  1. A mulatto girl yelled at me the other day when I referred to someone else as a mulatto. She said, "We use bi-racial now." I was unaware of that, and had no idea that mulatto is now offensive. I am considering going with monoracial for myself, rather than the hate-filled "caucasian."
  2. The system you're referring to is one that USC has dominated since it's inception. Why wouldn't it lean toward them, when they have thrashed all of their BCS opponents not quarterbacked by Vince Young? They have travelled on the road and played big non-conference games, and have won each time. As for the Gators you mentioned...They are only going to play three conference road games this year- against Tennessee, Arkansas, and Vandy. They have the bullshiit setup with Georgia, where they will be the "road" team this season in Jacksonville. COME ON!!! How is that fair to the other SEC teams, who have to play on campus in Athens??? You can say the system leans one way or another, but there are little quirks throughout the whole process that make it an inexact science. What cannot be debated is that when USC has received the so-called "leanings" of the system, they have always capitalized with their on-field performance. Regardless, USC is out of it as it stands today. The only way they get back in will be because of OTHER teams, not because of the system.
  3. Oh, that's rich!!! What have you learned from "the news" today? I could find 10 channels and 10 articles spouting off about the same subject, with different viewpoints. All you have to do is find the one you agree with, and that's the only one that's correct, right?
  4. It is how the system works, but it was also decided on the field...USC beating Ohio St. will allow them to lay claim to that spot. That's why that was such a big game. The problem with the system is that OU and Mizzou could both play as undefeateds for the Big 12 crown, with the loser left out of the national title picture. Depending on what happens in the SEC title game, USC could slide into the BCS championship as #2, because they lost their game in September, even though Oregon State might not be a .500 team by the end. That would be a raw deal for an 11-1 OU/Mizzou team. However, that said, two years ago #1 Ohio St beat #2 Michigan in a close game in the last game of the season, and some were squawking about a rematch for the BCS title. Both proceded to get SLAMMED (OSU by FL, UM by USC) in their BCS games. It's a crazy setup. Where's Jim Mora when you need him? PLAYOFFS???
  5. Let me preface by saying I am a Maryland alumni and ACC fan, and not a Pete Carroll guy. I think somewhere 8-12 would be about right. That's still an NFL defense they have. Oregon St deserves some credit for the scheme they put together. They had a great gameplan, executed to perfection in the first half, and didn't fold up under pressure in the second half. Regarding the pro-USC bias- Is it wrong? Is it wrong to chalk it up to an "off day" and still rate them highly? The team has won 11+ games every year since 2002, won a BCS national championship and two AP national championships, and has gone 5-1 in BCS bowl games since 2002, losing only once by 3 points to undefeated Texas. Besides the BCS bowl games, they have trounced their regular season non-conference competition, beating the likes of Auburn, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, BYU, Colorado, Ohio St, and Notre Dame since 2002. They have played all of those teams, on the road on campus, and brought it. Only the VT game was a neutral site, and that was still cross country in Virginia, at FedEx Field. Is there another program who could lose 10 starters to the NFL last year (including seven picked in rounds 1 and 2) and still field a championship-caliber team? I don't disagree with you that USC should fall out of the top-10, especially with the trouble Oregon St has had this season. But chalking up USC's rankings to media bias just seems ridiculous. At some point, they get the benefit of the doubt for their performances under Pete Carroll. Ohio State fell so far in the polls because everyone is tired of watching them lay an egg on the biggest stage. Not only do they lose, they get creamed. USC shows up at their best in big games, but every year they have trouble in at least one conference game that they are favored to win by 4 TDs.
  6. Always! Love that stuff. Hopefully, on this TD drive he's envisioning, he'll also grace us with an emphatic "1st down point" after a 12-yard catch against soft 4th quarter coverage.
