  1. Today, rise and shine was at 6 a.m. when the players lined up for the drug test. When that was completed, they came over to the RCA Dome to get their measurements for height, weight, hands and arm length, Then they were off for their physicals. Here are some of the superlatives from that group: Tackles Tallest: Dennis Roland, Georgia, 6-foot-9 5/8 Heaviest: Charles Spencer, Pittsburgh, 352 pounds Longest arms: Rashad Butler, Miami, 36 inches; Terrence Pennington, New Mexico, 36 inches Biggest hands: Kevin Boothe, Cornell, 11 1/8 inches Guards Tallest: Dan Stevenson, Notre Dame, 6-foot-5 1/8 Heaviest: Max Jean-Gilles, Georgia, 355 pounds Longest arms: Davin Joseph, Oklahoma, 35 1/8 inches Biggest hands: Davin Joseph, Oklahoma, 11 1/4 inches Centers Tallest: Ryan Cook, New Mexico, 6-foot-6 5/8 Heaviest: Ryan Cook, New Mexico, 328 pounds Longest arms: Mike Degory, Florida, 34 inches Biggest hands: Nick Mangold, Ohio State, 10 3/8 inches Running backs (first group) Tallest: Gilbert Harris, Arizona, 6-foot-1 5/8 Shortest: Maurice Drew, UCLA, 5-foot-6 3/4 Heaviest: Gilbert Harris, Arizona, 235 pounds Lightest: Reggie Bush, USC, 201 pounds; Brian Calhoun, Wisconsin, 201 pounds; Jerome Harrison, Washington St., 201 pounds (Feb. 20, 2006) -- Over the past 10 drafts, 2,521 players have been selected from 254 schools. 13 schools have had 39 or more players selected. 1. Tennessee -- 64 2. Florida State -- 62 3. Ohio State -- 61 4. Miami (Fla.) -- 60 5. Florida -- 56 6. Nebraska -- 54 7. Georgia -- 51 8. Michigan -- 45 9. Notre Dame -- 44 10. Southern Cal -- 40 11. Texas A&M -- 40 12. Wisconsin -- 40 13. Oklahoma -- 39 These 13 schools account for 26.2 percent of all players drafted (656 of 2,521) In the past ten drafts, there have been players from 44 different schools selected in the top ten picks of the draft. Texas (7) and Miami (7) have the most of any schools. If you instead choose to weigh the higher draft picks, you change the results somewhat. If you take and assign a value to those picks as follows: First 10 picks in draft -- 6 points Next 20 (11-30) -- 5 points Next 30 (31-60) -- 4 points Next 40 (61-100) -- 3 points Next 50 (101-150) -- 2 points 151-end of draft -- 1 point then the results change to the following order. 1. Miami (Fla.) -- 60 players -- 205 points 2. Florida State -- 62 players -- 190 points 3. Ohio State -- 61 players -- 176 points 4. Tennessee -- 64 players -- 168 points 5. Florida -- 56 players -- 165 points 6. Georgia -- 51 players -- 149 points 7. Nebraska -- 54 players -- 133 points 8. Michigan -- 45 players -- 126 points 9. Southern Cal -- 40 players -- 121 points 10. Penn State -- 38 players -- 114 points At the 2006 Combine, 18 schools will have six or more players attend the workouts. 1. Southern Cal -- 14 2. Ohio State -- 12 3. Miami (Fla.) -- 11 4. Auburn -- 9 5. Florida State -- 9 6. Virginia Tech -- 9 7. Georgia -- 8 8. Georgia Tech, LSU, NC State, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin -- 7 14. Alabama, Colorado, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas -- 6 Most players at Combine by conference 1. Atlantic Coast -- 61 2. Big Ten -- 50 3. Pac 10 -- 49 4. Southeastern -- 47 5. Big 12 -- 37 Players from 106 schools will be at the Combine. 22 of the 106 schools are non-Division 1A schools. Did you know? Since 2000 (six years), only 12 players have been selected on the first day of the draft that were not at the Combine, four second-rounders and eight third-rounders. In 2004, Omar Jacobs' (Bowling Green) 41 touchdowns to four interceptions thrown was the best ratio in NCAA 1-A history. Kellen Clemens (Oregon) is only the second quarterback in Oregon history to pass for more than 2,000 yards in his sophomore and junior seasons. Danny O'Neil is the other one (1992-1993). Matt Leinart (Southern Cal) passed for 98 touchdowns in three years as a starting quarterback. Reggie McNeal (Texas A&M) finished third in the 100 meters at the Texas state track meet in 2002. Charlie Whitehurst's (Clemson) father David played seven years with the Green Bay Packers (1977-1983). His sister plays on the Clemson women's basketball team. Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt) grew up in Santa Claus, Ind. and lived in a subdivision called Christmas Village. Bruce Eugene (Grambling State) threw 50 touchdown pass and only six interceptions in 2005. Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo) is the first player in NCAA Division 1-A history to complete more than 70 percent of his passes in consecutive seasons (2003 and 2004). Brodie Croyle's (Alabama) father John played football for Alabama under Paul Bryant. His sister Reagan played basketball at Alabama and was Alabama homecoming queen in 2000. Brad Smith (Missouri) is only the third player in NCAA Division 1A history to pass for 7,000 yards and rush for 3,500 yards (8,799 yards passing and 4,289 yards rushing). Antwaan Randle El and Josh Cribbs are the other two, and both are playing in the NFL. He was also the ONLY player in 1A history to throw for 8,000 and rush for 4,000 Vince Young (Texas) averaged over 20 points per game in his four-year career on his high school basketball team and was a member of two district champion 400-meter relay squads. At Texas, he completed 444 of 718 passes (61.8 percent).
