I haven't watched NBC news (except for Russert) in a long time, but after watching Williams on Scarborough, I can honestly say it will be a VERY long time before I do. (I was just flipping through the dial to get different takes on the speech.) The whole 5 minutes he was on, he couldn't contain his desire to s**t on Bush. It was like watching a traffic accident. Did anyone else see it, and if so, am I missing something? This is supposed to be the head of one of the major news departments in the country; shouldn't he at least try to PRETEND to be objective? Dave.

His 58.3% in Buffalo is STILL better than Lindell's career 55.7% and is immensely better than Lindell's 38.5% in Buffalo. Dave.

With the Bills, he is 5 of 13. (But so far this year he is 1 of 1. Let's hope he keeps it up. The Bills will need it.) I don't care what he did for Seattle. It's ancient history. Dave.

Maybe it's gone downhill. 10 years ago, when I lived there it was very good. Haven't had it from there in a long time. Over in Rochester, J&J's in Perinton is very good. None of them compare w/ LaPaloma's though. Dave.

Number 1 far and away: LaPaloma's in Alden. Number 2: Blasdell Pizza. Dave.

Don't believe some of the hpe you hear

You aren't suggesting the Bills eat the only food (besides pickles) that is a known primary source of pickle juice are you? Between 1/3 of the players puking for a week, another 1/3 on the can for a week straight, and the other 1/3 with their intestines bound in a tight knot and in the hospital, all the Bills would have left are Lindell (known to hate Retatta) and the practice squad (not allowed to eat Retatta - "haven't earned it, Rookie")! Bad things man. Bad things. Dave. -

TKO is the best linebacker the Bills ever had
Taro T replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I included the Hostetler play because I have no f*cking idea how the SOB held onto the ball. That should have been 7. (yeah, yeah, I know: would've, should've, could've) Also, I think it happened before the safety, but Hostetler was nearly knocked out of the game. I remember seeing him sniffing smelling salts on the sideline with Cavanaugh warming up. Great, now I'm pissed and depressed!!! Dave. -
Interesting. Parrish listed as "QUESTIONABLE"
Taro T replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it'll be interesting to see if he does wear a cast when he comes back. I just would be very surprised that wearing a cast wouldn't adversely affect his ability to catch the ball. I've seen several d-backs play with casts, but can't recall ever seeing a wideout play with one (not saying it doesn't happen, just saying I can't recall seeing it). Dave. -

So THAT'S Reed's problem?!? Dave. -
TKO is the best linebacker the Bills ever had
Taro T replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were FAR too many plays that could have changed the game to pick one and say "That's the play that cost us that Superbowl". They include: Bennett dropping sure interception and probable touchdown on drive that gives Giants their last FG; not getting Hostetler to drop the ball on the safety; Reed's drop when he got hammered the next time the Bills got the ball; the dropped pass to the TE on that series; Lofton bobbling the ball on the bomb he caught instead of catching it clean and going into the endzone; 2 or 3 other 3rd and forevers that kept Giants drives going; Kelly getting shaken up on and having to waste a timeout on the last drive; and Bills losing about 12 seconds when the officials reviewed McKellar's catch. I'm sure there are a few others, but I'm trying to forget that game! Also, if I'm not mistaken, Talley's elbow had gotten messed up in the Raiders blowout and his whole arm was taped up. I don't know how much that effected him, but that is about the only game I can remember where he missed tackles. Dave. -

When Talley came into the league, he was playing for the STUPIDEST man to ever coach a football team in his defensive coordinator and then head coach Hank "They took the sails out of our wind" Bullough. I don't think anyone could have become an impact player with that ignoramus running the show. Heck, Bullough would bench him. How are you supposed to be an impact player when you aren't even on the field? Dave. -
Who were named Bills Captains this year?
Taro T replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moulds, Haggan, and Fletcher came out for the coin toss. Dave. -
I like the helmets too, but instead of calling them the "grazing buffalo" helmets; I think they should be referred to as the "Bledsoe memorial helmets" because they look like a statue of a Buffalo, kind of like Drew. I also agree that old style for blue unis and a newer style for white would be good. But they have to do something about the stupid blue squares on their shoulders. The jerseys look like a bad high school uni or something the Titans would consider wearing (even worse). Dave.

