While I love the fact that Ralph is standing up and saying what he thinks, I think he needs to spend some time behind the scenes recruiting some other small market owners. They need a coalition to make their case stronger. If all the small market owners stand up at once, I think Ralph will look less like a "renegade" -even though of course he's not.

Is Jason Taylor full of schitt??
gobillsinytown replied to ajzepp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As of right now though, Jason is our friend. In order for us to have a shot at the playoffs, the Jets must lose. As soon as the game clock ticked down to "0" today, Jason is my idol. We should all send emails to him saying: "Yes sir! Only three plays and you would have beat us, so chin up! Beat the Jets and it will all be better." Go Jason! Sack Pennington! -
I think "cyber stalk" is a little extreme. Maybe just a little ribbing in a very civilized way. After all, 21-0 is 21-0......

From TMQ: Bills mentioned...
gobillsinytown replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ngata would have been a poor choice considering the system we were adopting. And, the fact that Bart Scott, undrafted, is one of the Ravens' starting LB's, goes to show what a crap shoot the draft really is. -
I would like oral with Tony Romo...

I have to ask this question about ESPN: Does their audience research and ratings data actually show that obsessive coverage of maybe six players in the NFL adds up to more profit? If so, it must be a lot of money versus the fans they alienate. I just cannot watch any more, it's like someone fresh out of a mental institution with a bad case of obsessive-compulsive disorder is deciding what to program. The only ESPN football show I can watch now is the one with Jaworski breaking down film. At least they actually mention the names of some of the other players in the league. -
Spikes Is Done?

A little compassion would be nice. I don't know what you do for a living, but imagine losing the one thing that enables you to earn a living. Besides, it takes a minimum of a year to come back from this type of injury. If he's truly done, we won't know for sure until next year. -
THANK YOU. Does everybody remember the last time the Bills picked 4th overall? Mike Williams.

"The first touchdown came after Nate Clements' interception on the third play of the game. Both were after Evans got in front of Texans cornerback Demarcus Faggins for the easy score." Boy, I bet this guy learned how to fight early......

Fin Fans Wising Up to the Mularkey

Watch what happens when they end up benching Culpepper. I'd bet good money Mularkey's pushing for it already. -

I've had a crappy day today. But when I turned on my computer and saw that the Felons had lost to HOUSTON......I'm feeling much better! I'm betting Culpecker is on the bench soon.

Not to overstate the obvious, but the mark of a quality team is the ability of its backups to fill in well where needed. During a typical season, at least one starter is going to get hurt. I think that especially with the length of the season, the team that wins the superbowl is the one with the best backups. FormerlyGuestJason76: 11 beers is a fine contribution and every fan's duty! RB gains 658 yards in one game Friday
gobillsinytown replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you sure those are right? "385" and "380" seems like a typo. But if not...a good DL with decent quickness and strength would run rings around immobile slabs of flesh like that -
$7500? That's like fining one of us 75 cents. Junior's probably got a pair of dress shoes that cost $7500.

I agree with this......the team could have just cut him and only been responsible for paying him a fraction of what they're paying now. So in that respect I think they did the right thing. I think the real question is whether or not putting his field experience on the sideline is going to have any long term negative effects on the secondary. While it's true the rookies seem to be playing well so far, they're going to be tested again many times this year once other teams have a decent amount of game film to look at. That's going to be the real test: How well do they adjust once other teams start reading their tendencies? While it's true TV is probably beyond his prime physically, he certainly brought a wealth of "in-game" coaching to help the secondary change up it's "looks".

