has justified that statement. At least you finally named specific players in this thread although your analysis is way off. Not only did Ray Lewis go to a Superbowl, he won the damn thing and was MVP---thats the highest of highs in the NFL. You keep reffering to the people who disagree with you as "miami guys" and I don't know one person who has claimed to be an avid fan of the U, just Bills fans who happen to think you don't know what the hell you are talking about (once again I'm a Va Tech Hokies fan for god sakes)! Great Post !!!!!!
  18. This guy has to be joking right, another post this long and still not one fact to back up his orginal post about Miami....WTF? And by the way like I said before I am not a "Miami guy" rather the oposite...a "Va Tech guy" so I don't like giving any credit to Miami, I just can't ignore the obvious. Andre Johnson is supposed to be one of the nicest and most humble players in the league, Ed Reed has overcome a ton to get to where he is at (article in ESPN magazine last year..read it), William Joseph almost gave up football when his parents died less then two years apart while he was college but instead became inspired to take his game to the next level, the Jets are in love with Vilma and he is already one of the leaders of that defense. I have never heard of one legal issue from any of the following players...Antrell Rolle, B. McKinnie, Shockey (made comments but no legal troubles), Willis, Portis, Santana Moss, Wilfork, V. Carey, and all the players I named before. When there are THIS MANY recognizable names from one University the chances of producing some guys who are not perfect tend to increase. Please do not post tellling me I have not read your arguments....I have and I have also provided information proving my point which is something you have not done. Quit telling people to look up police records and provide FACTS to support your own argument.
  19. As a Bills and Va Tech hokies fan, I hate everything that comes out of the city of Miami but even I can agree that you sir, are a moron. Ray Lewis... two time defensive player of the year, super bowl MVP and one of the best MLBs of all time. Ed Reed...defensive player of the year 2004-05 in his second season E. James...super productive and has been a top 5 back virtually ever year he's been in the league J. Vilma... could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he lead the NFL in tackles last season as a second year guy, also made the probowl. He has a chance to be as good as Lewis. J. Shockey... stat wise was the second best tight end in the NFL last year and when he has been healthy is one of the premier TE's in the game. Not to mention there are more than a handfull of others on that list that I would put in a Bills Uni in a heartbeat.... D.J. Williams, Wilfork, A. Johnson, and even S. Taylor
  20. Sounds a lot like my draft...see below
  21. Robinson should be happy he was even invited to the senior bowl because Brad Smith deserved to be there a lot more than he did.
  22. This guy has Ryans going before Hawk...not happening, and Jimmy Williams falling to 19, weird draft.
  23. What about Antrell Rolle's contract, for some reason I remember it being huge...bigger than Pacman Jones who was taken ahead of Rolle. Anyone know?