Interesting. Parrish listed as "QUESTIONABLE"
Taro T replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How often do wide receivers play with casts on their wrists? Wouldn't that cut down on his ability to catch the football? I do expect to see Parrish back by week 4 or 5, but would be surprised to see him wearing a cast. I also do not expect to see him return kicks until about November when the Bills braintrust is confident that the wrist is fully healed. Dave. -
Yes, Bush admitted that the federal government did not do everything perfectly. He did NOT say, nor should he have, that the feds were the only ones that made mistakes. The article continued: So the reporter or the person putting this article together didn't listen to what Bush said. (Big surprise there.) What I got out of this is that Bush said there were problems at all levels, any problems at the Federal level stop with him, that a post operation review is required, and that the people (at all levels) working on this are still trying to save lives. All of which sounds reasonable to me. What I seem to be reading of the article writer's interpretation is: ALL PROBLEMS ARE THE FEDS FAULT. BUSH BAD. BUSH ADMITS BUSH BAD. What the h*ll did I miss? Because I did not get the same take from Bush's statements that the article writer got. Dave.

Bledsoe NFC Offensive Player of the Week
Taro T replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what? Bledsoe played well for the Bills his 1st 8 games and then the 1st 2 games of the next season. He more or less did bubkis the rest of the time. He could be the NFC offensive player of the year (but we all know he won't) and I would still think that the Bills made the right decision this off season. Dave. -

He was claiming it only had to do with regards to judicial appointments, but it would in fact end up being in regards to all presidential appointments as they would fall under the same classification. My guess is that this would also be the case for treaties that the President signs and come before the Senate for ratification. I don't see how something purely "legislative" could be covered under this, as any change to the Senate rules requires a 2/3 majority vote. The "Constitutional" or "nuclear" option was available to Frist for the judicial nominations, as the VP would be settling a question of whether the rule applied, not changing or creating the rule. Even if he had the stones to try it (or any Senate Majority Leader had the stones for that matter), I don't see how he could frame the issue in a way that allowed bypassing the 2/3 rules modification requirement. I might be missing something, but I don't see how other rules changes could be made in at their discretion. If there is a portion of the Senate rules that contradicts my understanding, please let me know; I would like to look at that, but in my reading of them I don't see it. Dave.
-
I don't believe that Frist would be able to change the rules without having a 2/3 majority. I don't see either party (or even pro life or choice proponents) getting to 67 any time in the near future. An abortion related bill would not be subject to "nuclear option" which was considered for judicial nominee review. The "nuclear option" was (as far as I can figure out) an effort to have "executive" matters not covered under the Senate's rule XXII regarding "legislative" matters. I agree that there would be tremendous pressure, from both sides, regarding federal intervention into the matter. I just don't see how anything substantial would ever survive a threatened filibuster. Dave.

If Roe is overturned, I absolutely see the issue going back to the state level. I would be extremely surprised if you got a federal law that addressed the entire issue (either pro or con) because there is just too much interest group fire power to get 60 votes on either side. You would still have smaller restrictions imposed at the federal level (e.g., no partial birth abortions, parental notification, etc.) but you will not see major legislation passed either way. This, however seems to be a moot issue at this time. This is an issue that brings up much passion on both sides, and Congresscritters, while liking their partisans to be fired up, loathe having the other guys' partisans fired up. There are many politicians on both sides that are very comfortable with the status quo. The last vote regarding a Roe case went 6-3 in favor of upholding the precedent. With Bush replacing Rehnquist and O'Conner, that will still sit at 5-4. As long as all the Congresscritters realize that the next 2 new Justices don't change the balance of power on this issue, they can all play their games and keep their interest groups happy. It'll be a lot more interesting when one of the other Justices step down. Dave.

That is f*cking hilarious! Dave.

I don't think they had a chance to hesitate on that decision. They had already burned all 3 time outs. I also think they would have challenged the touchdown run if they could have. I haven't seen the replay, so don't know, maybe Carr was more obviously inbounds than I thought. Dave.

What the heck does Red Green have to do with PPP? (By the way, one of the 4 greatest things Canada ever gave to the US. In no particular order: hockey, Canadian beer, the Ballet, and RG.) Dave.

Rian Lindell. Misses 39 yarder in 1st half to keep score 7-0. Houston, due to one fumble recovery in Bills territory, 1 good drive, and 1 horrible pass interference call go up, 13-7. With 12 minutes left in 4th quarter, Lindell lines up for a 24 yarder to bring Bills within 3. Kick hits new long snapper in the butt, ball bounces back toward Lindell, he tries to throw ball forward, has it knocked out of his hands, right to Moorman. Moorman takes the ball at the 9 and runs around end untouched. 2 point conversion is good. Neither team can move ball rest of the game. Bills win 15-13. Lindell named most valuable player (if he'd have made the kick, Bills likely would have lost 13-10) and is promptly cut in the morning . Dave.
