My offer sheet for that frog would max out around $31/game and a clean towel afterwards.

I understand what you're saying...But I have a feeling that after the rest of this year's defensive crop of free agents is signed, having Campbell locked up thru 2013 at $5 million per season will be looking more and more like a great big missed opportunity. The Sabres front office doesn't like what happens in the open marketplace, but just wishing it wasn't so doesn't make it go away. It's been obvious the last two offseasons that salaries are going to blast off again. The salary cap has increased each season, and there is always the looming potential of increased revenue if they could ever strike a legit TV deal. My disappointment isn't with not signing Campbell (or whomever else)...It's with the lack of foresight in the front office, and failure to consider the mere possibility that what ONE TEAM considers overpaying could actually turn out to be fiscally responsible over the term of the deal....Especially when you're locking up a proven performer BEFORE they sniff the open market. But it wasn't a total loss, at least we have Steve Bernier.

He's worth what the market says he's worth.

And the Sabres refused to consider or offer anything close to the 5 year/$25mil that Campbell was seeking last summer. Darcy's foresight proves to be outstanding once again.

Pete Prisco Ranks his Top 50 in the NFL

Didn't mean to convey my thoughts on Bailey as a universal truth...In fact I mentioned that he is an extreme talent and at the top of the short list of CBs in the NFL. I guess I'm questioning the stigma of Champ Bailey, and the idea of shut-down corners themselves...I'm skeptical that there is a cover corner in the league who changes a team's offense, post-Deion Sanders at least. I think if teams challenged Bailey more, they might find his actual coverage skills are not on par with the aura of his coverage skills. Top 50 player? As probably the best CB in the league, I think there's no question about it. Top 5 player? I'm not a believer. -
Who loses? Bears fans everywhere.

Pete Prisco Ranks his Top 50 in the NFL

Agreed, these lists are made for debate, but hey it's in good fun and something to discuss in the offseason. Two guys in the 30's-40's who I could see shooting up lists like this in the next year or two is Braylan Edwards (#34) and Patrick Willis (#43). Does everyone buy the Champ Bailey stigma??? No question, he's talented as hell, and right up there with the best corners in the game...I just feel like he is consistently overrated in grand scheme of things...Does he really change an offense's preparation? I don't see it...Deion was the last guy who effectively wiped out one side of the field. I can't see myself taking Champ Bailey if the NFL had an open draft and I had the #5 pick. -
(LAMP) Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Ah well, big deal...It's not breaking news that Norwood missed the kick. If the Bills ever won something, I'm not sure we'd be the most gracious winners... My buddy (a Mets fan) has a grey Boston away jersey with #6 on the back, BUCKNER. He wears it to Shea all the time and gets a lot of laughs and high fives and gets on the Jumbotron constantly. Sports is all in good fun, and when someone's error results in your team winning a championship, well, I guess you celebrate it. I wouldn't know... I was at the Bills-49ers game in San Fran in 2004...The Niners were terrible, and the Bills were about to win their 6th in a row to put themselves in playoff position...The Bills DESTROYED San Francisco that day...It was a drizzly, miserable day for the last home game in a lost season for the Niner fans...The place was half-full as it was, and most of those were Bills fans...But walking in the hallway in the 3rd quarter, I had a Bills shirt on, and some guy yelled, "Nice kick Norwood!" I just chuckled...I was in another team's stadium wearing the away team's gear, and nobody said a PEEP to me for 3 quarters...Until some random guy yelled down the hallway about a 13-year old event that his team wasn't even a part of. Norwood is a defining feature of the Bills legacy. I wish it wasn't so, but what can you do but try to laugh. For me, it's funny when you're beating the 49ers by 25 points and their fans are yelling about Norwood. -
Yes aware of that...All part of the underrated North Country...

Love it up there. I'm a huge fan of the ADK's...I feel the whole area is VASTLY underrated, especially by people who live so close, like you said. I've got good friends in Albany who chuckle at the thought of a vacation to the ADK's, I don't understand it...

I'm interested in who the Bills should draft in 2009, so please weigh-in on who will be the best NFL players in the 2011 season when you get a chance. Nothing like a tard coming out and applying 2008 knowledge to 2006 decisions. In other news, 31 teams should've drafted Tom Brady and Benazir Bhutto shouldn't wave to the crowd standing out of a sun roof.

Marshawn was never arrested, and he is guilty a moving traffic violation, not a misdemeanor. -
I like to visit Sloan but it's impossible to find a hotel with vacancy in the summer, so we usually end up staying in Depew. There's a great view of the sunset from the AutoZone parking lot on Transit Road.

I like that we can disregard whatever we want and choose to believe whatever we want. I choose to believe that Kit from Knight Rider was controlling his car.

I like Whitner's game alone better than Huff's, who went #7. Throw in the leadership aspect, and the Bills got the best safety in the draft. Before the draft, I thought Ngata would be the pick, to shore up the defensive line. However, safety was an OBVIOUS need, as evidenced by the fact that BOTH starting safeties in Sept 2006 were drafted in April 2006. Also, as we all know, the NFL is a copycat league. Teams saw the impact that a guy like Ed Reed had on the Ravens defense. Bob Sanders was coming into his own in Indy. At the time of the '06 draft, the Steelers were coming off a Super Bowl win. Everyone saw the impact that Polumalu had and the versitility he brought in transforming a good defense into a championship defense. If the Bills brass decided they were looking for a player cut from that mold, I'm okay with that. I find it comical that people ALWAYS reference Whitner's draft slot when evaluating him. So if they picked him at #16, he'd be good? But since they got him at #8, he's not that good? I don't understand. As I see it, the Bills got a solid, durable player with great leadership skills, who has been on the field for nearly every snap since day 1. What's wrong with that? There were so many holes to fill on that defense in '06, would it really have been worth it to draft a DT who plays only 60% of the defensive plays, rather than taking a potential impact safety in a league where safeties were becoming increasingly valuable??? I'd take Whitner at #8 tomorrow.

Kobe sunk to a rediculous low during his Colorado espisode when he threw Shaq under the bus, saying Shaq paid off his "weekend" girls to keep quiet. I don't think Kobe was guilty of anything other than cheating on his wife in that incident, but whether his statements were true or not, bringing Shaq into it was incredibly uncalled for. I'm not sure that's something Shaq will ever completely forgive....

Thanks for the reality check bro...Because I was certainly saying that the Bills should be hyped as an 11-5 team, no questions asked.... The Jets have a vet QB with a bum shoulder, a young QB who hasn't proven much at all, a RB who didn't have a 20-yard run last year, and a bunch of receivers who are middle-of-the-road at best. And since you're citing Vegas, THE JETS WERE AN UNDERDOG TO A WINLESS TEAM 6 MONTHS AGO! But they signed Alan Faneca!!!! I'm not saying the Bills are a force to be reckoned with. But they were in the playoff hunt up until the Cleveland game last year, which considering their man-games missed, probably should've qualified as a "mentionable" in a three minute segment. I also fully realize that they were only 7-9 last year, with four of those wins coming against the lowly Jets and Dolphins. I'm not booking my tickets to Tampa. I also don't think it's a stretch to say the Bills are the 2nd best team in the division. If that's rose colored glasses then so be it. -

Yes, agreed on all counts, good points...That's why I wasn't trying to play up the "Bills were slighted" angle, they have done very little to warrant serious contender status. -

Pennington HAS had success in the past. Now he is a backup to a (what appears to be) below-average QB who is only playing because he can actually throw the ball 15 yards. He can officially change his name to Chadly Holcombton. -
