  1. "SF really shows what good coaching can do as they did zip with Nolan and Singletary. Once the Jets figured us out then everybody else did it and our coaches haven't been able to overcome it. Harbaugh has the right idea, run the ball and agressive defense to protect your QB and you can win a lot of games. SF probably wont beat the Saints or Packers but nothing would me me happier if they did because as the copycat league teams would get back to smashmouth football instead of this pansy-ass spread." Thank you. This is a team sport. Put Alex Smith at quarterback for Buffalo and their record would be the same. A playoff caliber football team starts with two things: Good offensive line play, and good play from the front seven. Everything else follows from there.
  2. I'm detecting some bitterness here.
  3. A loss for the Patriots.
  4. If Revis is on his game, expect Stevie to have a very quiet day. Chan will try some tricks to isloate Steve in the slot, but if Revis follows him around the field it won't matter. So the onus is on our TE and other wideouts to make sure they're in sync with Fitzy. Another key will be Freddy and CJ running flare control. This forces the defense to spread itself out even further, leaving good-size gaps for yards after the catch. On running plays, the O-Line must get to the second level to prevent the linebackers from stacking the middle, and the wideouts have to block down the field. That's been a key to Freddy's success this year...the wideouts are doing a good job blocking downfield, so that's been giving him good cutback lanes. I think our defense has an easier job this week. They absolutely have to stop the run, which puts the game on Sanchez's shoulders and he isn't the kind of QB that can take over a game. I would put Dareus at nose and make sure he's gumming up the works in the middle. He needs to tie up at least two O linemen, allowing the linebackers to flow to the ball. The weakest part of the defense is the lack of pass rush, so hopefully Chan can disguise coverages enough to confuse Sanchez, which doesn't seem to be that difficult to do. Still, I wouldn't be suprised if the Jets pull this one out, but it's not the end of the season if they do.
  5. The Bills won today because, as usual, I didn't get to watch it. So I brought up the game cast on ESPN and NFL.com. I believe that as long as I continue to do this, the Bills should keep winning.
  6. So now I'm confused....it is a safety and is it reviewable? Simms seems pretty confused himself
  7. If Bills' fans want the team to stay in Buffalo, then it will come at a price. The NFL is easily the most popular sport in the country, and the competition for franchises is intense. Whether we like it or not or want to believe it or not, the NFL does not owe the city a team. It seems to me that this deal is a relatively small price to pay for keeping the team.
  8. Reminds me of the Herschel Walker trade..... Bringing in a new QB at mid season who hasn't taken a snap since last season, asking him to learn a new system in a couple of weeks, probably while he's on the field, against defenses that are going to throw every blitz package they can at him? I hope he's been working out......
  9. And his name is so media friendly! It trips off the casual fan's tongue so easily.
  10. When the Giants beat the Pats in the Superbowl, they didn't get any sacks on Brady. But what they did do was exactly what the defense did today: Clog up his passing lanes, knock him around a little, and get him off his rhythm. It would sure be nice to get 4 or 5 sacks on him, but usually the defense has to blitz, and if they don't get to him he carves them up. So the key is to generate enough pressure to make him uncomfortable, switch up the looks and coverages enough to keep him guessing.
  11. The Bills won today because....... For the second straight week, CBS switched the game I get here to the final 1:35 of the Bills game. My positive thoughts added to all other true Bills fans made the difference. I WILLED Lindell to make the chipshot!
  12. It seems that your assessment might be a little premature......
  13. Just saw the last 1:37 here! Awesome to see Bellicheck make a mistake by calling an extra time out! WOW!
  14. No one has slowed the guy down. The Giants in their last superbowl showed everybody what the formula is: Knock Brady around. Show lots of different looks. Clog up the passing lanes. That might slow him down enough to keep the game close enough to pull it out at the end.
  15. I think the ref was so shocked at how badly the LT was mugging the pass rusher that he forgot to throw the flag.
  16. "Tackled" is putting it mildly. "Held down and mugged" might be a better description.
  17. For the first time ever the NFL contract worked in my favor. I live in Youngstown, OH and the Browns beat the Colts in time for them to switch to Bills/Raiders for the last 1:35. But that's the first time in about 15 years.
  18. Here's part of the article from PFT: “When the offense is ready to snap the ball, we’ve got to be ready to play defense,” Jauron said. “That’s my responsibility and I didn’t get it done on that play.” The Browns’ defense didn’t have its play called when the Bengals hurried to the line on that decisive touchdown, and at the time the ball was snapped, Jauron was looking down at his play sheet. There’s no excuse for that lack of preparedness, as Jauron acknowledged." There's really not much more to add. They didn't have a play called, which is a little mind boggling to me considering the situation. Then again, "mind boggling" describes Dick to a tee.
  19. If this is true then Chad is going to have a helluva time catching passes. The Patriots passing game is all predicated on the WR's making reads pre-snap and after the snap. It makes sense though......Chad was the man in Cincinnatti so he probably wasn't required to adjust his routes. He better start learning or they'll design him right out of the offense. IMO their best receiver is Welker, because he's totally in sync with his QB. Reminds me a lot of Jimbo and Andre.
  20. Sam Chandler is actually good friends with Marlo Perry. Sounds like the marketing department missed yet another chance to market the friendship between a current player and a retired player.
  21. And what's more, they should have told the marketing team ahead of time that Larry McGee was going to get hurt, so that they could sell Larry McGee band aids. You're right....a truly pathetic lack of communication between the production and communication departments.
  22. That might have been due to the game itself.....no real reason to blitz when there's that big of a lead.
  23. I try to watch these shows from a neutral standpoint although it is hard. Fox has exclusive rights to the NFC, so they generally only mention AFC games in passing, even the feature games. So a Bills/Chiefs game isn't going to get any coverage. If the Bills keep winning though, that will change.
  24. Then you would be the only other one. I moved here from Buffalo in 1989 and I've talked with exactly one other Bills fan since then. Not a big suprise, most people here grew up watching the Browns/Steelers. At lease nobody gives me any crap for being a Bills fan though.
  25. I always liked Lee. Seems to be a pretty classy guy. Beef Moe on the other hand..........
