I think I get what you're saying...You hope the Raiders actually get off the bus this time and at least make it a sporting event. However, that 2nd half was boring???? Whether you were sitting on your couch or sitting in the snowy upper deck, watching your team play with a 40-point lead, as they waltz their way to the first Super Bowl in their history???? I have to say that was one of the least-boring 2 hours of my life!!! Pure joy and excitement. Looking back- trust me I wouldn't trade that win for anything- but maybe a 28-10 would've served the Bills better...That wasn't the most modest team in history, and they had to feel invincable after that game... Still an unbelievable experience, I was 13 years old at the time and was there with my dad, uncle, and grandfather...Magical...

A Simple Solution to the Blown Call in Denver...
LongLiveRalph replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hochuli even blew his blown call. He was incorrect in ruling that it was an incomplete pass. But even if it was, the ball traveled backwards, and by rule should've been a live ball regardless. An impressive daily double for Ed. -
An Interesting Thing About the ESPN Power rankings
LongLiveRalph replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? The Colts have a decade of excellence. The Bills have a decade of incompetence. Don't let two weeks of action force a decision either way. Both teams came from behind to win tough road games. If the Bills show up for the next three weeks like they have in the first two, the opinion rankings will take care of themselves. Manning is coming off an injury, so is Harrison. They will get their timing back. He has played 10 years. Edwards has played about 10 games. Let the Bills prove something before we cry about our national perception. Looking at the schedule, the Bills won two difficult games...But looking at the actual games, the Bills probably SHOULD'VE beaten both of those weakened-by-injury opponents. So essentially, what have they proved? That they're a top-10 team in the NFL?? Well that's where they're ranked. Doesn't seem so absurd. And I think the Colts have earned the benefit of the doubt. After week 2 in '03, the Bills were a top-5 (and in some cases top-2) team across all of these rankings. -
An Interesting Thing About the ESPN Power rankings
LongLiveRalph replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about the potential of the Bills schedule, based on the general ranking of teams. Looks promising. And I agree, I like power rankings, I think they're fun, but it all gets settled on the field which is nice. It's been said hundreds of times, but I'm sure the Giants were ranked somewhere in the low-20's last season after week 2. Don't forget, ESPN has a MNF game to hype, and I'm sure they are very conscious about each week's matchup when compiling their rankings. -

UB vs Missouri....Do You Believe in Miracles?
LongLiveRalph replied to taterhill's topic in College Football
I was assuming that everything goes right for UB, they force some TO's and get some stops....If Mizzou scores 58/game they're going undefeated. Literally, for UB to win, they would have to play GREAT defense (which is relative considering the opponent) and try to score enough to win 41-38 or something like that...That would be GREAT defense. Unfortunately, allowing 27+ to Temple and Pitt doesn't bode well for holding Mizzou in the 30's or 40's. -
UB vs Missouri....Do You Believe in Miracles?
LongLiveRalph replied to taterhill's topic in College Football
It's probably going to take 50 to win. I can't see Mizzou scoring less than 45... My friend took the UNDER in the Mizzou/Nevada game last week, which was 71. Basically, he was saying "Go ahead, see if you can put 10+ TD's on the board." Well, Missouri took that challenge and almost went over themselves, winning 69-17. -

This actually makes a lot of sense. Every blackberry I've had is worn out after about 18 months, starts to fail miserably, and dies. Thankfully, work replaces it with a new blackberry, not some untested beta version vice-blackberry.

No no no!!! You've got it backwards my friend! If the Repubs have taught us anything in the last seven years, it's that WE are the ones who must be afraid!! Very afraid of everything. Because terrorists and child molesters and tropical storms and 4-hour erections are out there, and they're after YOU!!! And your dog!!!! The end is near.

How about this: It's in no way, shape, or form the responsibility of the NFL to ensure that Latino immigrants learn english. If a few commercials in Spanish help to sell some tickets and some t-shirts, then the NFL accomplishes it's goal- RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. As Michael Jordan famously said, after refusing to support a black political candidate in his home state: "Republicans buy sneakers, too." The NFL doesn't care what language you speak. Just be sure to watch the games, buy some tickets, and buy some merchandise.

