IF the Sabres are going to win the series, that is the way I see it going. I have a feeling that it will end in 6, I'm just not certain who will get to 4. I know a lot of people here did not want to see NJ, but I still would rather have NJ with the refs calling penalties (which they did 1st round) than face Ottawa with Havlat. The main wildcard in the whole equation is: Emery is a good goalie, but not a great one. Ryan is a very good goalie that may be able to be great. The Sabres will need him to be great as the Sens can come with scary firepower. The last time Buffalo played the Otters in the playoffs, they were far and away underdogs but stole the 1st game and simply refused to give the Otters any breaks. Let's hope the script works similarly this season. One other note: while Dom is not expected to play this series it would be interesting to see how he would play in the Mmarena. He has lost the last 3 games he played there (OTL to Pittsburgh, the Gratton debacle, and the Vanek twirl and lift).

Very close. Loafs and Caps were 4's both years and ended up hosting Conference Finals. Ottawa was the #8 seed that Washington beat in 5 games in '98 after Ottawa had knocked off top seeded Joisey in 6.

In game 5, yes he did play with Max. Until Hecht got hurt, he wasn't playing with him; and Danny was making similar plays (or lack there of) when he was playing with his normal line and his normal pp unit. As I mentioned, hopefully he is coming out of his funk, because the Sabres will need him to play well to keep this run going.

Fantastic news Chris. Very pleased to hear you are winning the fight.

Grier might have played his best game as a Sabre yesterday. Was very strong on the forecheck and only had one partial "oops" in his own end the entire game. Which is very reasonable when you are going against the Forsberg line almost the entire game. He was hitting everything in sight. I thought he was the best player on the ice. Also, Pyatt had an extremely strong game as well. Response to other posters about Danny Briere. I was very disappointed in his play. (Yes, he had the 2 assists, so hopefully he is emerging from his funk.) He had way more than his fair share of intercepted passes and missed shots especially in the 1st and 2nd periods. He also took a very bad penalty.

5TH ROUND?!?! He was supposed to be there after the draft was over. Ralph has to stop running this draft. Now no one will buy tickets and the team is off to LA, which was the plan heading into the draft anyway. Maybe that Vaughn kid they got from the California Penal League will pan out.

Don't think he's ever lived in Lockport, but I could be wrong. -
Even better!

You don't by any chance know my friend Mike the jeweler? With the exception of all the cool lyrics you have, he transformed the "shout"s to "drink"s a good 10 years ago. And he definitely did listen to his version of the song! -
You stick with the Braves even though they left town, but you don't stick with the Sabres? What's up with that? And how can you possibly consider a Cheesesteak comparable to a Garbage plate (ra-cha-cha) or an order of wings, a beef-on-weck, a supermighty, or a properly prepared pizza? (Yeah, I know you meant Atlanta when you said Braves, but still. ) Sabres in 6.

What?!? I didn't say they were BAD movies. Just, I would have saved myself about $100+ in not buying the original VHS trio, the remade VHS trio, and the remade DVD trio.

I am definitely not happy that they blew a 2 goal lead tonight, but unlike game 3, the Phlyers deserved to win tonight. I also am not happy that for the 1st game this series, the Phlyers outplayed the Sabres, but considering the Sabres get the last change in game 5, I expect the Sabres to outplay the Phlyers in game 5. The good thing is, the Sabres have 2 of 3 games (if necessary) at home and they have not trailed at home yet this series. My pick was Sabres in 5, now it's Sabres in 6.

Some comparions between the Sabres and the Bills.

Fork that, Sabres in 6. -
Of all the great scenes in that movie, you pick the one making a statement?!? WTF?
-
Good for you. If only Anakin had seen the light the same way, we would have been spared 3 movies. Although it looks bad tonight, the Sabres haven't trailed yet at home and have 2 of the final 3 (if necessary) in their building.

Too early for a Game 4 Sabres/Idiots thread?

Better Rory plays against a slow team like Philly than one with speed like NJ or Ottawa. Get Teppo tested and rested and bring him back when the Sabres REALLY need him - next round. -
They look like a purple cross between the Broncos dark unis and the Sabres blacks. As several others here have posted - not a good combination.

I'm in Ra-cha-cha, so I get the MSG feed (OLN blacked out). Out of curiosity, who are the OLN announcing pair doing the Sabres game?

Depends how sophisticated you want to make it. It probably wouldn't be too hard to test that CO, humidity, and temperature are within the range of a normal person's exhale to beat someone cheating with a compressed air cartridge. That could create a market for a breathalyzer version of the "ultimate whizzanator". (Beating idiotic laws, the true mother of invention!) Having a "designated blower" would be tougher for the idiots pushing this type of law to beat, but somehow I doubt that inconvenience or cost are factoring much into their thinking; so it wouldn't surprise me to see them want to add biometric sensors to the thing to make it more difficult for someone other than the driver to "blow".

I think he was referring to sober people driving their cars to the bar, leaving the engine idling for a few hours (definitely need to fill the car's tank before filling their own!) and then hopping in the already started, already warm (hmm, this may not be a bad idea in WNY even without the automatic breathalyzer, too bad gas is $3.00/gal) car.

Who here has run/is running your own business?
Taro T replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you have outside sources of income (wife, investments, etc.)? If yes, you can (obviously) get by with less of a cushion than you would otherwise need. If not, save up or start networking to get funding. Either way, before you start, come up with a WELL THOUGHT OUT business plan. Understand who your clients would be, who the competition is (today and in the future), what sort of support staff you will require, what you expect cash flows to be like and what you plan for a source of funding to cover the startup costs and inevitable delays in having funds coming back in. It sounds like you have a handle on what products (or more accurately services) you expect to provide. Understand how many clients you will need to keep yourself out of the poor house and have a marketing plan for landing those clients. Try to get a handle on whether the clients' business environments will change to the point that it will affect their demand for your service. No matter how well you plan for the 1st effort, there will be things that are "surprises". Knowing people that have started up the type of firm you look to begin would be enormously helpful. As others here have mentioned, get invoices out quickly and make sure that your clients pay on schedule. I've hit a slow patch, but the wife's income is enough to minimize the hurt of the "growing pains". Hit the 1 year mark of being independent this month. 1st 9 months went very well, last 3 not as well as I would like, but business has picked up recently and May is shaping up to be a rebound month for me. -
Darn old fashioned phones. Never a cell phone around when you need one! Thanks.

Happy B-day all. To JSP - What no birthday BotD? Just because it's your birthday doesn't mean you should be the only one to get a present! Happy Birthday anyway.

Conversation with a Cryer fan...
Taro T replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
[sarcasm]Are you kidding, Peter (we're not worthy) Forsberg KNEW his team needed a momentum shifter in the 1st and that is why he leapt 14 inches in the air to hit the shorter Briere. He KNEW his team would get a much needed shorthanded opportunity because they were due to get an odd man rush having gone 7-1/2 periods without one. He KNEW that Brian Savage would have a wrister from the blue line beat Ryan Miller short side (the same Ryan Miller that had a 1.63 gaa heading into this game). If you think he did NOT take over the game by taking that much needed, well timed penalty, then you simply don't understand the game of hockey. The other items you highlight merely cement his dominance of the game, as he knew that "fluke" goals would be much harder for the Sabres to overcome than mere outwork and outmuscle goals would have been.[/sarcasm]
