  1. we have probably the best kick and punt coverage in the entire NFL. It is not a pressing need to have someone who can kick touchbacks.
  2. you play to win the game. period.
  3. i remember last year some people made a bit torrent of the bills preseason games for those of us who aren't in the western new york area, are there any plans for this to happen again? I would love to be able to watch the game and I don't have nfl network. Thanks
  4. I think this is a great new rule. How many tiems have we seen a sure fumble occur, only for the play to have been "blown dead" already. Now these kinds of plays are reviewable.
  5. "Previously, if a player was ruled down but the ball popped out, the whistle stopped the play in its tracks. Beginning this season, the whistle won't stop the play if the ball comes loose. The play will be reviewable -- it wasn't reviewable if the issue was merely forward progress of the ball carrier -- and could result in a change of possession. One likely outcome is that the well-worn cliche of "playing until the whistle blows" may lose some of its validity. That's assuming players can adapt to the new way of thinking." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2539849
  6. Agreed, yet at the same token, it's not much better to have a QB with a strong arm if he consistently OVER throws his receivers. I saw some nice deep balls from JP last year, but also a lot of concerning accuracy issues. My overall instinct is that this competition is actually a real competition and we shouldn't take it for granted that JP is going to start just because he's athletic and is young. Clearly, age isn't a big deal for marv levy, he's mroe concerned with competance, and I'm sure Jauron shares this view. My hunch is that holcomb will start the season, and if we start september going 1-3 or 0-4, then JP will get the call.
  7. I don't buy that at all about holcomb. He didn't have a problem throwing the deep ball to lee evans against cincinatti last year. While his arm isn't as strong as JP's, its still suitable for a QB in this league. Just look at chad pennington before all his injuries (never a strong arm, but was statistically a top 5 QB) My point is that holcomb doesn't have a killer instinct that I think a QB needs to have. He throws a 4 yard pass against New England when it was 4th and 8, he dumps it off way too much--because he avoids the bonehead error. And because of this, it keeps the team in contention plain and simple. That's teh only reason why I feel like he could be the starter come opening day. I don't believe this competition is a charade like you seem to think so. JP has an advantage because of his ability and willingness to take chances, but he won't win the job if he can't remove that boneheaded play from his game. And by boneheaded play, I dont mean the INT that results from taking shots downfield, yet I'm talking about his apparent mental error of just simply not seeing a linebacker over the middle, or a DB about to make a clean break on the ball.
  8. Yes, that's my instinct as well, but I'm not entirely convinced that it's a given that JP will start. I beileve he's better suited for this new offense that seems to be predicated on airing it out deep. I don't think holcomb's vulnerability is his weak arm. If his arm strength was so bad, he wouldn't even be considered a starting candidate at all. His major "flaw" in my eyes, is his cautious decision making. There is a time and a place to dink and dunk and play it safe, but there's also a time to take chances, and he seems far too hesitant. However, with that said, he's probably viewed as the "steadier" of the two QB's at this point, and because of this fact alone, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he began the year as the starter.
  9. This all may be true, but can someone explain why kelly holcomb is listed as the number 1 on the depth chart? And is also the first person to take reps in practice? Obviously the position is still up for grabs, but there isnt much to suggest that he won't be starting opening day. I want JP to win the job but not unless hes hands down the best of the bunch.
  10. You are absolutely right. Although a lot of the poor quality can be blamed on the compression. The video is actually on buffalobills.com and they did a much better job compressing it. You can see it here. But with that said, the production value leaves a lot to be desired. This was actually made for an NYU film project and it was the first thing I ever did at the school. They didn't supply us with proper lighting and audio recording equipment and I had to deal with the elements of the bar. Also the tripod they gave us was practically unusable. If given the right equipment, the production quality would be extremely professional, since that is something that is very important to me--now that I work in the film and tv industry. Thanks for the feedback.
  11. Thanks for everyone who replied. In the future I'd love to make more documentaries about the actual team itself--sorry if my first post was misleading. If you are looking for more info about mcfaddens you can go to www.nycbbb.com This was the first time I had watched it in a while, and it got me really excited for the season.
  12. If you havent seen it, check out this short documentary I made last year on the Buffalo Bills in new york city. I just uploaded to you tube. Please vote for it and give it a high rating. Hope you guys like it.
  13. I will NOT be happy if Andre Davis is our #2 receiver at the start of next season.
  14. i heard it was diet pepsi machine
  15. I know its confusing. But it was the right call. Bad rule though.
  16. Its technically not a pick. It's a terrible rule interpreted correctly. Why you ask? Because in order to make a catch, you have to maintain possession to the ground. Polamalu was technically going "to the ground" since the ball came out when his knee was down--hence it was incomplete when the ball came out. Its like the tuck rule. If polamalu just stayed down it would have been fine.
  17. Yeah well if you want to talk about their schedule, they beat seattle, cincinatti, and pittsburgh, and almost beat indy twice.
  18. yeah. and portis wasnt met immediately in the backfield either.
  19. Redskins Jags Panthers Bengals
  20. I think in "exhibit A", the guy was more critical of Wilson not firing mularkey than anything else.
  21. You can't expect to see any improvements out of Losman if a new coach comes in and brings in a brand new system. We'd be 5-11 again for another year. The odds of making the playoffs next year are much better with having stability.
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...n_john#20060104 "Clement departure a surprise: The firing of Bills offensive coordinator Tom Clements is a surprise. Mularkey took the play-calling ability away from Clements and started calling the plays himself in the middle of the season. Mularkey never said anything publicly, but Clements was upset about the move. Clements ended up calling plays in the final months of the season but his relationship with the head coach wasn't the same. Over the next week, there could be as many as four changes on the coaching staff, some that will affect the defense. Levy a matter of time: Marv Levy won't be announced for his front office role until Thursday or Friday, but he is coming. He's a general manager who isn't really the general manager. His job is to advise and evaluate. Owner Ralph Wilson will rely on Levy to give a true evaluation as to whether Mularkey is the right coach for the Bills. Mularkey has three more years on his contract, but 2006 will be a critical year for him."
  23. Im saying, the fact that MM had a crappy o-coordinator and therefore had to take control of playcalling and therefore take him away from head coaching responsibilties allows us to blame tom clements for being crappy.