  2. I said one of the Last things I would lable him was tough, he was giant puss
  3. I'll take that bet, not the Pats part but the 1 mil a year thing
  4. Good Point but one of the last things I will lable MW is tough, lots of potential just never seemed to put it all together in the given time. I hope he does well, but it was time to part ways.
  5. I'm not going to miss that contract or how he couldn't ever play with an injury
  6. By the way if you haven't read that other post about Pete Prisco's top ten Free agents, Hutch and LeCharles are 1 & 2: 1. Steve Hutchinson, G, Seahawks: He is far and away the best at his position in the league. He is a mauler who teams with tackle Walter Jones to make up the best side of any line in the league. Hutchinson is 28 and will turn 29 in November, but that's young for an interior lineman. Seattle will likely place the franchise tag on him, but if he were to come free, he would be a target for a lot of teams. Normally, I don't condone paying a lot of money to guards, but this is a special player. 2. LeCharles Bentley, C/G, Saints: Bentley is 26 and will not turn 27 until December. He's in the prime of his career. Bentley played guard his first two seasons in the league and center the past two. Some say he's a better guard, but he wants to play center. Wherever he plays, he brings a tough-guy attitude to the job. He doesn't back down to anyone. Just ask Warren Sapp, a player he whipped several times when they were in the same division. The Saints aren't expected to put the franchise tag on him and Bentley wants out of New Orleans, so look for him to hit the market.
  7. Sure he plays next to Jones but Hutch is a damn good football player, IMHO a top three guard. LeCharles Bentley wants the same kind of contract and for the money I would rather make a run at Hutchinson and try to pick up someone like Nick Mangold in round two of the draft. Yeah the money is a lot for a guard but its worth it if you figure we are already paying a guard/tackle more than what those two are asking, his name: Mike Williams. Nevermind Williams was just cut two minutes ago, peace out!
  8. For the price, we could probably make a serious run at Hutchinson even with the transition tag. IMHO Mangold in the second would be sweet and a lot cheaper! LeCharles is very good player but Hutch is the guy I really want.
  9. Not much new but a few things: We will not be drafting a QB in round 1 or 2 of this year but we are looking to add another QB via Free Agency or later rounds in the draft. Marv kind of threw his support behind Losman but said there will be open competition. Refered to our coach as "The competent Dick Jauron"
  10. Just thought I'd give the heads up
  11. Last night I was at a Bar enjoying a few bud lights and throwing some darts when I overheard these guys next to me talking about "some bad ass DT from Oregon" who the Rams will be drafting in April. I then told them that I was a Bills fan and there is a strong chance that we will be taking Ngata at #8. They acted like I was crazy. Then on my way home today, they bring in some draft expert on the local radio and all this guy talks about is landing Ngata with the Rams #11 pick, not once did he bring up the possibility of him not being there. Yeah I know its early and this pick is not set in stone by any means, but these idiots around here need to do some research. That might not be a bad trading partner though (if Marv and Co. decide to trade down), might be able to pick up another second round pick and still land someone like Huff, Davis, or Hali in the first.
  12. I'll still take Ngata. Just say no to Gabe Watson, he didn't even start every game at Mich. because of poor performance....BUST
  13. Yeah whats the deal with the colts, it seems like they should be in Cap Hell here in a few years. Sooner or later all those young guys on that defense are going to be up for contract and will probably have to walk. I guess that is there strategy though, spend big on Offense and address the D in the draft every year.
  14. Nevermind I found it, for those who are interested here you go.... 15. Last year the combine workouts were broadcasted on NFL network, I know it starts tomorrow but I'm not sure if its workouts or interviews. Anyone know when they start broadcasting this stuff, I'm anxious to see some players.
  16. Lost a step or had to play next to Tim Anderson and Justin Bannan all year. Who would you double team out of those three ?
  17. They better be meeting every day untill they figure this out. Anybody heard any news of some progress?
  18. The more and more I think about it we Need Big Sam here next year, or we have to find an EQUAL replacement in free agency. IMHO Big Sam is still the best D-Lineman on the team and can be dominant when he wants to be. I will admit I hate the "I play when I want to play" type attitude, but now I wonder how much of that was MM not being able to deal with his players. Sam Adams can clog the middle but in all reality he really likes to get after the QB; he had his best year when Pat was next to him and they could share the duties. Unlike a lot of people on this board, I didn't see much improvement from Tim Anderson and if there was any he went from Terrible to just Awful. Put Sam Adams next to Ngata's big ass and DT becomes a major strength again. Bottom Line: This DT rotation: Adams, Ngata, Edwards or This DT rotation: Ngata, Edwards, Anderson
  19. Can't drug test for shrooms...ahh the things you learn in college
  20. Thats why drafting THIS DUDE should get more attention around here as a viable option, although from how Marv has been acting it's Ngata all the way.
  21. So when do we know if get these picks or not?
  22. I know it's still way early but the closer we get to the draft it looks like his stock is slipping because he is a little undersized, however if we land him in round two I will go NUTS! After watching senior bowl practices I want this guy in a Bills Uni. I think too often people get caught up purely in the physical attributes of college players and not actually their play on the field. Gean-Jiles and Spencer do have ideal size to play on the interior but neither seemed to possess the Mean streak that Mangold seems to play with. Reminds me of a much more technically sound version of Jake Grove from last years draft.
  23. Anybody know how the whole compensation system works in the NFL? It seems pretty inconsistent and confusing but what types of picks, if any, do you think we will be getting for Pat and Jonas leaving? I'm betting we get a fourth or fifth for Pat and nothing for Jennings but that is simply a guess, considering I don't even know how the whole process works. Anyway if anyone knows what they base these picks off of, I'd love to be filled in.