Palin in favor of waterboarding kittens!!!!
LongLiveRalph replied to KD in CA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Why would this NOT be an issue??? I understand that the circumstances surrounding McCain's injuries are an unfortunate result of being a POW. Regardless, why do we want a 76-year old President who can't comb his own hair and put on his own shoes?? Does he also do crossword puzzles and go to bed at 7pm? Actually, he probably dictates the crossword puzzle answers to his wife as she feeds him jello. I don't think the email piece is a big issue. I believe Bill Clinton sent just one email, to John Glenn in outer space, during his tenure as President. I'm not sure if Bush has sent even one. The whole "permanent record" thing tends to steer the White House clear of the computer. However, with regard to his disabilities, they should be a concern. Being the President of the USA is a grueling, draining, life-shortening job. Thats a fact. Guys enter looking like they're 40 and leave four or eight years later looking like they're 65. McCain doesn't appear to have that luxury. This ain't the Senate. Wesley Clark's "Getting shot down in an airplane does not qualify someone to be President" comment was harsh but true. -
Fascinating statistic
LongLiveRalph replied to LongLiveRalph's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Funny you mention that....Did you know that 82% of all statistics are made up on the spot? -
Approx 80% of the people disapprove of the job Congress is doing. Approx 87% of the people approve of the Congressman representing their particular district. Discuss.

Hey man, I understand the emotions and such involved with the Sept 11th attacks. However, stepping away from the emotion for one second, it was essentially an attack on our nation by foreign nationals. Most of us have had the luxury of living our lives here without ever the threat of war on our continent. Talk to some of the elders over in England (or Germany, etc.) to imagine what it feels like to lay in bed listening to bombs exploding 100 feet from your house. I was not making an anti-or-pro anything statement. I am extremely sentimental around 9/11 because of personal tradgedy suffered that day. However, I am not naive enough to pretend that America is a victim and we are the only nation who has been through something like this. What is the day of remembrance in a place like Baghdad or Sarajevo? How do they narrow it down to just one? I'm merely saying that any act of intentionally destroying cities and intentionally killing thousands of people is pretty shiitty, regardless of how, why, or where it happens.

Why are there stipulations in the laws such as "Dealing narcotics within 1000 feet of a church" ?? I understand a school, or playground or something like that, but a church? Seems weird, to me at least.

Palin in favor of waterboarding kittens!!!!
LongLiveRalph replied to KD in CA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Bad strategy, even though McCain's own campaign manager stated that the election isn't about the issues, it's about the general public's perception of each candidate? You're expecting to hear a lot of substance out of the McCain camp? -
There is not one indvidual that is to "blame." (Not that blame gets you anywhere, anyways.) Its just that his watch as chairman is generally regarded as the one of the greatest financial stretches in our nation's history. He is widely credited with helping to facilitate that success. And yet, that seemingly glorious period was financed by foreign ownership of our government debt, dramatically increasing since 1980, and even more dramatically since 2000. Volcker from the Wash Post: Greenspan was lauded for his performance as chairman, because all was well "in the now." His foresight appears to have been less than stellar, and it's left Bernake and Paulson scurrying around assuring foreign central banks that the creditworthiness of their bond holdings is secure....At the expense of the American taxpayer....And at the risk of the collapse of the current financial structure. So I guess what I meant...Greenspan not to blame, just that his genius was based on a credit card.

Palin in favor of waterboarding kittens!!!!
LongLiveRalph replied to KD in CA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I can believe it and it's not surprising. Nobody knows anything about her. Are the Dems supposed to let the Repubs and Palin frame herself in a positive light, without dispute? For someone like McCain, who has been in the public eye for mulitple decades, the negatives are already out there and are well known. For someone who has been on the scene for two weeks, people/media/opposing campaigns look into everything about their past. What is so shocking about this? -