  7. The colonial pipeline that services many of the southern states is serviced mainly by tankers coming into Galveston. The pipeline is operating at 30% capacity right now, mainly because of refineries taken offline during the hurricane. It will be back up to 100%, but the timeframe is the question. Other states, such as FL, who receive the majority of their fuel from terminals in Port Everglades and Miami, have seen no such shortages.
  8. Ralph Nader, upon receiving news from the Washington Post that the paper will not be covering his presidential campaign, because he has no chance of winning: "Then why do you cover the Nationals?"
  9. Possibly true. However, last year's national champion had two losses. They always say it's better to lose early rather than later....But the problem with the down PAC 10 this year isn't necessarily the loss....It's the fact that there isn't a Cal or Oregon or ASU who will be ranked in the top-10, that USC could blow out and have a chance to win some voters back. All of USC's remaining games are PAC 10 or Notre Dame. Not much there. It's also a damaging loss for Ohio St. We'll see what happens. Last season my have been an aberration, with the top-5 in constant flux...Or it could be the new norm in college football...Any given Saturday....
  10. Oregon St. is a house of horrors for USC. In 2004, when USC went undefeated and romped Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, they ALMOST lost to Oregon St. in a misty, foggy game up there. I believe Leinart threw a late TD pass to win a close one. In 2006, USC got down 33-10, battled back furiously, but had a 2-pt conversion go incomplete at the buzzer to lose 33-31. And then yesterday, getting down 21-0 at half, they just couldn't put it together after they finally woke up at halftime. USC had an INT go right thru their hands in the end zone and caught by an OSU receiver on the final play of the 1st half...If it was only 14-0, USC may have been able to feel lucky and come out firing in the 2nd half. Not so. Like somebody mentioned, OSU was better last night and wanted it more.
  11. There's just no prayer. It's always an interesting thought, but there really is no prayer. Mizzou would probably score, but they should worry about beating Oklahoma before they start thinking professionals. It's still football, but it's a whole new world. There's a reason QB's come into the NFL from college and suck. The Rams would win by two scores at least, and that goes for Mizzou, USC, Georgia, whoever. It might not be a whitewash, but the NFL team would win 10-out-of-10 times.
  12. With articles linked as "evidence" from both sides!!!
  13. When you finish ranked in the bottom-10 of your class of 900 at the Naval Academy, they can't really be expecting you to land your planes anyways.
  14. The level of obnoxiousness was VERY similar. Buffalo fans are dangerous folks when our teams are successful. We don't shut up.
  15. Dude, they play some games in Toronto. It's unfortunately true. This guy can call them whatever he wants. Their name isn't the Buffalo Jills either, but when they play like girls, some writers call them that. If the Bills remain good, and they rake in cash from Toronto, build their fan base, and increase suite revenue- further solidifying their already-strong position as the BUFFALO Bills- then I doubt anyone will really care. In fact, I doubt anyone outside of a few nervous nellies in WNY really cares now. The fact is, Buffalo can support a team. We know this and have proved this for 50 years. However, the economics of the game are changing, and are going to be VERY different in just 2-3 years when Dallas and the NY teams start seeing their stadium revenue. Toronto is an ENORMOUS untapped market that the Bills are looking toward to remain competitive with the new NFL financials. Let's be thankful that Toronto is so close. What are teams like Carolina and New Orleans and Jacksonville and KC going to do to remain competetive? The Bills are a great franchise with great fans. They have had a successful business model for 50 years. Unfortunately, the writing is on the wall for the new business model in the NFL. Give the Bills some credit for having enough foresight to maximize their competetiveness, and don't worry what some 24-year old writes in his power rankings.
