Couple of interesting stats from last year and my POA for 2019.
BidsJr replied to BidsJr's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the vast majority of cases negative runs are counted as sacks already. Beyond that, the purpose of this was to try and get an overall effectiveness including his running in order to more accurately compare to those who do not run. If sacks were included as incompletions all QB's stats would have to be normalized and that doesn't really change my point. -

For the purposes of this I counted each of his 89 rushes that were not sacks as a completion and an attempt. I combined his rushing and passing numbers in a way that better shows how effective he was overall as a QB as he brings more to the table obviously than just passing. -
1st one is pretty obvious, Bills were 5-5 in Allen's last 10 starts with garbage all around him. If Clay catches the TD that is 6-4.2nd one isn't so obvious, but it something that I always pay attention to with QB's. Sacks per pass attempt.Bills QB's have been atrocious at this forever while Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers etc have managed to get the ball off without taking the big negative play.Josh really excelled at this after returning from the injury. 181 pass attempts and only sacked 7 times. That is a sack taken every 26 attempts and an outstanding ratio. My plan of action for next season would be this:FA CFA RTFA #2 OR Slot WR.DraftR1 Trade back and pickup TJ Hockinson TE Iowa. If no trade back is available take him at 9.R2 Guard or WRR3 RB or whatever wasn't selected in R2 (G/WR)Do this and we are a playoff team. To add some context to the sack numbersPass attempt per sackAllen 25.8 Brady 19.8PManning 30.9Brees 24.8Rivers 17.0Rodgers 13.3Favre 19.4Recent Bills QB'sTuh-Rod 9.5Fitzpatrick 10.5Manuel 12.5Losman 8.8Bledsoe 14.4Johnson 5.7Flutie 20.1Kelly 14.8 I will add one more interesting stat about the overall effectiveness of Allen last year.People have talked about the completion percentage ad nauseam and I am not going to go into that. But if you add together the passing and running numbers from Josh to get an idea of overall effectiveness it comes out something like this.258/409 for 63.0% 2705 yards 18 TD's and 13 INT's/FLI really believe the future is very very bright.

I am pretty sure this works because technically Foles is still under contract until the end of the league year which I believe is March 13th. He is not currently an UFA but will be @ 4pm 3/13. Franchising him puts him under contract for the next league year and makes him available for the sign and 3rd round comp to another team.

Does anyone else wonder if Allen is hurt?

It is interesting that you use Brady as your example as he was equally inaccurate and inconsistent coming out of college. Here is to hoping that Allen with superior skills can develop that consistency as Brady has. -

So if 24 individuals were part of the group and the lowest percentage per individual is 10%, how does that Obamanomics work out? -

Umm I hope you are not talking about me. If so, some remedial reading comprehension classes are in order. -

If you want to look at it black and white like that then you also must consider. 10-30 200 yards = 10 first downs. (potentially) 20-30 200 yards = 20 first downs. (potentially) 10 first downs = 30 potential plays 20 first downs = 60 potential plays 20-30 for 200 would be, potentially, much more productive. In my mind, we are talking apples and oranges. -

If a QB goes 0/0 0 yards and 0 TD's and wins, he did what he had 2. If a QB goes 22/37 306 2 TD's and 1 pick and loses, is that a good game? Those are Pennington's numbers btw, from the loss to the Patriots. What you don't seem to get is that you MUST evaluate individual players within the context of the team, and the individual game they are playing in. Example: Cadillac Williams ran 15 times for 37 yards against the Falcons. Had 7 carries in the first 2 drives. Is he a bust? No, his team was playing behind the entire game so he was a non factor. Vick on the other hand was 10/15 91 1td 1pick No need for the big game throwing when they ran for 300 yards on the ground. While running down the clock up 14-0. I'm not saying that JP is even close to being there yet, but you have to take his game in context and in that case he played extremely well. (For what he was asked to do) -

Bills 16 Fins 6 That is the most important statistic. -
This is silly, Mularkey would have never submitted his offensive philosophy to an OC. To think that he could have hired Fairchild with the same results and scheme is a big stretch. Also, I really believe that JP needs a coaching staff with the demeanor led by Jauron. He needs that calming influence that he would have never gotten from MM. MM was to far up on the good plays and down on the bad. That does no good with someone as firey as JP. Ultimately MM is accountable for the staff that you said he needed to replace. No gaurentees that his second choices would have been any better than the first.

None of this changes the fact that all three of those passes were good sound decisions made by JP playing with the lead. You make the comparison of 1. A QB playing with the lead, completing 3rd down passes getting the team into, or better field goal range. 2. A QB who's M-O was dumping the ball off regardless of down and distance and field position. This is just faulty logic as you refuse to compare apples to apples. Yet insist on trying to tie together these situations which are completely different. -

You watch the game? 3rd and 12 from the Fins 35 complete, and 3 points on the much easier 45 yrd field goal instead of a 53 yard attempt. 3rd and 8 from the Buffalo 12 yard line complete for 6 yards. Maybe he should have waited a bit longer and taken the sack for the safety like last week? But wait!!!!!! We were up 16-0 at this point. Smart play. Finally, 3rd and 14 from the Mia 45 yard line. Again with the Bills up 16-0 Losman gets the Bills into field goal range with a 10 yard pass to Peerless. Bills coaches chose to punt because it was late in the game, but they could have gone for points again. These are the same kind of plays that Bledsoe would have taken the sack and we would have been screaming at the screen about loosing points. The bitching about Holcombs Arm last year was that he was doing this crap behind in the game. Not only were the Bills ahead in the game, but 2 out of the 3 either gave us 3 points, or at least gave the coaches a decision to make.
