  1. Considering that he's already got a concussion from the blocking his line is giving him, imagine what would happen behind the Bills' line?
  2. If you're going to laugh, make sure it's a deep hearty laugh, with a hint of derision. Something like: HHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!
  3. I think it's a matter of timing. You get your "franchise" QB just as you're beginning to develop your O-line. In this team's case, drafting a "franchise" QB this year would have been a waste, as well as bringing in a free agent, becasue any QB is going to get killed behind this line. I think you have to have at least something resembling a cohesive unit before you put a rookie back there, and I don't think any of the available free agent QB's this year would have been able to help. This seems to be the pattern of the elite teams: Begin to build your line, then bring in the QB, so you're building them both together. Sadly, it looks like the Bills will have the opportunity to get the "franchise" in next year's draft...if there is a next year.
  4. With the new board controls, I'd forgotten all about the ignore list. All good now!
  5. It's going to be a long, brutal season on this board. I think we should come up with some sort of hostility rating for fans: The obvious: IHR - Internet Hostility Rating BFAI - Bills' Fan Angst Index ABFS - Angry Bills' Fan Scale BFMSM - Bills' Fan Mental Suicide Metric We're all going to need a sense of humor to get through this year.
  6. Theraputic hypothermia was developed by doctors at a Miami hospital with funding help from the Nick Buoniconti foundation. Nick's son was paralyzed while playing high school football. Ralph Wilson is a big supporter of spinal cord research, and the stadium medical facility is one of the few in the NFL that is set up to use the proceedure. Probably saved Kevin's life. At the time, researchers around the country were excited to study the data that came from Kevin's treatment to see if it could be applied in other cases. Sounds like some real good came out of this!
  7. I've been to games in Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Minnesota. I didn't see much difference between any of those stadiums as far as fan behavior went. Alcohol does funny things to people. Every incident that I saw in those stadiums was alcohol related. And there were incidents at every game. Most of them were minor, but at every game I've been to, something happened that required security to get involved. None of the things I saw or heard took away from my enjoyment of the game. The solution is to ban alcohol at the games if the NFL wants a totally family friendly atmosphere. They won't do that becasue of the revenue they generate from beer sales. Compared to fan behavior world wide, Americans are pretty civilized. Every year, several people are killed due to voilence at soccer games in Europe. In some cases, riots have broken out that security was unable to control. So I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
  8. I've been saying this for a long time.....we fans are going to have a lot more to worry about once Ralph dies. This is an 800 million dollar asset, and it's going to be interesting to say the least.
  9. I live in Ohio, and the state charges a toll to ride on I-80. Then there's the wonderful I-76 through PA, as you had mentioned. I can't think of a state that doesn't charge a toll on at least one major interstate road.
  10. Living an hour away from Cleveland, I can tell you that no Browns fan is happy with Delhomme. They're already blaming him for their first loss. I can't imagine Delhomme doing any better behind the Bills' O-line. Buffalo has two fundamental problems that, until they're solved, will keep the team from being a contender: 1. Offensive line 2. Quarterback (see #1) While there are certainly more problems with the team than these two, there will be no significant improvement until #1 and #2 are addressed. And those two problems will not be fixed in one year. None of the free agent QB's on the market this past year would survive behind this line. Like it or not, the team believes in building through the draft, and after their two major free agent O-line aquisitions in Dockery and Walker were busts, I think the front office has a bad taste in its mouth. The Spiller pick can be argued forever, but if the team honestly believed that none of the linemen on the board were worth the pick, then they did what they thought was best. I guess we'll find out........
  11. Don't know about the steroids part, but Sanders plays his position with everything he's got. He throws his body around without too much regard for it. Acutally, now that I think about it......if he were doing steroids, he should theoretically be injured less. The problem with steroids is that the payback for using them comes after football.
  12. +1, especially the part about taking professional football too seriously.
  13. I wouldn't say there is no serious pressure, but unfortunately there's no way this team is going to be winning in the short term...as in this season. They're installing a fundamentally different defense, and at least along the D-line, they don't have the players to implement it. On offense, they inherited a mess in the O-line that wasn't going to be fixed this year, no matter how many free agents/draft picks they got. At QB they have a guy who has the equivalent of post traumatic stress disorder. And drafting a "franchise" QB in this year's draft didn't make sense to me, since he would have been ruined behind this line. If they don't start winning sometime next year, the pressure will start to go up. I've never bought into this idea that winning isn't important to Ralph or the team.
  14. Well, since the Bills are going to have a pretty bad year.........the freaking out on this board is going to reach epic proportions.
  15. You seem rather disappointed in the team. That's a shame.
  16. Then again, Buffalo is an intriguing prospect for coaches who want to build up a reputation for turning around bad franchises. I remember this guy Bill Polian who had the same idea. Granted, we're in a different era now, but it's still doable.
  17. You're right about that....I went to a few games that year. Sometimes it looked like they were in practice and the other team's defense was runing a sack drill.
  18. The nice thing about Sunday Ticket is that there are a number of other games to watch, after the Bills are done abusing you.
  19. If he's as bad at selling insurance as he was at quarterbacking, he's not selling much insurance.
  20. I think you should forward this to Wilson Industries. Clear, concise and to the point. Maybe Littman will be moved to resign.
  21. Based on what I saw of the Jets tonight, the Bills can take one of the two games in the series. I know the Bills looked awful in game one............but it's a long season and lots of things can happen. I'm hoping for 6-10 with a lot of momentum heading into next year, if there's a season then. What I'm really hoping for is spoiling someone's playoff hopes at the end of the year.
  22. Bills fans will have a lot more to worry about than whether the team picks up vetrans off the waiver wire once Willson stops living. Ralph may be by your definition "cheap", but he's the only reason we still call the team the Buffalo Bills. Once he dies, things are going to get very interesting.
  23. Looks like Carroll is putting his stamp on the team. Even more bizarre is the headline below it, where Al Davis vetoed one of the Raiders' final cuts. Good ol Crazy Al.......... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Headlines.aspx?sport=NFL
  24. I'm hoping for anything between 6-10 to 8-8. The difference this year being that this season will finish with momentum going into next year, unlike Dicky J's time as head coach. It always seemed to me that the end of each year under Jauron, the team was crapping out. I hope this year that this is the team nobody wants to play in December.
  25. Aaron Schobel = Brett Farve, Jr.