  16. I was there and it was fun...Sabres fans, roughly about 10,000 of them, were in attendance. However, I saw some severe drunkenness even before the game (trust me, I was throwing back my share as well) but there were certainly some embarrassments. There were Sabres fans who were taking their alcohol consumption to Ralph Wilson Stadium levels and beyond. Let's face it, a hockey arena is a more intimate setting and more family-friendly than a football stadium. The Sabres fans were generally loud and pumped up, but when the Sabres laid an egg on the ice and Columbus won, the Sabres fans were not all that warm-hearted. I did love the "Flor-Da Ga-tors, clap clap clap-clap-clap" chant in the hallway leaving the game though (a few weeks after the Gators crushed Ohio St. for the national title.) It was a good time, but there were a good number of Sabres fans there who were juvenile and inappropriate and drunk. And I'm no prude. But there were Buffalo people and Columbus people both shaking their heads at these idiots. Like usual, it was probably 100-200 jerkoffs who give the whole lot of us a bad rep.
  17. I trust myself that I will be working my ass off for another 30 years to be able to retire comfortably. That's about it. Who gets elected, who is giving the speeches, who is writing the legislation, REALLY doesn't matter to me. I pay $2,000 more in taxes? Sucks bad, but here's your check. I pay $3,000 less in taxes? Sweet, I'll sock that away. To me, everyone who gets worked up about their politics seems like they just really want someone to blame. Every election year they convince themselves that their **** is better than the other party's ****. Pretty funny.
  18. Bah, who cares. Emailing him only makes him think that people actually care or read what he writes. The Bills play some games in Toronto. Big deal. This jerkoff can call us whatever he wants, as long as we get to keep Sweaty Teddy's $9M per year. Besides, it will probably take me less time to get home from TO than it will take a Pats fan to get home from Foxboro to Boston. And a Jets fan in Long Island getting home from Jersey??? Fugggedaboutit. I'll take an exhibition and regular season game in Toronto every year if it means NO SEAT LICENSES and PRICE GOUGING, like these other "supposed" big market, big money teams. That stuff is BULLSHIIT!!!!
  19. It's clear what needs to be done. We'll go to London and Dubai, and we'll smoke 'em out. Smoke 'em out of their holes. And their Leerjets.
  20. They could actually do MUCH more for America by having a debate, scratching the foreign policy idea and discussing economics, including their perceived reasons for the financial turmoil and their ideas for the next four, eight, 15 years. Discuss what Americans can do to save money, eat cheaper, save gas, keep their house...Discuss what can be done to prevent fuel shortages in the midwest and south when the refineries are down during hurricane season, and discuss ideas for capital projects that will contribute to the infrastructure of the nation while keeping people employed. But no, let's suspend a presidential campaign that HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 24 MONTHS because the guy who's had a horrible week sees his opportunity to call timeout. It's absolutely hilarious that McCain thinks anyone is dumb enough to buy his angle on this one. Oh wait, Wacka is.
  21. Neither of these dweebs have been doing dick as a senator for two years, but NOW we need them in Washington???
  22. Whatever a member of a professional football organization tells the media, the opposite is probably true. I'm sure Dick J talked to Whitner about taking a stupid 15-yard penalty, and I'm sure Whitner told Dick J he refuses to stand for that guy's b.s. taunting, and both probably agreed with each other. Jauron MUST crack down on an intentional unsportsmanlike play in public. It was a personal foul and he can't say that he was happy Whitner did it, even if he kinda was.
  23. The right is really reaching to find "issues" that they can B word about being leftist smear tactics.
  24. Good list, I'm pretty much in agreement. They flashed a stat of the Chargers record after 3 games for the past 5-6 seasons, they always start slow. They are going to be just fine, especially with 5 games against the Chiefs Raiders and Dolphins still to play. I might jump Ten to #3 over Pit...If Pittsburgh doesn't shore up that line, and Ben keeps taking hits, it could be the Byron Leftwich show, which doesn't equal the #3 team in the conference. Roethlisberger has left with injuries in all three weeks thus far. I'm not sure the Titans have the staying power, I admittedly haven't seen anything but highlights. Sounds like their D is legit.
  25. I loved it also. Give those 15 yards all day (even though it didn't end up costing them.) Maybe on the road, you let the guy dog it for the crowd. But NOBODY does that shiit in your own house.
