I agree that we need some play makers on D. But I have also observed that when the opportunity to make a tackle was there we were pretty sure at it. The thing I noticed about this D was we were so out of position during a play, and never generated any pressure. Those things I believe were coaching issues more than talent. This is coming from a comfirmed pessimist.

Doesn't Lovie use the Tampa 2 D? Isn't it true that TEs eat the Tampa 2 for lunch? Do we really want to make it easier for NE to score? I would have thought that we had seen enough of that D with tricky Dicky?

It doesn't, but it does demostrate what a week QB class this is. When a Freshman QB wins the trophy and a LB comes in second and the only other QB invited isn't even in the conversation for draft potenial... it seems to indicate some strong evidence against the class in general. I think Fitz greatest weakness is he doesn't elevate the play of his teammates. Barkley gives me the same fear. Smith's stats are impressive, but I've also watched him play, and he does not seem to be more than a deep ball wing and prayer thrower aka Losman 2. Crucify if you want, that's my observation. Draft a QB in the second round or later, just don't waste a pick in round 1 on these guys.

I have such a hard time believing any QB coming out this year is worth a first round pick. This class reminds me so much of the class from 2 years ago. A lot of Ponders, lockers, and Gaberts, in this class. I also have difficulty with the fact that we are talking about QBs that that didn't get any heismen consideration.

Yes because the QB class is so good this year that a freshmen won the heisman and only 3 players were even invited to NY. The times I watched G. Smith all he was doing is throwing it as long as he could and the WR was so wide open all he had to do was adjust his route which they almost always had to do. Not impressed. Get a QB but not in the first.

This is good stuff. I have friends in the UK that rag on me all the time about why we call our sport football.

Let's just change the name of the game from football to airball. Heck we already apply the foot to the ball less than a quarter of the plays. All the NFL wants to see is the ball in the air.

Seem pretty clear to me why we haven't drafted a QB ... Being that an early round QB brings with it great scrutiny, selecting a bust can be a career ender. Better to be completely sure than risk getting fired. The only sure bets in the past 3 years were not available at our picks. No guts no glory.

Hate the idea. It is a lot easier to convert 15 yards than recover an onside kick.

All people have days where things just go right. Easly was in the zone on special teams. The first thought I had when SJ went down was that we'll get to see if it translates to the offense. No such luck.

When the Bills line up on offense I know exactly what the play its going to be 95% of the time. If I, a guy who wasn't even good enough to play high school varsity football in a town of only 2000 people can figure out what we are running, guys that do this for a living must see blood. We are predictable and predictably bad. Meaning not only can you figure out what we are running, it's a bad play to be running at the time we run it.

Jumping the gun on young inexperienced players with "potential" is really the only way you can trade for one. If we want Kap now would be the only time available to do it. If you wait for the potential come to fruition it's too late the team will demand too high a price or won't trade at all. It's risky, but it's the only play you have if you think a guy is on the cusp of being good.

I half agree with the OP. We do need better WRs. The thing is if we never throw the ball down field how do we know the WR can't catch them????? So now it is either Fitz unwilling to throw down field, or Gailey unwilling to let him throw down field. I case could me made that there isn't anyone open, but this is the NFL WR are rarely "open". Throw the ball and give your WR a chance to make a play.

He's just a smarter captain check down. JUST CHUCK IT IN THE CLOSING SECONDS! I wonder if we even have a hail mary in our play book?

This is why, this year, is one of the most frustrating I've had the displeasure of watching.

This team lacks accountability (publicly at least). The owner doesn't pressure the coaches. The coaches don't pressure the players. The players don't pressure each other. I would even add that the fans don't pressure the owner to a slight degree. Maybe the few older guys are so use to losing that they have developed a don't care attitude and it has spread throughout the team. To me the fish rots at the head first. Ralph needs to demand better! Kudos to Kelsay for speaking up.