The best fight or most interesting thing
gobillsinytown replied to BoondckCL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
.......Bills-Colts game, I believe '92 or '93. It was a beautiful fall day at the stadium and the Bills were demolishing them under the bright sunshine. So, many people were feeling festive and decided to ramp up the beer consumption, high prices be damned! So in the end zone, some guy with more alcohol than a sense of embarassment picks a fight with a lady, over something too stupid to remember. That was bad enough, but worse for him was the fact that he was standing a row above her and leaning down. This lady, who knew a little about leverage, promptly jackknifed him two rows further down. He got back up for revenge but by this time her boyfriend/husband stepped in front. After a brief scuffle, about 20 security guards came and hauled the idiot out, one on each arm and leg. It was then that I really understood the meaning of the word "embarassment". And my all time favorite event, which someone else might remember, is when someone, who was a true genius with a sense of the sublime, put Bryan Cox trading cards in all of the men's urinals at the stadium. This of course was during the time of Bryan's racism comments about the fans of Buffalo. It was without a doubt one of the finest gestures towards our beloved Dolfelon rivals that has ever been conceived. My friend, who had returned from the restroom shortly after me, just looked at me and said: "Why didn't I think of that?" It's those moments of true inspiration that really make me feel great to be a Bills' fan. To this day, I would love to meet the guy who thought that up. -
What a bunch of money hungry pigs, Our Bills and
gobillsinytown replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As an experienced Bills merchandise shopper, here's my tips: 1. Wait till the offseason. This is hard to do because of the "impulse" factor, but you can find just about anything you want at 20-25% less. 2. Ebay. I found a 300 dollar (retail) Bills leather jacket for 120 shipped by waiting (I know, it's hard!) until April. 3. Shop the out-of-the-way stores in Buffalo. 4. Stay away from the stores at the stadium. Granted, they have some unique stuff, but you're going to pay the ultra premium, stick-you-because-we-can price. Plus, there's nothing like a few beers at the game to make the price seem better. To me it's a matter of pride. Sometimes I have the money to pay a higher price, but if I can get it cheaper, why not? -
Steve Smith has something to say
gobillsinytown replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember Shane Conlan's fight with turf toe. It got so bad that he was having the trainers shoot it up with novocaine before the game and at halftime. I've been lucky not to have toe problems, but my mother had to have some of her toenails removed. It hurt.....a lot. She couldn't walk for almost a week after the operation. -
Raiders sign Jeff George
gobillsinytown replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember when Jeff was playing for one of his many teams on Monday Night (don't remember the year, but Dan Fouts was doing color commentary). Fouts said something after Jeff pulled a bonehead move that stuck with me: "You know, it's a shame that Jeff just doesn't go ahead and run the offense" I think he was trying to say in nicer words: "Jeff's an egomaniac who thinks no one can tell him what to do. So he changes the play at the line of scrimmage, no matter what the coaches want. It doesn't matter whether his audible actually WORKS or not, because Jeff thinks his play is always going to be better" -
Typical bush league city crap
gobillsinytown replied to vegas55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know how you feel, but it does happen in other areas. Living here in Youngstown, OH and being between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, the marketing, broadcast and rebroadcast agreements have turned the "who gets to air what" into a circus almost every week. And now that the NFL has its own network, it's going to get more complicated. And we don't even get the NFL network here, unless you pay for the premium tier, which turns the cable bill into a car payment. -
I wasn't making excuses for JP. Actually, it doesn't matter to me who starts at QB, so long as that QB gives the team the best chance to win. Tom Brady has proven once and for all that just because a guy is picked in the first round doesn't mean he's automatically a starter. You're right in that JP is going to make mistakes like that, every young QB does, especially when they're under pressure. If they're going to go with him as the starter, then it's a good thing it happened now when the game doesn't count. Now, let's hope he learned from it and can integrate the lesson into his game.

I agree. I saw the replay several times and it looked to me like Losman was throwing to a spot. It also seemed to me that Reed was supposed to get to a certain point in his route and make an adjustment based on what he saw in the secondary. Maybe Reed saw one thing and Losman saw something else.

Typical bush league city crap
gobillsinytown replied to vegas55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I had mentioned, it has to do with the specific agreements between the local television stations, the cable networks, the satellite companies, and the NFL. All of that can get quite complicated. Here in Youngstown, OH, we live between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. The agreements between the Ytown TV stations, cable companies, and the NFL have gotten so complicated that each Sunday is an adventure in terms of what game is going to be on. Youngstown actually gets Bills' games from time to time, because conflicting agreements prevent one station from running the Steeler's game at the same time as the Browns game, etc.
