For the most part, the Bills have put a premium on special teams and it looks like these cuts have special teams in mind. And since they're going to struggle on offense and defense, a strong special teams unit could make the difference in some games. DeHaven can do a lot with some talent. Let's hope they made the right decisions.

Should bills keep Hardy?
gobillsinytown replied to John Belucheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Levi took the blame because the QB is generally going to do that regardless of whose fault it really was. On the replay it looked like Hardy ran the wrong route in the Lions game. It looked like Levi was throwing to a spot and Hardy was supposed to be there. The best wideouts in the NFL run precise routes and are in perfect timing with their QB. After three years, I'm not sure Hardy is ever going to be able to do that. -
It seems to me that "discussions" could mean anything. Were they formal discussions with Leinart's agent, or just chit chat between assistant coaches. The NFL is a pretty tight fraternity, so I think these "discussions" go on all the time. The only thing that makes this one different is that Leinart was supposed to be the franchise in AZ until Warner came along, and he's getting huge money to be a backup. Unless Derek Anderson has suddenly "gotten it", it's a pretty bad reflection on Leinart when he gets beaten out for a starting job that they were prepared to hand to him. And I can't imagine that the Cardinals are particularly confident in Anderson. If the Bills were interested at all, it would be as a backup or a reclamation project. If Leinart can't hack it in AZ with good receivers and a pretty decent line.....imagine what would happen here?

My guess is that he will clear waivers and go to the practice squad. I would think that if he had any immediate potential they wouldn't be waiving him.

WHAT JERSEY IS EVERYONE GOING TO SPORT
gobillsinytown replied to BILLZ4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WANG baby! It's the cheap Chinese variety (irony on), but that was all I could find. -
Got mine! I'm sure they're junk, but my Wang waits for no one!

Will the Bills make the playoffs this season ?
gobillsinytown replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My hope is 6-10, or better yet 7-9 with momentum into next year (barring a lockout). -
I'm emailing Chan now and telling him to cancel the season.

Or it could translate to 2 and 14, because the NFL will take pity on us and give us two free wins.
-
No, because with every injury, no matter what kind, we are going to lose more games. So at this point, we will be -2 and 14. Not only are we not going to win any games, but will acutally lose more than no games. Thus, instead of 0 and 16, we will be -2 and 14.

I dont' think that's the issue so much as experience and field presence. Plenty of linebackers can play at his weight, the Bills have had a few good ones play at that size over the years. At the NFL level it really is a mental game, so I think it's whether Aaron is smart enough to play linebacker at this level.

The Haynesworth saga continues
gobillsinytown replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never had a problem with Albert's position...........until the minute he took the bonus check from the Redskins in April. Up until then, he had a legitimate issue. Albert is a classic 4-3 tackle. His job is to disrupt the line of scrimmage. When he's on his game, he's one of the best in the league. In the 3-4, he's going to be called upon to do things that he's never had to do before. At the NFL level, it's really hard to make the transition. Albert could have asked for a trade, or just not shown up at all and forced the issue. But, the minute he took the money, he gave tacit agreement to what the Redskins organization wanted to do. He knew they were going to the 3-4. He took the money anyway. -
It's a shame that someone as intelligent as Lori would allow a few morons to get to her. The same applies to Tim Graham. Unforutnately, that's the nature of internet message boards. Anonymity brings out the worst in some people. However, every message board in existence has this problem, and the only way to solve it is to restrict access through lots of moderating. That's time consuming and expensive, which is why few message boards are totally moderated. Message boards designed for the general public are unpredictable, and while I would love to have Lori and Tim back, they're going to have to understand that they will encounter this problem in any unmoderated message board, no matter where they post.

Great Jeff George article (link provided)
gobillsinytown replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unbelievable. The "Jeff George" in this article must have been from the same universe as the bearded Spock. -
Agree........but I can't see him getting 2 million as a situational pass rusher. Even with his experience, he's going to be late coming into a team's camp, having to learn all new terminology. Can't see that happening for 2 mill.
-
My guess is that he wants to pick the situation. In Buffalo, he would be switching to LB, a position he hasn't played in the pros. I'm guessing is that he wants to play in a 4-3 or Tampa 2 as a situational pass rusher, hopefully for a team close to Superbowl contention. I like Schobel, but Buffalo is going in a different direction on defense and he has no experience in the 3-4. I hope he's able to pick the best team for his abilities, but these situations don't always end well.

Ralph Needs to Adopt Jim Kelly Now!
gobillsinytown replied to BuffaloBorn1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This idea is one of the most interesting (and bizarre) ideas I've seen yet to keep the Bills in Buffalo. All Jim has to do is learn how to play tennis. -
Congrats to Ralph, Russ & Buddy...seriously

You're right. We should have a big spender like Dan Snyder for an owner. After all, look at how successful the Redskins have been. -
Sound like it's more about Eric really wanting to get onto the practice field, which is why everybody loves this kid so much. That attitude is admirable and what this team needs, but I think that if they let him out here at all, it will be under very limited conditions. I'd love to see him out there though, even if it's just for a couple of reps.

IMO, it's not that he isn't big enough, it's more about the nature of the NT position. The NT position is a two gap position, so Albert would be responsible for watching two spots on the line, all while having two 300+ lb. offensive linemen banging on him. It's a tough position to play, which is why good NT's are so hard to find. Sounds like Albert doesn't think that big check he took earlier this year is enough.

Stroud is 10 lbs lighter than last season
gobillsinytown replied to Coach Klein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent. I think in their initial transition they will platoon DE, NT and DE as much as they can and rely on the linebackers to generate a pass rush. -
4 out of 5 Bills fans like wang. And that 5th person...
gobillsinytown replied to murra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anybody know what his jersey number is yet? I get one Bills item a year, and this year it's definitely the WANG jersey! -
I think that's going to be the major sticking point. The vetrans want the cap, the owners certainly do. But the agents will not, and they do have some influence. Ultimately I think they get it done because all sides will realize that a strike can and will threaten the NFL's dominance in the sports landscape.
