I understand the difference between censure and impeachment. The portion of your statement that I requested clarification on (thus the highlighting), was what was the "more serious crime".
-
Not certain I follow your meaning here. Care to clarify?
-
I never said Serena was either. Think Anne Hecht, not Ellen Degenerate(sp?).
-
When was a censure resolution passed? I recall him getting impeached due to perjury and efforts by some (in both parties) to have him censured rather than impeached, but do not recall him actually being censured.

Monday's game is huge. It will give these kids a pseudo playoff atmosphere (2 in a row in the same barn w/ 1 night off in-between) and a chance to show that getting thumped one night does not guarantee getting thumped the next. Ryan HAS been shaky lately and in the playoffs in Rochester; pitching a solid outing on Monday could go a long way towards correcting that problem. Also, getting Danny boy back should help the confidence and lines tremendously. I wouldn't say the D is "VERY questionable", but they are definitely not in the top 10 squads. Teppo's injury (if it truly is a 10 day - 2 week thing) could end up being a blessing in disguise. He will be forced to get rest before the playoffs begin, and now that Rochester is essentially eliminated the Sabres can give Paetsch or Janik some NHL experience before the playoffs; on the (hopefully) off chance that one is needed in the playoffs. At a minimum, hopefully (and I don't expect this to happen, but I am hoping it will) Rory will finally get accustomed to the speed of the "new" NHL. He has decent speed for a defensive defenseman, but has looked very lost in his own end now that he can't grab guys in front of the net. Maybe something will click with him, I doubt it, but I am hoping. While the Sabres don't play Boston or Washington anymore, come playoff time they have a very good chance of facing a team that they almost match up as well with in the 1st round - Philly.

Actually, it began on December 28th, but your point is valid. The thing is, based on the extremely strong 1st 60 games they had, they have the luxury to get themselves out of this slump without falling out of the playoffs. The remaining schedule is not a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination, but it isn't like they have 4 games left against Ottawa (it's only 2 more against them). It's a good mix of opponents for them to find a way to get their act together.

Nope. It depends on Miller / Marty. Philly's goaltending is suspect and I wouldn't want much of their D either. If the Sabres are reasonably healthy, they can play the Drury line, Briere line, or even the Connolly line against Forsberg. Philly's lack of depth, lack of speed on D, and lack of goaltending will stop them, as it does every year. The only real fear is that Ryan did not look particularily good in the playoffs in Rochester.

In '98-'99, the Sabres had a 21 game streak where they had 5 wins, 5 ties/OTL's, and 11 outright losses. That team obviously had no business in the playoffs either. I am not happy with the current slump, but do not see any reason they can't right the ship in the next 3 weeks. They should still be good enough to beat Philly.

Not me, I've got an airtight. I was in contract negotiations with Serena and her "significant other" for, shall we say, parenting "advice" when the mutt went down.

Not true. That was not the last sound he heard. I think the last thing he heard was "beep, beep" zooooooom. But at any rate, I was nowhere near Central Park when Wile E (as his friends knew him) was injected with a non-non toxic Rose Art colored wax stick. Now, who do you think the prime suspect should be? Me, I think the Devils' fan trying to frame Crayola boy.

Well, in Davey's perfect world, we don't have to play you. In my perfect world, you guys end up 8th and TB ends up 6th, w/ NYR in 3rd. (I've basically conceded 1st to the Otters.) You guys play the TO role and beat the Otters in the 1st round (you played the role a few years back and can do it again), TB beats NY and Carolina beats Moe-ray-all or Atlanta (most likely the Habs). 2nd round, Carolina wins a hard fought series, and Grahame/Burke goes back to playing like Grahame/Burke. 3rd round, if we are healthy, I like our chances. Any way we can get LA into the SCF's?

Dean, thanks for the update. Sounds like a heck of a show. Too bad I won't get a chance to see him on this tour.

Sabres end their losing streak!
Taro T replied to HtownBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AD, you are on the money for the most part. Darcy definitely doesn't deserve the bashing he has received recently. One minor exception I will take is, I would very much like to have seen Spacek wearing a Shatanic goatheat. Edmonton got him for a minor leaguer that did decent in the AHL last season, and went back to Finland this year (the guy is doing very well over there, but I have Q's about why he went back). I expect the Sabres could have picked him up for a reasonable price. -
Sabres end their losing streak!

Sabres are 1 point shy of the playoffs. Atlanta could theoretically take the tiebreaker from the Sabres. Off the top of my head, I think the Sabres are 3 wins shy of locking themselves into the 4v5 matchup as teams 6-8 all have 83 points. (Too lazy to look up how many points they need to clinch 5th.) -
I'm dying just giving up wings for Lent. I can't imagine giving up beer for March / April hockey.
-
Alrighty then. I am going to drop this now, as there is no where left for this sad thread to go.
-
Why? Because TWO Sabres fans point out the fact that the team is on the verge of a 4 game losing streak, the team is losing its fans? WTF? A 4 game losing streak can officially be called a slump when your team is winning better than 60% of its games. Fortunately, the Sabres have just what the doctor ordered tomorrow. As Kenny D's dad once famously wrote: Ruin Bruins!

I'd take them over Carolina (minus Cole, they are not as scary as they should be). NJ is the other team that scares me. They have experienced goaltending, decent/good speed, and an ability to still play a pseudo-trap without tackling people. Let's hope, either Hasek doesn't come back for round 1 and the Otters have to play Atlanta, (1st round minus Dom, that team could be beat by Kovalchuk and Savard and Hossa and Bondra and ...) or the Atlantic winner takes the Louganis that I expect them to and then the 2nd round team does the TO number on the Otters.

Ran out of "hockey night Blue". Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. (Don't even have any company over shooting stick.)

You assumed wrong. And if you read what you previously wrote, actually you DID say that I "wrote" they would win the SC. Where exactly would I have written that, if not in a post here or on TSR? I would absolutely love to see it happen. I know this is probably sacrilege on this board, but if I can only see one in my lifetime, I'd much rather see the Sabres pick up the greatest team trophy in all of sport than the Bills get the football on the triangular post. That being stated, at the risk of sounding very repetitive, I think the Sabres are a dark horse candidate to win it, I do not believe "deep down inside" that they will. But I guarantee you, if they do win it, I WILL be at the Mmarena when they do. (Either watching it live, or on the jumbotron.)
-
Woo, hoo. "Now this is just a horrific piece of goaltending." - J. Lorentz 2-2. Darn, I should be there. Edit: We wuz robbed! Get it back boys!
-
I don't need to reread it. You might want to go back and reread the original, as your comprehension of it seems incomplete. Also, please indicate where / when I posted that the Sabres would win the SC this season? I have consistently stated that the Sabres are a dark horse candidate to win it all. If you would like, I could explain to you what a "dark horse" is; but you might save me some trouble by going to GG's site on your own.

Oh, come now. In 14 years the kids will be about 18, which based on previous threads, doesn't sound to be out of your league. Going w/ 10 years from now would Hab been a cheap shot.

Actually, I'm really looking forward to the playoffs this year, as I am expecting the refs who have been calling the games the tightest to be getting the assignments. High intensity with pointless hooks and holds called should make for some terrific hockey, especially if they aren't calling penalties on good clean checks.
