  1. I live close to Pittsburgh, and based on the media stuff I get here, there's no way they're going to let Wallce leave. I think Kirwan is filling up space.
  2. I live about and hour from Cleveland, and just based on the fan talk here.........NO. He plays when he's motivated, which is only when he's getting the most attention.
  3. I thought it was pretty accurate. The Bills did have a lot of injuries but that's not really an excuse since all teams have to deal with it. I think the main reason the Giants are SB champs is because they got healthy on defense at the end of the season.
  4. Alcohol has a tendency to make dignity a little hard to find, especially when the amount of alcohol consumed is proportionate to the pain of the loss. I bet he was miserable the next day though.....hungover and his ankle on fire after the shot wore off.
  5. This is a valid point.....except that all 32 cities will never refuse to do so. To my knowledge, there has never been a case where a city has flatly refused to use public money that has kept their team. I'm not saying it's right......but it's reality.
  6. I'm thinking what would be easier on taxpayers' wallets.......renovate. The Cowboys just got a new stadium at over 1 billion....that seems to be the going rate for new. Renovating is a lot cheaper. The team will definitely be in Buffalo as long as Ralph is alive. Once he's gone (like him or not), things will get very interesting.
  7. Buffalo has not been, and is not, the only NFL city to have to make this decision. At some point, every NFL city has to spend public money to keep the team. It may not be right, but it's the way it is. Want to keep the Bills in Buffalo? That's what will have to be done.
  8. And it will always be.....just because.
  9. Replay showed that there was no way he would have gotten there, despite Collinsworth's attempt to make it seem a little more dramatic.
  10. After the game tonight, when he's asked about the move, Bellicheck will give his usual clear, concise answer: "Grumble grumble grumble scoreboard grumble grumble winning grumble grumble hamstring"
  11. Brady reminds me a lot of Marino. He took whining to the refs to a new level. I remember watching the Bills' pass rush get to him in my binoculars, and I could see him complain to the refs anytime Bruce or Biscuit would get within five feet of him. I don't necessarily blame them though. If the refs are going to respond to it, then that's just another way to get an advantage over their opponent.
  12. Buffalo News reporting that Pete Metzlarrs is new tight ends coach. They'll learn how to block at least....
  13. It's also lacking any in-depth information. How much of the 84 mil goes to the team? When is the money available? For what purpose can the money be used? Usually there are very specific guidelines that determine what the money can be used for. The fact that the stadium is owned by the county may be beneficial in this case.
  14. Yea well did you read Carringtons combine report? More of a run stopper then pass rusher. What kind of impact has this player had in sacks so far? I'd have to say that MD is more adapt at run stuffing then pass rushing, even when he did play DE. While no one is arguing that MD is a major upgrade at DT for this team, he is by no means a dominate pass rusher that the team is so desperate for. Oh, this just in- the Bills are STILL desperate for a dominate pass rusher, in case you missed it ... Other then that your love as a homer is undeniable You both make valid points......but the theory behind them is: To consistently make the playoffs, the Bills need: 1. A solid O-Line 2. A solid front seven. That being said, I think the O-line is farther along than the front seven. An edge rusher on the D line or a pass rushing linebacker should be next in free agency and or draft.
  15. Ralph is cheap Buddy and Chan are old, fire them now. We should hire ________insert coach currently on ESPN or CBS or FOX here_____, no amount of money is too much. We will never win Sell the team We should sign _____insert free agent I've heard of here______, and sign him NOW. We should move up to the number one pick. Did I miss anything?
  16. This +100. I would love an announce team that emphasized the technical stuff and actually discussed what's happening on the field in some detail. I don't really care who Tony Romo is banging or what kind of frown Bill Bellicheck has on his face.
  17. [bing! Shocking no one ever notes this. It's the first thing I think of everytime Mort goes on the Donahoe crusade. He can be bitter all he wants, but I don't think Donahoe will be getting a job in the NFL anytime soon. Too much time has gone by for him to be on anyone's short list.
  18. Bean counters are always there, especially when it's between top people, because they have to go over player contracts, the cap, etc. These are routine meetings in the off season.
  19. I don't remember that being the issue. The problem was that Bill and Jeff Littman couldn't agree on where money should be spent. Littman is the CFO of all of Ralph's businesses, so he won out. Polian's problem is that while he's a great football man, he has temper problems and has a hard time compromising. His track record shows that he's a blessing and a curse: Builds a winner, then gets forced out. But now he's older and time takes its toll on people in high pressure positions like GM. It will be interesting to see if another team picks him up.
  20. So I guess that answers the question as to who wanted to keep Manning and not draft Luck......Polian.
  21. I remember pretty clearly why he was fired here: He fought constantly with Jeff Littman. This is pre-internet, but I also clearly remember a Sports Illustrated article that cited the usual "unnamed sources", which said that the Bills' organization was like two armed camps: The Polian camp in Buffalo, and the Littman camp in Detroit. Eventually something had to give, and since Littman is Ralph's CFO for all of his businesses, Ralph had to pick between the two because Polian refused to compromise. Sounds like something similar was happening in Indy.
  22. Agree. It's not going to do much good to have Luck as QB if the O-line can't protect him. There have been many "can't miss" QB prospects that have been ruined by getting pummeled on every pass play. Whomever takes the job has a lot of grunt work to do in trying to manage their bloated cap.
